The other big question is why these fools did not say these things 3 months ago?

If trump catches it, he'll just put on more bronzer and say "Look at me. I'm as healthy as a 30 year old."

Maybe he can bronzer up a mask, draw on some obnoxious puckered lips with a sharpie, then put it on but convince his base that he's not wearing a mask at all? Or he could just say, "I was so quick to wear masks. I was wearing masks before anyone else. A lot of people are saying how great my mask wearing is. It's a beautiful thing!" ...and they'll lap it up and ask for more.

If you are giving a speech, you don't wear a mask during the speech. He will also claim he never said anything bad about masks (which might be true - has he actually discouraged or disparaged masks in a public statement?)

I haven't seen LESS mask wearing since March. Really? It is pretty ubiquitous around here. Granted, I generally only go to the grocery store and they have an armed guard at the door and won't let you in without one, but everyone leaves it on inside. Everyone seems quite respectful. Outside is more of a mixed bag. It is so hot, so if there few people, and they aren't clumped together, masks are less common. For example, most people walking their dog aren't wearing a mask. I'm having trouble wearing one at work. I go into work once every week or two. Yesterday there was one other person on my entire floor. I was supposed to put on my mask when I leave my individual office and go to the bathroom, coffee maker, microwave, printer, etc, but I kept forgetting. I've worked there for 15 years, it feels like home - it is like remembering to put a mask on when I leave my TV room, when I am alone in my house.

Phoenix - Central. thanks. that makes me a lot more optimistic. AZ is on a horrific curve right now.

The other big question is why these fools did not say these things 3 months ago? I'm guessing their brains finally caught up on the math and they realized they are in the most at risk group. Can't hold your seat if you are dead.

I don't see the point of wearing a mask outside if I'm social distancing. I don't wear a mask outside.

""I don't see the point of wearing a mask outside if I'm social distancing. I don't wear a mask outside."""
'Corn producers reduce the chance of cross-contamination via pollen drift by separating fields by at least 150 feet; however, many identity preserved corn programs require that non-GMO fields be separated from GMO corn by a distance of at least 660 feet.'
Theoretically, I'm guessing that a breeze could carry a virus in a moisture drop-lett way beyond the 6 feet of separation that we are using as the 'safe' distance indoors.

The masks when you are far enough away outside is likely not necessary. Wind will also cause the virus to dissipate more quickly, and will likely dry out the particles more quickly. Risk can only be eliminated by being a hermit. Everyone needs to determine their risk tolerance. I feel comfortable outside unmasked with enough distance

The shift has begun: “But I’m all for masks, I think masks are good,” the president said, adding that he has been seen wearing one in situations where he was in a group of people.
“Usually I’m not in that position,” said Trump, who noted that “everyone gets tested [for Covid-19] before they see me.”
But “I’d have no problem,” Trump said. “I had a mask on, I sort of liked the way i looked.” link

I walk my dog with a neighbor; we drive separately to the trail and I stay behind her so I can control the distance (she isn't taking it as seriously as I am). Yesterday, I met with 8 women in a group I belong to - haven't seen them since March. We met outside at a garden club and sat inside a large gazebo. We spaced out the chairs, but there wasn't enough room for 6'; we were about 3' apart; we all wore masks.

Republicans are openly contradicting him. He has lousy approval ratings on how he is handling Covid. He thought he could cover it up and it would be gone by election day, but as it turns out, we will be in this mess for awhile. He needs to get back some credibility on this, and he can't do it by insulting Fauci.

I was waiting for my DH to drive up to pick me up...outside! But it had just finished raining & humidity had be in the lower 90's or upper 80's %. I kept my mask on until we left the hospital grounds. There were several folks in the pickup area, but we were all over 6' apart...but I am not taking any chances. ETA...In fact, now that I think about it...everyone had on a mask that was out there & only one dude with a foot long beard took his off before entering his vehicle.

In the bigger city north of us I'm seeing a lot more wearing masks. In our small town, not many, mostly us older folks. The rest just don't care I guess. I think they are mad the restaurants aren't open. I think a couple may be, otherwise its still carryout. We have been lucky that it is not surging here. But I think its because not a lot of people come here. Though there are delivery drivers and out of state people coming through on the interstate. Maybe less are stopping with the restaurants closed.

Transmission is much less efficient outside

Trump can be manipulated. Too bad they have chosen not to use that piece of information through his whole presidency.

Too little, too late. Now he is a follower instead of a leader. But somehow he will spin it that he was the biggliest proponents of masks

I think he will confuse some of his followers. They may not know what to do. Will be interesting what the governors do now
