Intimidation. That's how the current administration rolls. And Barr is just an enabler. The Swamp has turned into a nest of vipers. I think of it as a cesspool. A nest of vipers implies one could actually oust Trump. Something sadly they are unwilling to do.

It's staggering how many Trump appointees have written books about him. All of them agree that he's dangerously unfit for office.
Naturally, Trump, the pathological liar, is calling them all liars.

I will not be buying his book because he has acted like a nutless ballsack by refusing to testify but then writing his tell all book that should have been included in congressional testimony. I won't reward that behavior.
But I might borrow someone's copy...............

I'm not rewarding Bolten for knowing all this damning stuff and not being enough of a man to take it to Congress when it mattered. That guy can suck a bag of dicks.

A bootleg copy of the book is out so all the lawyer wrangling is useless right now. Bolton gets no royalties, and the information gets out. I think it’s pretty funny myself.

I'm reading it now. About 160 pages in. Very detailed (doubt it's made up). Not a whole lot of "dirt" yet except Trump getting played by Kim & Putin. But I've yet to reach the Ukraine incident on the timeline.
I will say that they likely do have a point with the Classified Info claim. There's a lot there and I'm sure some of it breaks the rules. Bolton's probably gonna have to pay the piper.

Google has removed the link. I wonder how many people managed to print off hard copies before it was removed?

Like you said, 160 pages in, with nothing of note.

BTW...Trump getting played by Kim & Putin isn't exactly nothing. But you can continue to grasp for any debris that will float now that the Titanic is foundering. Hint: it's only gonna get worse.

My husband told me last night not to buy it - that he had ordered it. I did not tell him, but I had not planned to order it. If I had, I probably would have tried to get the free audio book from the library. I am contemplating listening to some anti-racist type literature from the library. I figured I was more likely to finish listening to an audiobook than actually reading something that is not purely enjoyment.
I asked DH if he would actually read the book. DH does read the newspaper, but I have not known him to read a book in our 28 year marriage. OTOH, I read all the time.

I'm at page 360. BTW, the prose is 445 pages long. The rest are photos and many pages of footnotes and references.
This is written as an actual memoir of Bolton's entire time on the job as National Security Adviser, rather than a "smear Trump" piece, so it does not contain a constant stream of "juicy" stuff that many may be looking for. Instead, there's much on the situations Bolton dealt with: tensions with Iran and NK and their nuclear programs, the Syria situation and withdrawal, the NATO situation, the near-revolution in Venezuela, meetings with Kim, Xi, South Korea, The European Leaders, the Chinese Trade War, etc. A quick scan ahead shows that the Ukraine stuff doesn't start until page 401, so near the end of the book, and Bolton had resigned before the sh*t really hit the fan so what info is there might be limited. The media has already covered the main talking points on Trump revealed by the parts of book that I've read so far. His most predominant flaw presented by Bolton is that the foreign dictators know how to play Trump and his vanity to string him along and/or get what they want, but also the chaotic nature of the administration, high turnover, problems with Trump shooting from the hip, waffling, and flip-flopping decisions with his "instincts", taking the advice of foreign dictators over his own intelligence agencies, his ineptitude in making tough decisions in times of crisis, and of course, the tweets, but we knew this stuff already. We'll see if the Ukraine chapter reveals anything more. I should have this thing done tonight.
EDIT: One theme that is evident is that Trump is not a strong foreign policy leader in the slightest, but rather sort of a p*ssy. Ok, a GIANT p*ssy. Given that opinion is filtered through the lens of hard-liner Bolton, but it also goes contrary to the tweet fasod where Trump tries to project strength and toughness when in reality his actions are [cliche] mostly focused on himself, re-election, and how he'll appear to the public rather than doing what's best for the country[/cliche]. His base would be best served by understanding this since a lot of them seem to want a leader who is "rah rah tough guy 'Murica" while apparently Trump is quite the opposite IRL.

welp - I'm a little on the fence about it all.
Sounds like it's not the kind of thing I enjoy reading (dry, methodically paced with lots of boring stuff, etc.), but I don't begrudge him making some money off the efforts.
Yes - he didn't do the right thing when it would have potentially made a real difference - but is this his attempt at recompense? trying to be better late than never?
Eventually, it will all come to light - but it will take a lot longer if everyone is trying to keep the secrets, so certainly not a bad thing he is recording his knowledge for posterity.
Are the papers sealed for 50 years or something after a prez leaves office?

I think I am with someone I heard on TV about this: that what Bolton "exposes" is not the much different than the Trump persona, because the man has no "off" button. Nixon would save all of the ni88er talk for his office. Trump flaunts it. he loves disgusting people who have sensitivities, and uses it to his advantage, like any good sociopath.
the only thing this book does is, like so many other accounts, confirm what we already know. the man is a pig, and lacks competence in general leadership and governance.

Similar to your fiction of what people are grasping. Funny in a sad kind of way. Another hint.
