I would just like to add that, bring an engineer who drinks hard alcohol, I did build a still. It works fantastic and that stuff is smooth. I'm in not long after college, some friends and I toured a small local brewery and started hatching a plan. sadly, it never came to fruition. what a great reunion story it would have been, though! we were a pair of marketing majors and a handful of engineers of various disciplines. 2 mechanical engineers - design and build the skids (with my contacts at bio fabrication companies) 1 electrical engineer - wire the skids 1 mech - home brews. he creates the recipes 2 chemical engineers - one to QC test, the other (me) to automate the process 2 marketing ladies - duh.

You're guaranteed to have a good time and since I'm not as young as I used to be, there's no more brawls. I can't wait to find my way over to KC. you and Sam and I have a bar crawl date.

Mother's day experiment of Espresso Martini turned out pretty good. Left over strong coffee, Kahlua, Stoli vanilla and half and half.

Ooh, I didn't realize there's a boozing thread! I've been good about limiting myself mostly to drinking Thursday-Saturday, though I did have a beermosa yesterday morning because I am out of prosecco and we only had a little bit of OJ left. I made mine with Sloop Juice Bomb IPA. I've been sticking with mostly red wine lately so we can better conserve our liquor, but I'll enjoy a proper cocktail night here or there. I enjoy making daiquiris, Hemingway daiquiris, caipirinhas, aviations, manhattans, old fashioned, and (good backup to conserve the bourbon and rye) Applejack old fashioneds. Oh, Trader Joe's jalapeno limeade is awesome with tequila!

I just poured some Pink Whitney vodka into a can of raspberry lemonade seltzer.
had to call my lawyer to find out why I still haven't seen either of the checks for the proceeds of the sale of my home. even if they didn't go out the day of closing, it's been ELEVEN DAYS. what the hell? checks will be re-cut and overnighted via UPS. what a PITA.

I WANT A DRINK! Damn you! Caramel drizzle coffee really ain't cutting it. That actually sounds really good. Maybe I'll get some coffee when I go to the store next and some fancy creamer. I'll have to dust off the old coffee maker since I never use it.

I just finished a phone interview, so I can have some wine, correct?
The WiFi on my regular laptop stopped working yesterday afternoon. WTF?? I tried to trouble shoot it last night and this morning. I can connect via an ethernet cable, but the WiFi just went poof.

The Espresso Martini worked so well that I think I'll start saving the last bit of my morning coffee every day . However, I think it's time to open the can of pineapple juice and do Mai Tai for a few days. Although, I'm a bit concerned about my supply of dark rum.

Why is it that when I see the title of this thread I see "Day drinking ahead" instead of "Day drinking thread"?
Y'all probably won't believe me, but I really am considering taking up drinking again. I gave up my amateur status years and years ago when the choice was not at all or become a professional.

So I have this group of friends I call the "grumpy old men". There were 4 of them ranging in age from 70-85. Kind of like dads to me. I would stop by and join them for happy hour when I could. One passed a year ago of a stroke. His wife spoke about us during his service.
The grumpiest turned 85 last fall and I went to his surprise party (I've known his wife and daughters for years). He would yell at me all the time for being on my cell phone. He has one but it's never turned on. He found out in Jan that he has a brain tumor. He's feeling fine, but can't drive. Then this shit hit the fan. Now he calls me or I call him once a week. I called him Sat to check in, and then he called me yesterday to wish me a Happy Mother's day. I miss sitting at the bar with those crabby asses! So I made my "bar" drink- vodka and diet Sierra Mist to toast them.

Doesn't everyone drink during the day during the summer? I mean, it is light until 8 or so here.
I go to bed usually at 9 so if I don't drink during daylight hours, I don't drink. Abby has me on a strict bedtime schedule although she sleeps 22/24 anyway.

Settling for a whiskey sour. I guess we will wait to open the pineapple juice. I had to open a new fifth of whiskey. Thankfully there are 2 more in the cupboard. (And that's not counting the expensive bottle of Rye).
