It really is a cult. They forgo their medical expertise if Dear Leader says otherwise. I never thought that up to 40% or our country was so cult-susceptible. What does that say about us going forward? Really? WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Forty percent of U.S. adults ascribe to a strictly creationist view of human origins, believing that God created them in their present form within roughly the past 10,000 years. news.gallup.com/poll/261680/americans-believe-creationism.aspxI think my sister may be one of them. And she is a smart, educated gal from a good family. She was an engineer for god's sake.

Here's some more crazy. Two people, identified by the district attorney as Nicole Anderson, 42, and David Nelson, 53, were seen on July 4 painting over the B and L in the word "Black," which had been painted in yellow, with black paint.
In the video, the man identified as Nelson can be heard saying, "There is no racism. It's a leftist lie," and, "No one wants Black Lives Matter here."
When a woman could be heard asking, "What's wrong with you?" the man replied, "We're sick of this narrative, that's what's wrong. The narrative of police brutality, the narrative of oppression, the narrative of racism. It's a lie."
He was wearing Trump 2020 garb and yelled "Make America Great Again."
Anderson was the one seen painting over the letters, while Nelson stood alongside her and at one point fetched another can of paint from a car.
The mural, in downtown Martinez in front of the Wakefield Taylor Courthouse, was approved through a permit on July 1, according to the district attorney's statement issued Tuesday. It was completed on July 4.

I hope they throw the book at them. Doubt that they learned anything though.

No reason to think he is wrong. Look what it took to control the epidemic in NYC. Do you see anyplace going to that extreme. Arizona has a ridiculous number of cases based on their population. Florida, Texas, and California all flirt with 10,000/day, and none of them are going to significant efforts to close down. And school will start in a month according to trump, and colleges and football are all going to start in about 6 weeks. It will be a miracle if we don't approach that number.

The 57K+ was a couple days ago. I don't always look when all the info rolls in before the worldometer GMT slate cleaning.

so terrible. How many families who refused to "give up thanksgiving" will be mourning by christmas? Not understanding these kinds of choices.

We have had about 3k deaths/day. From where I am sitting , the estimates that Tennesseer posted are low. We could hit 500k by the end of February

my worst case scenario estimation was 1M dead by the time this is over. half a million seems quite likely to me at this point. it will likely fall between the two.

Agreed, but it may be closer to the higher number. The pandemic is raging, and Trump and his administration is MIA. They are making no effort yo ameliorate. McConnell continues to block any compromise on relief. He wants his bill or nothing. As a result, even governors who did a good job the first time around will not shut down for fear of blowing a bigger hole in their budget. We continue to have people acting like asses around the issue of masks people are tired, letting their guard down, or just saying Fuck it. The vaccine will not be delivered at the rate in the doses anticipated 2 weeks ago. The whole country may look like NYC did in MArch-April by mid-January, before Biden is even sworn in. Good luck to him, he is going to need it

Good luck to him, he is going to need it in the beginning, it was hitting mostly dense urban areas where most were observing lockdowns and guidelines. Now it is running amok in rural areas where people are gasping their last breaths and saying covid is a hoax. AND NOW - we have a strong and virulent anti covid vaccine foment. we think it's going to be over in 6 months or so, whenever enough vaccine is manufactured and delivered to all distribution sites....but now we have this large segment of the population saying they won't get it.

only if it involves health and human services. military? policing bedrooms? policing bathrooms? decimating human rights in the name of religious freedom? they are all over it....

I'm with the original bolded. Policing sex roles is something both the GOP & Taliban want to do. They don't need to be govt to do so, they are just used to doing so as politicians, but we have learned thanks to Bannon & Trump that their evangelical churches have been doing that for years. The worship of the military & guns is another issue, but apparently somehow connected.

Just skimming the article it became obvious these are people who would rather live with a comfortable lie than a hard truth with some legs. I'm feeling its not ironic at all, many MAGAs are in denial and celebrate those who keep them as People of the Lie. (Apologies to Scott Peck). From the article- Ironically, Good defeated Democrat Cameron Webb, a doctor who treats COVID-19 patients, in the conservative-leaning district this past November.
