......except if you're a blue state. Then you can go to hell. Trump asks why taxpayers should help bail out blue states President Trump on Monday questioned why the federal government should provide financial relief to states facing budgetary strains due to the coronavirus pandemic, portraying it as a partisan issue in states and cities with Democratic leaders. Trump tweeted last week that he hoped future coronavirus legislation would include "fiscal relief to State/Local governments for lost revenues from COVID 19." But after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell floated the idea of allowing states to go bankrupt rather than sending federal money to them, Trump said his administration was looking into the idea. thehill.com/homenews/administration/494807-trump-asks-why-taxpayers-should-help-bail-out-democrat-run-statesWow! Thus the blue states should stop subsidizing the red states and allow the red state’s to go banco. Trump can show them how with his six (6) banco experience. As usual the Repo-Cons have it backwards.
In the meantime to actually say such a thing shows how fucked up those 2 jowly mofos really are.

Pretty "ballsy" to think they get no help from Blue States. Wasn't Pence just up in Minnesota, at the Mayo Clinic? Hey, that's the home state of Mayo. If they don't want anything to do with Blue States, they'd better not be asking them for medical help, either.

Trump and Co are going to say anything they can to divide the country, like they have no clue states can't file BK....I laughed my ass off when Cuomo called ole Mitch's bluff and told him to pass legislation on that! It wasn't always that way. Trump has destroyed America. He didn't do it alone. This presidency and this pandemic has revealed a lot of things that have been true for a while. I listened to the two episodes of Rabbit Hole on the New York Times Daily podcast. There are many forces at work, and I wonder if it will break our country.

Well, you had the governor of New York demanding that Trump hand over every ventilator the feds had so they could sit in warehouses and leave nothing for anybody else and then the stimulus got held up so they could add some pork for the Kennedy center. All the states are going to face budgetary constraints due to COVD, but some states are a little more reasonable in their requests.

Again, are any of the red states give back the subsidies they get from the blue states. I'm sure NY would due just fine with paying in just what they get back. Good luck getting them to vote on disaster packages if they ar etold to go bankrupt. All the "well run" should just give back the excess that the Federal government sends them.

And then there is the Texas lieutenant governor who said the economy was more important than saving people's lives. How pro-life of the Republican party. Texas Lt. Gov Dan Patrick: ‘There are more important things than living’ during pandemic

It also employs people. We have to bail out companies that have made a ton of profit since the last time we bailed them out. We have to loan money to the Lakers, because sports is so fucking important that one guy kneeling before a game could crumble all of the USA. We have to bail out Shake Shack because there is nobody else that can make a shitty burger once this is over. We have to structure programs so companies like Amazon and Walmart, who are doing great right now, can still benefit. But heaven forbid we help to keep someone from the arts employed.

I know it is an opinion piece, but is definitely the way I see it: So let's add all this up. In the meatpacking industry, President Trump is ordering Americans back to dangerous work sites, with no evidence they'll be given adequate protection. Meanwhile, Republicans and their big-business constituents want to reopen the economy, and use the threat of financial destitution to coerce people into returning to work, whether they think it's safe or not. Lastly, not only is the GOP uninterested in using the government's power to force employers to take proper precautions, they want to stop the courts from forcing employers to do so as well. "Work under the shadow of coronavirus, or starve" seems to be the order the Republican Party wants to give the country, with no guarantee of safety other than the cost-benefit analysis of employers' consciences. www.msn.com/en-us/news/opinion/republicans-literally-want-to-work-americans-to-death/ar-BB13sUXx?ocid=spartandhp

From the article in the OP: Meanwhile, the executive agency tasked with overseeing workers' well-being, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), has effectively checked out during the coronavirus pandemic. The agency has received thousands of complaints from Americans about dangerous conditions at their places of work. But thus far OSHA hasn't bothered giving employers hard rules for coronavirus safety — instead releasing purely voluntary guidelines, while leaving enforcement with teeth to under-resourced state governments.
