DD and I went to get a mani/pedi. They have spit shields up, everyone wears a mask, and you wash your hands when you get there.
They were working with 1/4 to 1/2 of the normal staff. They were using a bubble wrap like bag in the pedicure bowls.
I wouldn’t say it was perfectly sanitized, but l enough for me. I can be paranoid, but not so paranoid I can’t go forward with my life.
Most working were related to the salon owner. I don’t know if some refused to come back, or if she is waiting to see how much traffic she has.

There is a difference between small businesses coming back and this particular small business coming back. If we get healthy and vaccinated a year from now and the economy recovers, restaurants will be open. It might not be the same restaurant, or the same owner, but there will be restaurants.
I wish our bigger businesses and monopolies could be allowed to fail. Someone will step up and offer the services needed, and employ people, etc. Maybe 3 companies will fill the gap and treat their employees better.

My gym is trying to re-open after Memorial Day. We got an email over the weekend outlining some of the guidelines. Basically, it's going to be appointment only and under 10 people, counting the staff; and sanitizing guidelines/expectations for us and by the staff. The owners were both still working full time but the staff was a mixed range of part time and full time staff. They were going to keep on paying them but I don't know if they did. They're going to keep the online content/classes. I expect we'll book time once they reopen. They are also planning on their summer 'camps' for kids but we need more data before I will commit to that. But DH and the kids miss going there a lot.

I saw in the paper that the mall by me reopened today. I had to laugh because before CV19 2 large anchors were gone, many of the store fronts empty, and the food court decimated. They had built all these restaurant/entertainment venues around it, but they can't reopen.
My friend opened her crossfit gym today. I'm not sure what restrictions she is using, and likely won't find out cuz NO WAY is my fat ass going to a gym!

Yeah, I think about that every time I go into Walmart. It was one of the few places that was open, because it sells food, well plenty of small businesses that sell some of the same products were forced to shut down.

Went to my dentist today. Stimulated the economy to the tune of $300 plus. You’re welcome.

Pier 1 is apparently closing all stores and websites. Pier 1 was still open? I'm not entirely sure how that store ever survived. It was empty every time I went in there. I thought they shut down 5 years ago.

Pier 1 is apparently closing all stores and websites. The pandemic is going to "kill" a whole bunch of big retailers that have been on their death beds for the last few years (or longer) Pier One has been struggling for years. I think they went thru some of "reorganization" or "bankruptcy" 5 or 6 years ago. Nieman Marcus and JCrew will probably also be finished - both are still struggling even after reoganization and debt restructing/bankruptcy in the past. JCPenney may not survive this...
