I BOUght 5000 IU of vitamin D on Amazon. Been taking this amount for about a year and blood levels are fine I’m very fair so use sunscreen about #50 year round so probably not making much vitamin D from sunshine.

For everyone looking for flour: You can buy King Arthur Flour directly from their website. I have no idea what it costs.
Our bakery is now selling KA flour as part of our "pantry" items because we still have access to 50# bags of it. Not a reasonable amount to keep at home for most people. Anyone in MA can PM me if you'd like. Check with any local bakeries to see if they have "pantry" items. We're selling flour, sugar and chocolate chips. No yeast because we only use fresh and it comes by the pound. Alas, they're out there, too. Meijer had some this week, the regular and wheat.

Has anyone tried buying Vitamin D? The reports on its effects are mixed- apparently people who have more severe cases of COVID-19 tend to have Vitamin D deficiencies, which is certainly not equivalent to "Take lots of Vitamin D so you're less likely to have a severe case" but.... given the horde mentality I wouldn't be surprised if it was hard to find. I'll have to check when I do my regular grocery shopping tomorrow. I've been taking it as a supplement for years. Looks like Amazon has plenty.

My work is all about safety, and this came through an email today regarding hand sanitizer: "A SAFETY ALERT was issued to several electric generation facilities, after an employee was burned after using hand sanitizer. Summary: April 2020, at Gasscoin Haugesund, Norway, a Gassco employee used alcohol based hand sanitizer, as recommended during the COVID-10 pandemic. The individual touched a metal surface before the liquid evaporated. Due to static electricity, the vapor from the hand sanitizer ignited with an almost invisible flame on both hands. The person quickly managed to get to a sink to extinguish the flames. The individual suffered first and second degree burns to the hand." Just something to keep in mind. Probably not so much a problem in the humid spring and summer seasons/areas. Wow. That’s not something that would have occurred to me as a possibility. Thanks. Yeah that! Thanks.

Ouch!!! I might hit you up!!

I don't bake much so I buy an annual bag of flour and keep it in the freezer.

I work in specialty retail in Massachusetts. Among many other things, we sell trees, shrubs, annuals, perennials, etc. We grow most of our own annuals and bring perennials and nursery stock in from trusted growers with whom we have long-standing relationships.
We are Zone 5/a little bit of 6, so tender plants don’t get planted around here until after Memorial Day due to overnight frosts. That means Memorial Day weekend is THE biggest sales weekend of the entire year for my employer. Sales over the 4 days (Friday through Monday) easily break 7 figures. We hire off-duty police officers to direct traffic it is that busy as people load up on flowers, veggie seedlings, hanging baskets, etc.
At least that is how it used to be.
Due to folks being at home and fears of food shortages, our veggie Seedling stock — 3 days BEFORE Memorial Day weekend — is at END OF JUNE levels. We saw the early demand and planted 60% more than last year and we are still nearly sold out. People are even asking to buy seedlings we consider too young to leave our greenhouses there is that much anxious demand. Many of our customers this Spring are new to gardening, which worries me that our usual customer base that will make the trek to shop with us this weekend will be left empty-handed and upset. We’ve reached out to local growers to try and re-stock, but their inventory is also wiped out.
Now, granted, in time, local farms and farm stands and, hopefully, farmer’s markets, will have produce for sale, so the anxiety is a little extreme, but, still, it has been unnerving to watch this all play out over the past few weeks.

GRG - I tried to buy some plum trees for my new yard back just after this started. Every nursery I could find online was sold out for 2020 and had waiting lists for 21, 22...

I just checked the vitamin aisle in my local grocery store. Yep- out of Vitamin D except for the large, economy size.

I have limited my going outdoors to the grocery store once every few weeks so I have no clue what is sold out in our area. However, before this whole WFH/SIP thing started I had a very nice selection of herbal teas. Today, hump day #10 since this all started, I have little of it left and I wil have to expand my shopping range since there was nothing I liked at my regular grocery store. I may find out that herbal teas are on the endangered species list.

Amazon charged me today for my quarterly shipment of toilet paper. Now to see if it actually ships. Case of Charmin arrived today. I'm set for another 3 months.

Not exactly sold out, but ... DH needs some blood work done, and Quest has no slots available until July?? That would never have occurred to me. I need blood work soon, and have never needed an appointment. But since you mentioned this, I checked and found that appointments are now recommended, and the hours have been shortened. I made an appointment. Thanks!

Wow ........ I had blood work done a couple of weeks ago and I just walked in. It was at 7am when they opened and I was fasting, so had a banana on my way to work after.
It was at LabCorp here in AZ. No mention of appointment but things may have changed in the last couple of weeks.

Its just hit and miss what I get in pick up. On the other hand there is like no wait for pick up so I could get one every few days if i want. Last week... no broccoli.. (I order 2 kinds hoping to get one) Today both broccoli ... no zucchini... (again ordered 2 kinds)
But I went to the farmer's market yesterday because it opened outside. It was very, very crowded. But I was able to keep distance. I was NOT going in the building, but then most of the veggie and fruit are outside anyway. I picked up a few things quick, mainly looking to see supply... and got zucchini so... all good. They are thinking of opening Wednesdays and Saturdays for the duration. I think more local farmers are thinking to sell closer to home? I don't know.
I can't wait for my own stuff to grow.

I use Imperfect Foods. I can sort of shop the selection and it'd delivered to my door. So far, so good.

I went to order a sandwich online from the place down the street and they removed all the roast beef sandwiches. So apparently, roast beef is MIA in their supply chain.

I just scored 4! 5-lb. bags of King Arthur all-purpose flour. Made my week. But, they were out of sliced roast beef for sandwiches, which is distinctly odd.

I made DH put back the 6 pack of paper towels at the grocery today. Because we had the convertible and didn't think it was all going to fit in the trunk.

Many non chain restaurants around here are selling yeast. I've seen it available from several places.

Kids craft paint has been sold out just about everywhere. I can find adult sets and paint for Gwen (just not in every color she wants) but finding something for Abby has been hard. I finally found something on Target that I am all right with her using.

Gardening and backyard stuff is sold out in many places. Can't find window boxes or Hibachis. The staff told me that since there's nothing else to do but hang out in your yard, stuff is selling out as soon as it comes in.
