My kids' orthodontist is in Canada. Both are almost done with their treatments.
The border has been closed since March, and the Canadian Government does not consider orthodontic treatment to be essential, so we can't get there. right now the border is closed until July 21, then it will be revisited. There is talk about closing the border for a year until the US gets their shit together.
I've already paid in full, $5,000 each.
Now what?

This is what you get for trusting foreigners with your health.

Have you looked into sneaking them over the boarder? From what I see on tv it is simple to do.

But if I get caught, I can't go back again. And if they arrest me, i just sit in Ottawa until they process my case. That would kinda suck.

I suspect that you are not the only one in this situation. Have you contacted them for guidance on what you should do, and at what point something has to be done. Unfortunately, given our wonderful response to the pandemic, I do not see you getting over the border, and at some point you will hit a point where you have to do something with the braces. Orthodontists likely run into situations where they have to pick up in the middle due to families moving, so this may not be as difficult as you fear. Probably going to cost you, but since you are a rich lawyer, no big deal, right

How much is almost done? If I'm recalling right the last little bit of braces wasn't much adjusting at all. Keeping them on until 2021 would suck but I'm not sure it would cause any damage.
I think finding an orthodontist here to take over would be tough and probably cost a lot. I remember when I was in college and my permanent retainer popped off on one side. I remember calling one place and they were like oh yea we won't deal with that call your orthodontist. So I had to drive an hour back home for a 15 minute fix. Kind of ridiculous but my ortho was awesome (I had braces twice so was there for around 4 or 5 years of treatment so they knew me well) and didn't charge me.

Have you gone up and talked to the Canadian border patrol? How many more treatments do they need?
I would not attempt to sneak across. The repercussions are too high AND they never, ever forget!

Her braces were falling off. The AZhat dentist that I chose, close to my house, took them off then told me I had to pay full price to get them put back on. Foolishly but because no one was taking patients, I continued with that dentist. After years of feeling bad about this, my DD said her dentist told her that her correction was well done. I don't know how, her lower jaw was slightly sagging.

I have not talked to them, but the orthodontist has been in regular contact with them since he has a pretty large number of American patients. I don't know of the number of treatments they need, but they are both one or two visits away from having their braces off and retainers installed.

My siblings and I were lucky; our orthodontist was my dad's dental school roommate. It only cost my dad the cost of the material. Labor was 'free' as was my father's labor taking care of our orthodontist and his family's teeth.

Have the had the molds for the retainers done or was that what the next visit was going to do? they have not been done yet So it sounds like the kids just need their retainers made/fitted and then the braces removed. With that basic info you could possibly call some here and ask if they would even take that on. Offices here might be able to give you more of a yay/nay with that info than just saying you need to transfer your kids care because that could mean practically anything.

Labor was 'free' as was my father's labor taking care of our orthodontist and his family's teeth. It's times like this that I really miss my job. A friend of mine did both of my parents dental implants for the cost of materials. I think that for their implants, they paid $500 - combined. I could get my teeth cleaned when I needed and someone had time in their schedule. I have had a few fillings replaced for free. I had my crowns replaced (and he did an incredible job - I think he's now working in Beverly Hills now) for the cost of putting together my prosthedontist's Powerpoint presentation.

DNephew1 and his wife are waiting for baby's passport to move to Toronto. They have been told they can only cross the border in New York with the paperwork the University of Toronto is providing and that they have to quarantine for 14 days on arrival.

Send him to Mexico, have him cross the boarder and you meet him there. Then do the reverse after he's done. I've heard this is super easy to do.
