I got a chromebook when this started. Our laptop is ancient. Gwen came home with one but Abby did not so I decided to upgrade so she could also do school work. Then the school got a grant so now every kid has a computer. Now I'm keeping track of three separate chromebooks. DH was provided with a desk top. It wasn't a lot of money but now I feel silly. I use it the most for checking out ebooks from the library. We had 3 laptops at home before this, my ancient one, a cheaper Chromebook type one I bought because #1 is ancient, and my DH's recent purchase for a real replacement for #1. Wfh, my employer didn't want me using my own laptop, so I had to bring home my work laptop. My DH's wfh is more cumbersome using his own, so he also has one from work. Then, the 2 kids' school had to figure out how to remote teach the kids--home came their 2 school Chromebooks! I wouldn't worry I buying yourself one to use. We now have freakin' 7! (Plus I have 2 dead ones, and did I mention the tablets the kids have?)

I signed up Carrot for a KiwiCo subscription that I wouldn't have done without the lockdown. They send him age appropriate science and engineering projects to build every month. I'm also buying him a lot more books since the library is closed. I'd prefer getting him the Kindle versions for the whole clutter factor, but he likes having the physical book and I'm not going to argue if he wants to read.
Other than that, nothing really.

A propane fire table. Our area has a fire ban because of Covid, don't ask me what the connection is. But we can have propane fires. With that I got another propane tank. And face masks for the whole family. How do you like it? I Bought a fire pit 2 years ago but I don’t love The timbers that fly all over i don't have it up yet. I will report back.

We bought a wireless mouse and keyboard, and a docking station, for DH’s WFH setup.
More art supplies than normal for the kids.
More groceries because we’re not eating out as often (and no free work lunches that usually happened 1-3x/week for both DH and me).
Electric pencil sharpener - the cheapo manual one isn’t cutting it and I’m tired of DS trying to pin not doing a journal entry or school work on having no sharpened pencils.
Books for DS - we have tons of picture books, but less of the early chapter books and comics he likes, and we can’t do our usual weekly library run.
A few new puzzles and games.
Masks.
Hand sanitizer and Clorox wipes.
Plants for my flower beds.

Purchased my friends new book on-line with delivery instead of picking it up at her in store reading. Not sure the in store reading will take place. She did a virtual reading/discussion of her book. Supported the semi local independent bookstore.

An office chair. I was perfectly fine without one until I had to sit on a DR chair for9+ hours per day and face masks. The big one though, even though there was not that much money involved, is that I broke a promise I made years ago that I would not buy my grand babies random gifts. I have scoured the German division of Amazon and send fun stuff for them. DDIL knows that I am totally fine with it if she holds things back until she needs something to get over a tough spot.
Germany has started to relax some of the SIP rules though so I better dial that back

I sent son Boom Chick popcorn just because. We ended up getting a landline in. I have to fax stuff to medicaid and Indiana's medcaid is hard to deal with. The library and everyplace is closed And sometimes I have a lot, last time was $34.
More books and just most everything online.
Think I'm going to hit the sack I'm beat.

MIL does these with the peanut. They have some pretty fun things. She's made a robot, a paint spinner, and the thing that projects constellations...and something else. Anyway, doing a kit with grandma is a pretty good bargaining chip for getting her work done

I bought: 1.) hand made masks 2.) Easter gifts from a favorite small business for grand nephew/neices. 3.) Online access to additional 'books' for a game I play. 4.) Ground coffee from a small business 5.) speakers for my laptop so I don't have to wear headphones when on a zoom/hangout call. 6.) more bakery than I ever thought possible from a local bakery (houska, hot dogs in a bun, kolachy, bread) 7.) more chocolate and sweets and fatten food than I thought possible.

I've purchased masks. That's about all I wouldn't have purchased any way.
We will be making some large purchases over the next few weeks, but those are budgeted for and planned.

Not too much:
- masks for all of us (handmade by a friend) - more groceries than usual - more books than usual (both real and Kindle) - paying version of a Coursera course (want the certificate) - subscription to Headspace (finally pulled the trigger)
ETA: - garden table for DS3 and his housemates (best $50 purchase EVER!!!)

We used to go out to fast food for lunch on Saturdays and to Denny's for breakfast on Sundays. I started buying hot dogs to replace the fast food and bacon/eggs to replace the breakfast on Sundays.
I also bought some Tylenol and NyQuil back in February when this all started. Usually I wait until someone is sick to go out and buy medicine, but I figured if we got the coronavirus I shouldn't be out shopping, so I bought the medicine in advance.

A new computer system so I can work from home. I needed a new laptop but got a desktop, 2 TVs to use for monitors and a speaker system to drown out DH when he's yelling at the tv. Currently I only use one tv was a monitor because I forgot to buy the correct cable and been too lazy to get it. Also, they are both on the same remote frequency and it's a pain in the ass to change anything on them. So I now have a new tv for the playroom upstairs.

Lots of dig kits and Legos, a ton of groceries. And way too much on instacart orders that wind up with a bunch of unnoted substitutions. I think more than 3 errors is going to be my threshold for complaining and requesting a refund...Buying Dad groceries and ordering dinner delivery for him too, in hopes of reducing his exposure.
For those looking to spend extra moneykeep their kids occupied, we dug out a Thames and Kosmos build your own remote controlled tractor kit that I ordered on sale a year or so ago. DS doesn‘t quite have the patience for it yet, but I could see TK kits being rewarding for slighter older or more mature kids.

What purchases have you made, that you normally wouldn't, because of COVID19 and the stay at home orders? (Not counting stocking up on your usual things.) I've bought: A jump rope, because the gym is closed Blue tooth headphones, because of all the walks I'm taking Tylenol, not the usual pain killer I use A CBS all access subscription, to watch Star Trek Discovery and Picard and increased my Netflix to 4 users, because everyone seemed to use it at the same time
DH signed up for the free month of CBS all access, to watch Picard, and then we watched Star Trek Discovery, too. He also bought seeds to try and resurrect our neglected garden experiment, in case a second wave creates more food supply issues. Other than those, we are probably buying much less than usual, because we aren't buying for outside events - no treats for DH's "kids" (students), no stuff at sports events for DS5, no library events. I've got a lifetime's worth of TBR kindle books and physical books from past book sales. The internet has unlimited youtube videos for DS5 to watch and he has on line games to play (and lessons to do, an instrument to practice, if truth be told). The weather is nominally spring (although it snowed the last few days), so DH can get out to run without the Y (still donating the monthly fee). The chickens are again getting out of the coop, and giving us a few eggs daily. And I have time again to bake.

What I can remember purchasing: *Two pairs of leggings so I'm not wearing the same ones all the damn time *An office chair because my dining room chairs don't cut it for a work day *A small desk because I've been wanting to create a proper work from home area for a few years (I wfh twice a week in normal times) - my exercise room/ office is now complete! *A memory seat cushion because I was trying to make the dining room chair work. *A mouse pad so I'm not dragging my mouse on my dining room table *A new area rug for the dining room because the one I originally bought didn't go with the chairs we ended up buying *Annual shipping for wine dot com. All because I wanted to send my sister wine for her birthday and shipping was going to be $12, or I could pay for a whole because why not. I will get my money's worth on my next order, lol. *Swedish dishcloths - been wanting to get them for a while to cut down on paper towel use, so might as well order them during a pandemic *Sheet masks - I still have to pamper my skin regardless of the state of the world!

I love reading about all of you buying leggings and sweat pants because they are more comfortable when working at home. People are always telling me I should get "dressed for work" when sitting here writing. Not having to do so is a huge benefit in and of itself for WAH. Especially for those of us with ample boobage and shoulder joint problems.

Otherwise, the rest of my pants are khakis or jeans that I wear out. Today is the first day in nearly 2 months I have put on something other than my yoga pants or pj bottoms - and I have a pair of athletic shorts on.

Oops forgot something else ... a 6pp garden table for DS3 who is in a shared rental house in the UK. They're 6 students, all friends. I figured if they could be outside in the garden in good weather they'd be much more likely to respect the quarantine/stay in place order. When the table arrived 5 weeks ago, I felt like it was the best $50 I'd EVER spent! The chairs were out of stock but it's much easier to carry chairs into the garden than a huge wooden DR table. Plus some of them own folding/camping chairs.

I keep shopping for the house. I have bought valances, comforter set, pillows, etc. for the guest bedroom. But I have yet to go out and buy a mattress. I am not certain I want to buy that online. More food, etc. since I am a closet hoarder. Seriously, there is extra beer, dog treats, and toilet paper in the closet. I am ashamed. How can I blame this on Abby? Oh, I have a beer-guzzling, toilet paper-shredding treat hog. Two of those things are true, and one is not. More paint for all the projects that I want to do. Except I really don't like painting. Still, the paint itself provides an awesome finish on furniture. Their shipping is so slow, though, which is why I went ahead and ordered. I bought an adult coloring book because my daughter gave me beautiful markers for Mother's Day. And a few extra books. But I had tons already. That's pretty much it.

A non-contact infrared thermometer (the one you point at a forehead). Our old fashioned thermometer is iffy at best and this baby is made by the same company as my beloved instant read meat thermometer. Apparently our "normal" temps are 97 or so.

I've bought more rice and beans, especially since I was outsourced before the lockdown happened, and wasn't sure if I was going to get a new job anytime soon. We also have a refrigerator sized freezer in the basement that I filled top to bottom with food that my kids can microwave, so my kids won't starve if DH and I are down sick.
I've also bought a few masks. I also got my doctor to prescribe a 90 day supply of Celebrex, since I have a bone spur in my foot and can't swim for exercise anymore.

Especially for those of us with ample boobage and shoulder joint problems. Back in March when I started WFH - I basically got up, showered and put on a fresh pair of pajamas and sat down to work (there was other chores happening in there). I have a whole wardrobe of winter pajamas. When we got the word we were WFH thru the end of May - I did order a bunch of new spring/summer PJs and night gowns. I'm pretty much ready to switch my Winter WFH "uniform" to my Spring/Summer WFH uniform. (i thought it was funny when I got the Health and Well Being email with tips for first time Work From Home workers -one of which was: keep to a routine and get dressed for the day versus wearing one's PJs - and I was like OK, I do getup, get showered and then dressed every morning -- in a fresh pair of PJs that's got to count as being dressed for the day. ) I guess i need to add 4 pairs of spring/summer PJs to my Covid19 spending. (I would have bought some replacement work tops/pants instead of the PJs if I was going to work - so it's kind of money I would have spent anyway (ok, less money but to achieve the same purpose).

I do have two coworkers who WFH four days a week normally and they do get dressed to work. Whatever works.

There is no way I'm sitting here all day in dress clothes. Not happening. I do change out of my pajamas into sweats/yoga pants. Thankfully no one in my group is into having the cameras on. DH's boss wants to see their smiling, happy faces during their staff meetings.
