A year ago, Trump's big idea to reduce health care costs was to import prescription drugs from outside the US.
Today, Senator McSally (R) is putting out ads saying that too many of our drugs are imported and we should use laws to lower that.
Does the Republican party have a policy statement about prescriptions? Did it change when Covid happen? Are they following voter opinion, or is it just kinda scatter shot, hoping they get a hit?

Trump's big beautiful prescription plan went the way of the big beautiful healthcare plan.
Who knew healthcare was so hard?

They may have had an oh crap moment around COVID. One of the audit ideas my group was looking at was the fact that 95% of raw ingredients in our generic drugs, even those manufactured here, comes from China.
While, yes prescription drug costs are crazy, I don't think complete reliance on other countries is smart either.
I use allergy eye drops that used to be prescription only. As a prescription, my copay was $75 and that wasn't covering the entire costs. On the shelf at Target, they are $18 for the same size bottle. I'm sure part of the issue is the many layers in the pharmacy process and everyone expects to be paid.
