swamp , same thing happened to one of MIL's dogs. Someone threw an edible in her yard on 4/20. I hope it was a kid who didn't know any better but it could have been an idiot who thought it might calm down her yapppy dogs. I'm glad your dog is feeling better. big or little dog? did the dog recover? Little white fluffy thing a coton de tulear. He recovered.

Geeze, I'm sorry. I've tried smoking pot on several occasions and never really gotten high from it. Last vacation a friend had eddibles they flew in from a state where it's legal. Holy fucking balls did that knock me on my ass. I went from perfectly fine to holy fucking balls what the hell am I on ( it takes an hour or more to kick in so I momentarily forgot). That same amount in something weighing significantly less than me? I don't even wanna know. And then if dogs have a bad reaction to pot? Damn. Glad she's on the mend!

Unless the THC test was positive, and you didn't say, I'd assume living on the water toads are more likely.
The common toads in CA will kill a dog that bites one.
I've had plenty of weed around dogs and they aren't interested in eating it. A dog isn't going to eat a joint any more than eat a cigarette butt on the street. Edibles are expensive, so most people would keep track of those...
Sorry, whatever happened to your dog and I hope they will make a full recovery! In my old 'hood I had a neighbor poisoning with antifreeze and it made me paranoid my dogs would get out...

Anyone who says a dog wouldn't eat a cigarette butt never met my previous lab. I swear she had pica.
Her poos in the backyard were like a bizarre archeological dig.
I'm fairly certain she never ate a cigarette butt but if she'd found one it would have been swallowed before I would have been able to say no.

Not quite the same thing as eating weed.

I'm sorry to hear that. I would probably go around and talk to the neighbors. It could help prevent another accident. Maybe a parent threw the edibles in the woods, but now they will know if they find more to flush them. And in the very worst case scenario if someone did it on purpose maybe someone will speak up and you will know if you need to prevent the dog from roaming. Either way someone probably has an idea of what happened, and you will probably feel better if you know.

We've had a few trips to the vet and induced vomiting for crap she's eaten.

She now doesn't want to wander. she stays very close by.

My lab would eat anything too. I had to always crate her during the day or she'd open cupboards and just start eating shit. Like laundry detergent!

And throwing out an edible because they were arguing. Or throwing it to the dog to see what would happen. Dogs eat all sorts of horrible stuff.

I guess I presumed this, since the vet said the levels were indicative of synthetic THC.

I’m sorry this happened to your dog, but it is a risk you take when you let an animal roam the neighborhood. Not everybody is going to be OK with someone else’s pets coming on to their property.
I had to put us up a fence in my yard because I had three kids under seven and these morons on the trail behind my house would let their unleashed 80 pound dogs go into a yard that’s full of toddler toys. I don’t know what these people were thinking.

I don’t know what these people were thinking. We have spoken with the neighbors. She is fine. She has been known to have been invited in for snacks and naps at one place (Unfortunately, that is one of the places we suspect may have drugs, the owners have young adults who party). the kids (3 and 5) next door play ball with her. The dog next to them comes over to play whenever she gets free. This one isn't supposed to roam because she goes up to the road. My dog goes 200 yards away, max. If I'm looking for her and I go down to the shoreline, I can see her. Unless she's taking a nap. There are other dogs too, so it's not like she's the only one.

I know you guys ssw the day I had to induce vomiting for T2's dog when he swallowed a sock. He's a red heeler/goat mix. Jackson picks stuff up off the ground too. He's always throwing up stuff. Mostly grass/leaves.

Why are you so invested in it not being what the vet said it is, @shastasnewlife ? I'd swear you were Swamp's neighbor trying to protest your innocence except we all know you aren't.
The vet said two tests came back positive for THC. That came from somewhere.

The vet said two tests came back positive for THC. That came from somewhere. People who believe that marijuana is a miracle drug go all in. It should not be illegal, but should be regulated. It, like every other substance we ingest, has negative consequences. The most irritating part of this is the state governments deciding what it is effective for. Marijuana should be treated like every other drug. Tested rigorously, and have it be approved by the FDA if it is effective. Anything else, and you are no better than people pushing supplements, or trump pushing hydroxychroloquine

Dh's hospital treats multiple pot dogs a week. Especially with edibles it's very common and unfortunately can be life threatening so it's good you caught it early.
