FB fact checker

After all the heat FB has received and advertising dollars pulled, I noticed on my feed that people who were posting false information and I would question them on, now have FB fact checker blocks on their posts.  Thank goodness!  I was getting tired of arguing with stupid!

A day late and a dollar short. If they had acted like a responsible corporation, and prevented blatantly false information from being spread, we might not be in our current predictament

I don't have/do Facebook, so not to offend....can you explain to me why people say they fight & argue ?  Doesn't that sound silly?

Maybe we think there is someone undecided who may be silently reading.

I also feel like silence is agreement. I usually state my opposite opinion and then back away. Otherwise, people just assume that everyone believes they are right. At least a small rebuke will make them say that everyone except that one crazy ass stupid person who I havent seen since 3rd grade thinks I am right.

It's not so much fighting.  People post incorrect information (for example someone posted something on fake black live matter letter head, that claimed they were going after white people and a bunch of other lies).  Others try to post facts, etc, and they try to argue that their original information is correct.  FB has now blocked that post as non factual.  There are several others. 

Most are memes so I always ask for a link to prove the facts.  Now hopefully FB is catching this before I have to read the nonsense and respond.

If a fact checker actually worked, my FB feed would cease to exist. As a musician, I have a very wide/diverse range of "friends" on FB. The misinformation and outright BS comes from every part of the political spectrum. 

If a particular story interests me, I do my own check on it. The need to verify is important because if some of the bullshit that is being slung around on FB was true, it would truly be terrifying.

I guess I have 2 choices.....I either don't care about most things so why bother, or I don't know any of these people, and I still don't care. Old age has it's advantages.

A facebook user posted the below on Snopes' Facebook page asking if this was true.  She saw the post on Facebook.  That the poster had to ask Snopes if this was true is a head scratchier.

No, you can't argue with stupid.  I sometimes try to educate the ignorant, but it doesn't seem to work.

I don't argue with random people on the internet.  I have given up trying to offer a different view to some of my friends and acquaintances, because the usual response is a strident tirade.

People who notice the misspellings and stop to think are not this memes target audience.
