We often hear from white people from the South the Confederacy and the Southern life style is there heritage.
In Caroline Randall Williams case, the author of the article, her heritage is slavery and family rape.
Two very different perspectives.

Two very different perspectives. I think maybe you should reread. What I got is that it is not a different perspective, but that some chose to celebrate it, because they can't actually be ignorant of what it was.

My take is closer to Rukh's. Some people celebrate the Confederacy because they wish they were in the time of slavery.

Men may have a harder time understanding it than women. And those of us who have been raped or have had attempted rape may understand it even better.
