I will watch it. I have wanted to see it live but didn't get tickets when it came to Pittsburgh.
I'm waiting until the kids are in bed, so it will be a late night for me.

I will give it a go for the sake of cultural literacy but: 1) not fond of Broadway/Hollywood "historical" shows 2) not fond of musicals 3) hip-hop isn't a style of music I enjoy

I've seen the touring show. And bootleg video of the original cast. And own the sound track.
I'm looking forward to it. But will wait until I have 3 hours of free time.

Saw it in nyc. Fabulous show. Will watch it again. Agree that listening to the soundtrack ahead of time is helpful. I think it held up to the hype

I don't have Disney+. I thought I read somewhere that Disney+ was a Hulu add-on? is that the case? I have a Hulu login, a friend left herself logged in on my fire stick. I'd like to watch it, if I can

If not Disney is 6.95 for the month. I added it to Prime. I think the add on to Hulu had Hulu commercials and I don’t do commercials... I plan to watch some old movies too and marvel and then cancel it after the month.

I'll watch it. I saw it live a year or so ago, but in the cheap seats so I'm looking forward to seeing performers faces this time 🤣

It's short compared to traditional musicals too. It's also an interesting juxtaposition since the music is more hip hop but the choreography isn't stereotypically hip hop. Plus not every song is hip hop. Plus LMM has this crazy knack for writing catchy as hell tunes that stick with you. Moana has become one of my favorite Disney movies almost entirely because of the songs which were written by him.

It does go fast. Maybe read through lyrics first? Or watch twice? A question: why watch the show? Is it entertainment? Or educational? If it is entertainment, the fact i don't enjoy the format it uses will negatively matter (to me). If it is educational, the fact that I would need to either pre-read or watch it twice negatively illustrates to me why the presentation style matters (to me).

I plan to watch some old movies too and marvel and then cancel it after the month. I had Hulu commercial free. I added Disney Plus but switched to commercials to save money (I'm cheap) . That lasted one day. I now have them bundled with no commercials, so it is possible.

You can take it both ways which is why I think it's become so loved. If you want entertainment, it is but you'll likely learn some stuff. If you're looking to learn things - yea you'll probably be better off reading a book, but there's something to be said about some delivery methods being better than others. You see a lot more people in the world singing along to a song rather than being able to quote pages of a book.
I went into it pretty much a blank slate - heard a song or two. I didn't realize it's literally all song and goes so fast because of it. I enjoyed it but didn't entirely match my expectations. There were several instances where I was like whoa what did they say that was fast. It grew on me and not long after I wanted to hear it again and listened to the soundtrack.
It's honestly probably the only full musical I'll ever like, I usually greatly dislike when it's all songs. But the hip hop aspect gives the songs a spoken quality that breaks it up nice.

It is 3 full hours, which is definitely longer than average. Maybe almost twice the length. There are a lot that are like 2 and a half hours. I think Les Mis is 3 hours (and that is a long painful show) - but Hamilton is not considered short. I am trying to think of another major show that was 3 hours.

My daughter watched it at Midnight last night, my husband tried to stay up with her, but only made the first act.
I woke up early, so I watched it this morning. Tomorrow we are going to set up dive in theater and watch it in the pool.

I would LOVE to see it, but we don't have Disney Plus, so we'll just have to be patient until the DVD is available. So glad they got the original cast. DD, DS & I saw it in person in 2018 and LOVED the show. And no, I'm not a hip hop fan. It's just plain a well done show. I've heard the filming of the performance is excellent.

I think if it was my first time hearing it, I might turn on the captions. The lyrics are brilliant, but often very fast and hard to catch all the nuances on first listening.

Going to watch it right now. My brother and SIL got Disney + recently and they can have 4 people use the sign-on so they gave one of those to me, yeah! One of the reasons they got it now was to be able to watch Hamilton. There haven't been any touring shows in our area (major boondocks country, 4 hours NW of Minneapolis) so first chance for me to view it. Looking forward to it.

I'm only half way through and can agree with it being filmed well. Enough camera movement to keep it interesting and close ups when needed, but don't ignore the full camera shot and all the chorus line or whatever they're called. The simplicity of the set helps it all too.

I don't know Billis... let's talk after But. Its a brilliant piece of writing, score, lyrics, progression, differentiation, story... both overt and subtle. And the original performers... also brilliant. I'm so excited

You don't have to participate. This is not a show everyone will appreciate. LMM geared it towards younger people for a specific reason. The fact that some people outside of the target love it helps with profitability. It is definitely cutting edge and modern. That won't appeal to certain people.

Maybe the start time was earlier than normal and I'm just forgetting that aspect. The others started at 8 and were usually until 1030-11. Maybe it started at 7? 🤷🏻♀️ It's coming back this year so if it isn't canceled I can find out. Or I'm all wrong. It was a while ago and this upcoming season is my fourth having the whole season so shit blends together.

It was supposed to come for a month here, but they have cut it down to a week, so I'm guessing the compressed their whole schedule. It is supposed to be here in September. I do not have high hopes of being able to see it. If they aren't open on Broadway, not sure why they would be safe here. I think the shortest musical we saw was 'Summer: The Musical'. And thank god it was short as it was pretty awful. It didnt have an intermission - probably because someone was afraid everyone would leave, which is demoralizing for the cast.
