Yeah. There have been times when the situation was reversed and Democrats did not go around law and tradition to steal a seat... so. They now use Harry Reid's process to get these seats, as happened in the Obama years. You might want to back read on this.

So you are ok with his hypocrisy to get what you want? Do you seriously believe the dems wouldn’t have done the same thing? That’s the world of politics. Of course I’m glad they did it because I do not believe the liberal vision for my country is the right one. I also acknowledge the hypocrisy because I would not be happy if the liberals did it. I can at least acknowledge my hypocrisy. "For what am I willing to sell my soul?" is a question we all are forced to answer.

I can at least acknowledge my hypocrisy. There is no evidence that Democrats would refuse to confirm hundreds of open positions for judges at every level. I also am not sure they would have left a SCOTUS for 10 months.

It had never been done before so I do not believe they would have. Going forward, now that the precedent has been set, who knows. But this is the problem with upsetting precedent. They should have given him a hearing and voted against him. Why didn’t they? Were they afraid he would have been too reasonable. They were the majority and could have easily been done. Would at least have respected it, even if I didn’t agree

Stop softening what Sleazy Mitch did by saying the Dems would have done it too. Isolate it all and leave the Dems out of it. Then examine it for what it really was and then frost it with Southern Senator vs. Black POTUS he vowed to make a one termer. Total obstruction at a time we needed more bi-partisanship coming out of the BushCo. Crash.

I don't paint all Republicans, or even all Republican Senators with the same brush. I believe Mitch is particularly unAmerican and is uniquely disrespectful to the constitution. His damage will last forever. I believe the "ends justify the means" people will see a day that regret the new precedents Mitch set.
