on pence's "under control" comment? Do you think that there's even one governor who will risk trump's wrath and speak up about the seriousness of the raging contagion, shut down their states, and mandate masks?

And do you think that SCOTUS will go along with trump's burning desire to deny health insurance to however many million Americans? Remember how trump promised a health plan bigger and better and cheaper? If SCOTUS shreds the ACA, will trump's base realize that they no longer have health insurance but stick with him because they're laboring under the impression that the ACA they signed up for is different than the Obamacare they despise?

It seems to me that trump is playing a game of chicken. And he's winning.

I just about choked when Florida's governor claimed this week he was "begging" people to get tested back in March.  As I remember it, there was a long list of symptoms you HAD to have, before they'd even allow you to get tested.  Total lie!  And, shortage of testing supplies, too.  

And now, the number of new cases almost doubled, compared to yesterday.  That's what you get for kowtowing to the president.

I just saw one of trump's campaign people trumpsplaining that of course there are a lot of cases in CA, AZ, TX, because there are more people there. Hardly any cases in Montana, though, because there are so few people in Montana. Duh.

Az GOP Governor Ducey is trying to walk the tightrope. He is asking everyone to do the right thing, but won't make it mandatory.

He wore a mask to the rally last week, but not all day. Lots of pictures with him not wearing a mask.

CA and TX, sure, but not Arizona. It is 16th in population, and just moved ahead of Michigan (#10) in number of cases, and we had all kinds of protests here in Michigan.

Also, CA and TX may be slightly more populous than NY, but do they really want to follow in NY's footsteps here? They are moving up way too fast. Florida is definitely following NYs footsteps, and it's about to get really ugly for them.

Ours is only slightly less deranged. He wears one occasionally for show, but he's so far into Trumplandia territory at this point, he's built an outhouse there and he's cohabiting with the toddler-in-chief.

Jacksonville is hosting the RNC in August. Governor's idea, of course; it will bring jobs and revenue to the city. Of course, that won't be much good if it kills people before they get to spend their money, but hey, so what?

We kind of have opposite problem here.  Our governor has been opening up things very slowly, much too slowly according to the local Republicans.  So, they've been revving up their base to protest in front of the governor's residence.  Because, they're infringing on our rights, including the right to die young, and bring illness into our households, yanno...

Of course he says that now. In between blaming immigrants in the fields (absurd, since the harvest season is over), old people in nursing homes (he's been lying about those deaths since Day 1, under-reporting them until now, when the numbers are too out of control to ignore (b), and young people drinking in bars (booze-only or primary establishments are still closed) for the increase in numbers. Easier that taking the fall for reopening too soon for the sake of pleasuring the president, that pandering twerpdick.

And we get protesters screaming about their rights, too. Tell you what. Ship them all over to the Island of Palm Beach and let them roam the streets near Mar-A-Lago. And pull up the drawbridges, so they cannot leave. A very fitting condition for them to live in, with someone who thinks of them as "his people."

AZ has a lot of unhealthy people. The Reservations have a lot of health problems, and there are a lot of unhealthy lifestyles here. Having a high death rate doesn't surprise me a bit.

we've had rallies here in MA, too. the town I moved from is the only red town on the Cape, and they have hosted "Open the Cape" rallies right at the canal, Trump signs all over the place. fucking idiots.

Governor Hogan (R-MD) has done well so far and isn't afraid to contradict the president in order to protect the state. I was concerned that he was opening us up too fast, but our cases are still down. 

Masks are still mandatory indoors. I live in the redneck part of MD and people are wearing them, although sometimes their noses are sticking out. I did have to send a workman to his truck to get a mask when he showed up at my house without one, but he was fine getting it out of his truck and putting it on when I asked.

Too late for Arizona? What are you kicking the state out of the union? No sympathy for the people? As long as it is too late for Arizona, it is also too late for NY, NJ, RI, MA, D.C., CT, LA, DE, IL, and MD. Heck, may as well say it's too late for Vatican City.

No, I am not kicking them out of the union. My comment has to do with the fact that your fate is sealed. The virus is out of control, and nothing, short of another shutdown is going to help. You will see a dramatic increase in deaths in a few weeks, and like the northeast, it will take a long time for cases to decline. The lack of leadership compounds your issues. NE governors made mistakes early on, but did buckle down and do what was needed, and are only slowly releasing restrictions. We have our own set of idiots, but the governors are doing their jobs. What is unfortunate is that the states that are spiking did not learn from our lessons of what needed to be done, and what not to do. There will be needless suffering and deaths as a result. And the idea that it is not that bad because younger people are getting it is outrageous, because many of them are getting sick.

I do not wish anyone to catch this, or have to be exposed treating this based on my experience. I am just commenting on the math of the situation. You are in a phase of significant exponential growth. It cannot be controlled with half measures, and based on your leaders response, you are the only one who can keep yourself well. I live in a place where cases and hospitalizations are declining, but lived through a very awful 2 months. It was a hard fought fight to get here. You are only getting started. My condolences.

We are having to prepare for round 2 up here, because it is coming, sooner than I wish due to our inability to control this. Fauci said there could be 100k cases a day if we do not change course. Sobering number, and if true, we are probably looking at 2k + deaths a day again.

I don't see another shutdown in AZ's near future. AZ started another month-long pause. I hope it helps, but due to the lag-time, I doubt it will make a significant difference.  And yay, Pence is coming by to visit us tomorrow.

AZ didn't close until like last week. are you kidding me? I was getting texts and snapchats from my friend out there, from the casino and gym, until just a couple weeks ago!
