We are good with income, housing and food. My house is empty and I am staying at his house. We both get SS and he has pensions, I have investments, down but coming up. Dividends will be cut but fine without them. He finished radiation and started chemo this week so only worried about death from cancer for him or virus for either of us. He is breathing easier so the lung cancer is responding to treatment.

Even as a widow i"m comfortable. Food is OK, as there is only 1 person. No car payment, no house payment. All the insurance is paid in full every April, and due to the VA, I pay no real estate taxes or personal property taxes. I have plenty of ready cash, so I don't have to worry.
My FA has a saying, and he only has to remind me a couple times a year: We have a plan, we're working the plan, is this idea a part of the plan? I grumble and say OK, you're right.

Still not to secure but ok. My unemployment is held up again, DS2 should be getting it but his hasn't gone through at all. Cobra is hung up somewhere. So we're living off one income that is 1/3 of what my income was and savings. And I'm trying hard to not touch the savings. With double our household size since this started. We can hang on for a few more months this way. Then it's going to get rough. And both the fridge and the washer are making really ugly noises. I'm ignoring them.

Got my letter about cobra. I found coverage on the marketplace for mid 300s a month. Cobra is 630. I'm covered until May 31st so I think I'll wait until the end of the 60 days to get coverage on the marketplace and do that. I'm hoping I get another job by then, but I haven't used anything towards my deductibles or out of pocket max this year so no reason to pay more for cobra.
My house refinance got messed up with my job loss. I've asked them if I can still refi if I pay down enough to not need PMI. If they won't let me I may call my current mortgage servicer about deferring payments. I heard from Clark Howard that they are updating the forbearance so that you don't owe the entire amount at the end. I can afford my mortgage payment without digging into savings as long as I get the extra 600 week from feds for unemployment, but if that ends in July and I'm still unemployed I will need help.
I've paused some of my savings goals to hoard extra cash. If I find a job soon then I'll save or invest as planned, but if I don't it will be easily accessible in my checking account.
I'm pretty set for food and other household supplies. I buy in bulk and always replenish before I run out. But I could stand to cut my food budget down quite a bit.

I know you can get Cobra retroactively but have you also checked whether you can get new insurance if you are without coverage for a couple of months? I have told people IRL about the Cobra rules but they had a new job in hand and were just waiting for their background check to be complted before they were onboarded. Not much risk there. This situation is somewhat different though so make sure you check all angles.

I think we had 30 days to move to health coverage in a different state post-move. The marketplace may have a similar rule before it makes you wait for open enrollment.

My job is somewhat secure as long as I keep my head down and keep doing my job which I have been doing lately, not making any waves. DW is really unhappy at her job also and have been job hunting.
As long as 1 of us is employed we are good, not great but good... we will manage.
Only problem is since this thing started my biological father has not been working and we have been helping him out. So if either one of us lose our jobs: that would have to go with other excess fat in our budget; and I made that clear to him.
For now it just hinders how fast I pay down debt but I can leave with it for another month or two (Haiti was put on lockdown for 2 months due to increase cases).

We are fine, retired, income sufficient.
If not for helping a renter we would likely be saving, but groceries for them. They were able to buy some this month as grandparents sent them a check. I ordered groceries and they were out a lot of stuff, going to try again.
The young man finished out Mays rent by working, the gal asked for a receipt! Guess she isn't very trusting, LOL! He has 4 hours toward June so far on rent. He has to be ready for work each day if they call him, so far just 1 day. The one fellow only had a problem paying 1 month, since he is paying.
Hubs does stuff like loan them tools, an engine lift the other day. The guys have old trucks but they both know how to work on them so do.
So right now all our renters are paying. We plan to have the other house ready for August, but I said September is ok. I'm nervous whomever we get will be out of a job and not be able to pay in short order. We are also toying with the idea of selling the house, we haven't decided. I am paying the second installment of taxes on each house monthly. Last month 1 paid in full, this month another. I paid ours off last month for the year.
Never anticipated this continuing this long, now I worry others will lose their jobs, hope not.

I hate renting from big corporations, who have a property management company handle their properties. Neither of them seem to really care about the people part of renting. I don't even need help. I just hate having to do everything online, or by automation.

I've been impressed, too, with the amount of work countrygirl and her husband do to help their tenants and improve their properties. I'm sure they have very loyal tenants. My next-door neighbor also owns rentals. I haven't heard about it from him but the lady across the street had to get rid of a ton of furniture from her late stepfather's estate and the bookwork to record sales wasn't worth it. She gave a lot of the pieces to him for his tenants. I bet he has loyal tenants as well.

We have decided to put the latest rental up for sale if the price is right. After about 3 months if it doesn't sell we will rent it.Our concern is the lady next door. On one side is storage units, someone bought them and renovated them, so its really nice. The lady on the other side is elderly and her son is not the brightest bulb. He bought the house on the other side of her for taxes and has done nothing. Hers needs a roof sooo badly, I'm surprised if its not leaking. He mows some, we are afraid in the shape its in when she passes on he will rent it to riffraff. The street is improving, several houses have but he has 2 together in really bad shape, so I told hubs if the price is right lets try. Hubs is getting the garage in good shape, rewired, he is going to try and scrape off the yellow paint in the garage and spray paint it. Putting aluminum siding on the ends and one side, then paint the rest, its at least 1200 sq ft. It's a block garage, new door, and new roof now. A tiny yard, but that's ok. He needs to redo one section of fence. Today, he pulled all the old basement windows out, is going to scrape put rust inhibitor on and paint. We are going to have the tenant power wash the basement and put a sealant on it. In the house we need to sand and stain floors, put up ceiling fans. I need to do some work on the woodwork and stain, and clean, clean, clean, we are getting there. Oh, he is also widening the driveway. The aluminum siding is chalking, he is going to clean with TSP, power wash, and we found a sealant for chalking, then acrylic paint. It's going to be a little doll house.

I went to rehab today. Of course my feet are an issue, but he said my problem is the muscles in my hips have gotten weak. I felt bad and sat to much this winter. He gave me exercises to start, ones I used to do all the time and quit. Then for 6 weeks work with him, he said they also have exercises to help with dizziness. Tomorrow I followup with my doc. He also suggested CQ10, that's 2 people, so I started it today.
He also told me just because they check for muscle wasting from statins doesn't mean it hasn't effected you. He said statins remove an enzyme which helps repair muscles. And said it has to register a very very high level before it indicates on the wasting scale. He said CQ10 did miracles for his grandmother, but some people take it for 30 days and nothing. But I'm going to try. I worried about a new anything but took one pill so far and nothing, whew, I am scared to try anything new anymore.

I wish I could walk miles daily, my feet are extremely flat and have been all my life, they are terribly broken down. Has caused osteoarthritis in my back and degenerative disk disease, so I just can't walk like that. Also have a 50% block in an artery in my heart and have had a minor heart attack, also some COPD in the bottom of a lung. So add this stuff and more items, like hypoglycemia to age and it all mounts up.

Here's some fun for you:
* I started getting unemployment checks finally. Then the investigation into unemployment fraud started and I haven't had a check in the past 2 weeks. But nothing on my account is showing an issue and the site claims that deposits are only delayed 2 days.
* Using the unemployment I finally got, I brought my Cobra current (still in the grace period) a few weeks ago. But no medical place can get my card to work and the medical company says my card is fine.
I'm really over all this. I have cancer and lupus, so a lot of medical bills, and 6 people to feed. And if one more person blathers on about sucking off the government, I'll lose what little cool I have left. Just.....color me done....I'm not feeling secure at all.

Our tenant has been out of work since March 1, he just got 1 $600 check this week. He worked 4 hours last week or 8 not sure which. the HR or payroll screwed up and paid him for 2 weeks and took 2 weeks out of the check for child support. UE is taking money out for child support each week but just half. I told them not to touch the paycheck money. They will have to take that all back. Oh they also took out a 401k payment on a loan they got from it and it was supposed to be on hold till December. He said I will never get this mess fixed. They use ADP, the local HR does nothing, said it has to be done online and it drops half the time. And now his UE will be screwed up too. He is at wits end.
They are paying us $300 on the rent, he has worked out $110 of it so they only owe us $40 for June and he will work that off too. Still without grandparents helping them, us and what they were getting from UE they are not keeping up. She said so far they are keeping up with their utilities.
I assume a lot of their staff is off or trying to work from home. I imagine they are all overwhelmed. Probably going on everywhere, what a mess.
Oh and they never did get the $1200.

Just does not make sense. MIL got her $1200, I was able to get info in using the zipcode update and a week before it was to late and I got our info in, so hubs and I got the $2400. I should not have had to do anything, I just entered the 2018 tax dollars in it.0
Last week I filed a 0 tax return through the irs.gov site for DD and today she got her $1200. Yet my poor tenants can't get anything. And I know many other people can't. This is just beyond sad. We did nothing to get MIL's and was hoping she did not as she does not need it and we have to find something to spend it on.
DD's we can use for her, ours will likely go for estimated tax payments, but that's ok. It's just not fair that those that need it for food and housing can't get it.

I just got my stimulus yesterday, and it came in the form of a debit card. It looked like junk mail and I would have thrown it out without opening it except I had read some news articles over the weekend about people who had thrown out their stimulus payment. It was from Money Network Cardholder Services, which I had never heard of but sounded suspiciously similar to the people that keep calling me with good news about lowering my credit card rates. You may want to give your tenants a heads up to open all their junk mail. abc7.com/stimulus-prepaid-debit-cards-uia-card-checks-second/6213446/

Yes, they do. They changed bank accounts and they got a letter saying it went to their old account. They had and have tried and tried to update the bank account info on the net. I had tried to put ours in also for several weeks. Finally I found a little article it had to be exactly like the zipcode lookup address. I told them that, they tried it, nothing, they tried their previous address nothing. I know I had a terrible time.
It's like DD's because she is a SS recipient she should not have had to do anything but it never happened so I filed a 0 return for her. I had to do the same for us, enter our 2018 tax info, and should never have had to do so. And we changed nothing.

There are lots of tax evaders (or just forgetful people)who are in a pickle right now. They are having to determine if the stimulus is worth more than the tax and penalty they might owe.

The only reason I didn't was I hadn't applied for CA UI and was curious why they sent it to me. I still have yet to receive any documentation at all. They paid me 16.5 weeks of the $600 per week CARES Act all at once, at least that's how I think they calculated it. I haven't found anything reported online that they auto-issued these payments to anyone else, but mine apparently was. Weird. Not complaining.

I'm feeling pretty secure since I took a 401k withdrawal and paid down debt. My job is stable. I have enough cash to cover 2 mos expenses and I'm working on saving more after I pay off the last bit of low interest debt. I'm living within my means and saving money not having to drive to work or eat out. Freezer and pantry have enough food for probably a couple of months if needed. House payment is lower than rent on a decent apartment around here. Feeling safe and blessed at the moment fingers crossed.

Here's some fun for you: * I started getting unemployment checks finally. {{hugs}} sorry things are so difficult right now. hang in there....

My employer is usually just manic through June, then we hit the summer doldrums where we all take turns getting some time off, then the college kids leave to go back to school just as our less-manic Fall season hits.
Because business has been on steroids this year, we are already at July inventory levels and sales are ramping down rapidly. I fear layoffs are coming in the near future. My employer might keep most of us on through July to meet the Coronavirus loan rules, but after that...? Since I am largely working g remotely from home I might either be “out of sight, out of mind” or glaringly dispensable. I make an effort to keep Senior management apprised of what I am doing, issues I see/foresee, tasks I’ve completed, etc. but I would be lying if I didn’t say I am worried. I just hope my work ethic, can-do attitude, and wide array of product and operational knowledge will make me valuable enough to hang on to.
In the meantime, I did look at some job listings last night...

I am out on UI . My employer opened back up for curbside pick up and I chose not to return because I’m considered high risk for covid 19 . Just got text thIs morning from manager telling me (and others) that since we are now reopened completely for customers , I need to either come back or quit . If I don’t decide by Sunday , the new manager that is taking over then will decide .
