Happened to watch a different news channel than I usually watch. They had the county DA discussing the charges against Jacobs. No charges being pursued by the DA.
In June 2019 Jacobs put a down payment on a house in OP. He closed on the house in OP in late September. He listed his OP address on his signature papers for getting on the ballot (despite never living there). He voted in last year's primary in early September in the OP district. He's been living in his Bflo house, because of Covid and to be near his mom (as told to the DA).
So the DA is not pursuing the 3 issues. The signature pages were filed in Albany (so not the DA's jurisdiction). The filing and voting in OP but not living there part, the DA looked at as fuzzy. He shouldn't have voted there before he technically closed on the house, but he'd essentially bought the house when he put down the down payment, and was doing renovations (good reason not to be living there yet). And Covid as reason to stay in Bflo house. It's not illegal to own more than one house, no hard rules about hours/days spent in main house, etc.
But, OP is in NY 27. The district he's trying to win to represent. Buffalo is a different district, that's represented by Brian Higgins, and a very democrat district. So the purchase of the OP house was important to establish residency in the district.

Well, Connecticut doesn't allow mail in voting, at all. It's a pain for people like me who make a point of voting.
There was some talk of allowing mail in voting due to COVID 19 but nothing came of it. They postponed the primaries, that's all. We'll also have to vote in person in November.
I really don't understand the mindset. Let's move forward, let's give more people the chance to vote, and to research all the issues we're voting for. It's a horrible feeling arriving at the voting booth and having to choose a YES or NO for an item you didn't even know would be in the ballot. Voting by mail, or make it a holiday. And CT is one of the most progressive states, I don't understand why all politicians here are so dead set in voting in person only.

I do understand the logic. Going to vote is considered a patriotic activity, and TBH you lose this when you vote by mail. Stupid as it sounds, I really miss getting the ‘I voted’ stickers and going into work. I miss the excitement. Until the last 7 years, I have always gone to a polling place. I do my homework and go in with my cheat sheet as to how I want to vote. WA only has vote by mail, and it takes some of the excitement out of voting when you drop your ballot off a week before election day. Because you have a mail delay, you do not get immediate results. We get our results on close races about 2-3 WEEKS after the day is over, which is kind of a let down. That being said, I do prefer WA’s option but I understand the reluctance to do this. TBH, if I were you I would file for an absentee ballot. You have a physical condition that makes voting a risk for you.
