Are they serious? I caught the tell end of it on the news when I got home.
Financially : is that feasible for some? If you are a restaurant: is that the death of your business? Other small business?
I have been out for 8 weeks and I know due to high contact and high risk people in my family my side gig/side business is done for the rest of the year and part of next year; and that was an extra ~3k/month I got used to (it was nice).
But I still have my main job and so does my wife. How does the state plan on assisting?

They're opening LA County beaches today for recreational activities while leaving parking lots, piers and boardwalks closed which seems to be the case for most beaches in coastal counties that are open. They'll also be opening trails, parks and golf courses this weekend. The thing with LA County is that their COVID-19 numbers are the worst out of any of the surrounding counties and if they keep beaches, parks, trails and so on closed people are eventually going to Ventura, Riverside, San Bernardino and Orange Counties.

Since it's still impossible to even apply for, let alone get, UI in CA, I can't see that happening. At all.

The biggest issue was gig workers and they all had that figured out by now, DC creating a separate web site etc.

Finally denied last week because I worked in CA in 2018 so they told me to apply there or call them. No way to call and ever talk to anyone. I can't even file an application on the CA site without it timing out and when you call their phone number it tells you their system is overloaded, tells you to apply online and wait, and then hangs up on you. I gave up because I don't need the cash. It's 100% not worth the hassle. I know 6 people in CA who applied for UI and 8 in OR and only one person in OR got UI and they haven't gotten the CARE $600 add-on payment. Both CA and OR have already talked about running out of UI funds.

For me most government is ineffective and I’d rather rely on myself as much as possible Remember government caused all the businesses to close. Was there another way?

Oregon is a special case in that apparently many years ago they were given millions of dollars to upgrade their UI computer systems and banked the money without doing the job. I haven't lived here long enough to complain, but they didn't do their citizens a solid on that deal at all. California sucks for most things. I don't argue with that. Democrat or republican that's an insane place to accomplish anything. Getting UI in normal times is an exercise in frustration. BTDT. The inefficiencies and shortages of resources in state UI systems was a known thing. When the Feds added SE/1099 to the UI system they knew it wasn't able to handle those workers but didn't seem to care. That's the problem. I'm fine with zero government, but you can't have it both ways. You want no government intervention but support corporate welfare? How is that people/corporations supporting themselves?

I don’t support corporate welfare but these companies were forced to close by government. Companies closing employees out of work. Does helping only the employees help them get back to work? The PPP loan requires business to pay 75% on employees so do you consider this corporate welfare? Airlines losing 90 to 95% income so all those employees would be out of work. Give only to employees there’s no company left to hire them The situation this country caused is having terrible consequences and don’t know if it’s really only way to protect vulnerable people Causing lots of damage to younger people most of whom wouldn’t be severely sickened by virus.

How is that people/corporations supporting themselves? So I totally agree with this sentiment...but in cases where the corporate welfare is a direct result of the government intervention...I don't think that's "having it both ways". You can say "I don't want intervention or corporate welfare"...but once there IS government intervention...I think it's reasonable to say "ok well now we need corporate welfare". They go together. It's like how I want to be able to be "off tether" at work for reasonable hours, and in exchange I won't do personal business while at work. But the second my company wants to have me working insane hours...they can't then come back and say "you said you wouldn't do personal business while at work". No, I said I want these 2 things in combination...once you've taken away half the statement my stance on the 2nd half is reasonable to change.
