Most corrupt administration ever. Even Nixon didn't pardon or commute the prison sentences of those involved with the Watergate break-in and resulting scandal.

Trump continues to shoot himself in the foot. I wish he would aim higher. Much higher.

He's not going to be able to spring his family out of prison, or anyone else, once he's out of office. Hopefully a LOT of them will be doing time.

Trump continues to shoot himself in the foot. But he doesn't! He just keeps doing whatever the hell he wants with no consequences!

Not surprised in the least. I wonder what took him so long?

Not surprised in the least. I wonder what took him so long? He was showing the Pravda, uhmm, Fox news how to be fair and balanced. He has started to complain about their reporting more often so a lesson would be in order.

Not surprised in the least. I wonder what took him so long? Someone probably had to remind him what commute and pardon meant again.

Trump continues to shoot himself in the foot. But he doesn't! He just keeps doing whatever the hell he wants with no consequences! Agreed. We don't know whether he will ever face the consequences. He could die from a sudden heart attack brought on by Covid and no reckoning will ever occur. His corruption grows daily. I don't know if he ever believed in a swamp in Washington, but its clear if he chose to clear any of it out, it was simply because he didn't want any competition.

I read somewhere that the president is only supposed to pardon people who have been vetted by a pardon committee and have legitimately been wrongfully convicted. It’s not supposed to be a get out of jail free card for pals of the president.
Is that a law or a gentleman’s agreement? Something we can charge trump with or is he going to skate on this too?

I do believe, but don't quote me, it is more a "gentleman's" (using that word very loosely in this case) agreement. I think the power of pardon can be used however the president wants. Others have tried to use it in a just manner. Trump has no clue about the word justice.

This is why the entire Republican Party needs to be held accountable. They did nothing to rein him in, which is their job. So, either they agree with him, or they were to gutless to do the right thing. Doesn’t matter which, they all are complicit

There is a process in place because a very large percentage of cases are low profile requests for consideration. It involves investigating situations like a person who apparently was young and dumb but has demonstrated they have matured admirably. The office works to make sure a change has taken place and the person is truly deserving so a President doesn't end up embarrassed. High profile cases are a whole different situation.

Something the current resident of the white house fails on on both accounts I don't know and don't care enough to research Trump's record on low profile pardons and grants of clemency. If he has granted any, they are by their nature not really newsworthy so not sure what process might have been used. What we have seen is that we have a President who likes to put on a show with high profile uses of Presidential power.

Just read that he commuted the sentence, did not pardon him because pardoning him would imply he did something wrong, and trump insists he didn’t.

How much damage could he do, Congress would rein him in. I had no idea Congress as as corrupt as he is.

Stone didn't want a pardon because that would imply guilt. So, he just kept his mouth shut and didn't spill the beans until Trump commuted his sentence. He knew it would happen. "You'll scratch my back, and I'll scratch the Nixon tattoo on yours." What happened to America, where the president pardons felons who support child molesters, war criminals, racists, human rights abusers and people who keep their mouths shut about him?

Clint Lorance and Maj. Mathew Golsteyn-paraded them at a fundraiser too). As for racists, trump pardoned former sherriff Joe Arpaio of Arizona.

This article lists some of Trump's pardons. www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/unprecedented-historic-corruption-why-trump-s-pardon-history-is-so-extraordinary/ar-BB16Cfin?ocid=msedgntpBeyond the obvious political implications, though, are the types crimes for which Trump has pardoned people or commuted their sentences. Here’s a look at the crimes for which the law-and-order president has opted to unilaterally circumvent justice: Lying about contacts involving a man, Julian Assange, who served as a conduit for Russia’s interference in the 2016 U.S. election and who is currently under indictment (Stone) Three war crimes, including two murders (Clint Lorance) Murder (Michael Behenna) Alleged murder (Mathew Golsteyn) Arson that burned 139 acres of federal land (Steven and Dwight Hammond) Corruptly trying to sell a U.S. Senate seat for personal gain (Blagojevich) Using his high profile after the 9/11 attacks to commit tax fraud (Kerik) Refusing a judge’s order to stop detaining people suspected of being undocumented immigrants (Arpaio) So it’s not just that Trump has been unusually willing to use his powers to pardon and grant clemency to aid allies; it’s also that he’s been willing to provide clemency for types of crimes previous presidents have avoided. For one, Trump appears to be the first modern president to pardon someone for murder, and he’s done it three times — twice for military members who had been convicted and once for a soldier who was facing trial. Another way Trump has broken with past precedent is that he generally disregards the Justice Department reviews that usually precede clemency. Instead, lobbying him for pardons is often done through Fox News or fellow administration officials. The Stone clemency is in a class by itself, though — both because of Trump’s personal ties to the case and because of the underlying subject.

And no one can or wants to convince Trump to stop misusing his pardons.

The founding fathers could not imagine such a craven individual would be elected president, while we had such a toothless Congress, so they did not put a limit on such behavior. They had more faith in us than we deserved apparently

Not only where the president pardons his criminal buddies, he turns on Legitimate public servants with excellent performance records when they fail to cover for him - like Vindman having to resign his distinguished career due to trump’s bullying.
