I think I'll stick to being Episcopalian in name only. I really have no interest in religion whatsoever. All people seem to do is think their God is better than everyone else's and try to kick the shit out of them for it. To my seriously crappy religion (un)educated mind, it's the same God. Get over yourselves.

About those evangelicals...I was asked once by a true bible-thumping, speaking-in-tongues, evangelical Christian if Catholics are Christians. An immediate family member (raised Catholic, attended Catholic schools through college) married an evangelical Christian. We Catholic family members are definitely “less than”, “unwashed”, not yet “saved”, etc. Don’t get me started, LOL...🙄 Many years ago when flying to Oklahoma to attend my grandfather's funeral, I sat next to a woman who was involved in a senior administrative role (I forget her exact title now) in a reproductive choice organization (again, I've forgotten exactly which one) in Oklahoma City. Knowing how evangelical-intensive Oklahoma is, I asked her about their reaction to her organization. She said they were fairly low-key because they didn't want to risk being associated with the Catholics, which would apparently be worse. |

I just noticed in the picture Melania is wearing a sleeveless dress. Where is the outrage? Meh. She’s Slovenian, so probably Orthodox Christian. Orthodox dogma holds that Roman Catholics don’t practice a true religion. Hence, no need to dress piously at a Catholic Church. ETA: oops!! She IS Catholic!! Heresy!! |

Yup. In my mind's eye, I can see all those heads of state in other countries rushing around, declaring that they must comply with trump's EO on international religious freedom.
Sorry. There's nothing that trump can do or say to mitigate his most recent performances, most notably last night's. He can only make it worse.

Maybe that's a way to compensate the religous for dropping out of the WHO?? The US tends to attach religious value strings to the money it gives to the WHO. If religious values cannot be pushed on other countries that way.. perhaps the this executive order is opening up a new way to do it? Those religious strings sometimes have to do with pushing "abstinence" as a solution to unwanted children (abortions) and for a way to deal with AIDs versus something that might actually help to decrease unwanted children and AIDS. |
