From the link in the OP:
And those handful of house colleagues Lewis had contact with then had contact with their families who then had contact with others outside of the home.
Not buying his explanation.

Inexcusable. This is why we will not have this under any control. The desire to keep the severity of the outbreak from the public is unconsionable, and will prolong and intensify it.

Me neither. He did it to not be part of the story and keep the re-open going as Trump wants. Diamond is just a whiner. I wonder what he really would have said had he not been told and therefore not quarantined himself.

I'm so disgusted with people anymore. I am at a fatalistic "let her rip" stage. I am protecting myself as well as I can. The rest of you, do as you will and we will see who is standing when we get to the other side.

Everytime that thought pops into my mind, I remember people like me will get caught in the fallout, and I hope we will behave better

I saw that this morning, and was utterly flabbergasted.

Waiting until after Memorial Day was particularly d***ish. I'm sure that several colleagues would have observed the stay at home order a little more scrupulously if they had known that there was a case in their workplace.

I won't tell you about my contagious medical condition because that would violate your privacy?
Or is it that I won't tell you about my contagious medical condition, because then you might guess that my spouse also had that condition and it would violate my spouse's privacy.
That's fine. Just stay home until you are clear.

It is actually not fine. If someone had significant exposure to the infected person, they should quarantine to avoid the possibility of spreading it to others. You have no idea if the person who you exposed has significant contact with a high risk individual. That is why this is a situation where medical privacy is not absolute. We are required to report positive tests to the state, no exceptions. If you have an infectious disease with a significant chance of causing severe disease, and you do not disclose it to those who you knowingly exposed, you are immoral.

And they wonder why we can’t get a handle on cases.
I don’t get this. They want to open the country, but then do shit like this and that negates the last month of staying at home to control spread. Why are they sabotaging themselves?

Why are they sabotaging themselves? They can't admit how bad it is. If they do, people will want to continue to stay at home, and the economy will not improve. It will also show how badly they screwed the pooch with their response.

And you don’t think that the uptick in cases will show that?
Whoops, I forgot. We are pulling a China and now lying about the numbers. My bad.

If you don't test, you can't have cases. If they do not have a positive test, they died from "pneumonia". And half the country is too stupid to know any better. Aren't the republicans the ones who want to prosecute an HIV+ person who knowingly infects another individual for murder. How is this any different?

I'm off-topic here, but this seems like a good time to mention that I spent a good chunk of last night drinking champagne in honor of one of my heroes and searching my garage for the ACT-UP t-shirt that is still there. I'll miss Larry Kramer.
And yeah, the comparison between who we were then and who we are now is stunning.

I'd always thought that Sir Bob delivered that line, but it was Bono. But what really blows my mind is that we once understood such a line of song instead of deliberately misunderstanding it.

What? Did this line have meaning other than 'glad I'm not suffering like those people'?

Pretty soon this will become "we are lying like an American" in the world. At this point in time many people around the world are still willing to assume only trump and his cronies are dirty lying bags of smelly brown stuff. That won't hold up all that much longer. And a reputation lost is not easy to restore...

She is being asked to resign, and in return she is being promised some "free flight benes for about a year" and some other miscellaneous benes. I told her that given how much fights were down, and how many employees/former employees have fight benefits - the promise of free fights for a year, is not going to amount to much. She then said that the fights that are taking off are about 60-70% full. She has also told me how many planes are grounded and how few flights are scheduled. She was reading me international flights last night and a lot of the normal flights are just cancelled. Like a flight from NY to Tel-Aviv - not flying Rn. There were flights to England and France that are not flying right now too. Multiply that across multiple airlines, and you can get an idea of how that might affect the economy. No flights, no room reservations, no tourists visiting attractions and spending $$. I had already thought that international travelers would refuse to come here b/c we don't have the CV-19 infections under control - add the unrest in Minneapolis, and yeah. I wonder what international students are going to do about attending school and U of M in fall? I also have been thinking about MPL's son. Yikes.

True, but November is just around the corner. That would be my "pretty soon". It is up to the American voters what will happen at that time

I need to do something quite intimate with another person to catch it, but I am really afraid of getting it. But with COVID, I could catch it by just being in the wrong place/wrong time, but it is no big deal. Unbelievable.

Well all those people getting HIV shouldn't be doing those things in the first place. I am a pious white person who only has sex during marriage and we all know that being married in the eyes of the Lord means I can't get HIV. And in turn since I am a pious married under the Lord white straight non-addict person you requiring me to wear a mask infringes on my rights. My sputum and the likes of me do not exhale COVID. Again it's all those sub human people that need to be wearing masks. I need to be protected from THEM, not the other way around. Seriously you end up down a F-ed up rabbit hole when you start to follow the train of thought. There are well documented studies about the racism, sexism, homophobia, etc in medicine. Even during a global pandemic we can't escape it.

They parked a lot of the grounded airplanes in our airport. It is amazing to drive past there and see dozens of planes all lined up. Meanwhile, the normal cadence of planes taking off every two minutes is gone. If you are lucky you will see a plane moving - ground or air, or in between.
