He's not been seen recently, including attending the important birthday/anniversary of his grandfather.

If he had complications due to surgery, it could be weeks before he makes an appearance. If he did not survive the surgery, they'll be scrambling/backstabbing to figure out who is going to run the country next.

I wonder if Kim wrote his last love letter to Donald. And will Donald rush to Kim's side to profess his eternal love.

Donald has already expressed his concerns about Kim's health, and has wished him well. Nothing but the best wishes for a blood sucking dictator who is starving his people and robbing his country of all it has.
Keep an eye on this. NK has not denied much of it so far, so the little dictator could be in a bad way. The succession would be a very big question. Inquiring minds def want to know!

Honestly I'm wishing him a speedy recovery. Not because I like him or what he has done to his people, but I understand there is no clear successor at this point and the regional instability it could create if he is incapacitated is a shit show the world doesn't need during a pandemic.

Maybe Donald will move to NK to help stabilize the region and build many greatly golf courses in a really bigly way.

I thought his sister was in line. Or do they have a "No girls allowed" rule?

What irks me most is Trump claiming, for the umpteenth time, that if it wasn’t for him we would be at war with NK. Who doesn’t know that is preposterous bullshite?

I thought his sister was in line. Or do they have a "No girls allowed" rule? He’s killed off all the serious contenders, so I’m guessing they would not allow his sister to take over. Best possible outcome- he dies, the generals and distant family members choose up sides, destroy each other in a giant civil war, and SK steps in afterwards to clean up and liberate the poor peasants. I’m not confident that would happen. One of the rivals may get get his hands on the nukes.

I thought his sister was in line. Or do they have a "No girls allowed" rule? She is next in line- strictly speaking. But it is a patriarchal society, there is another old dude that is a family member and possible contender, they could form some sort of ruling committee (Politburo), or the possibilities become more varied and wild from there. A military coup is certainly possible. Possibilities go from positive to positively frightening. We just don't know yet. Fat little twerp could fully recover too of course.

One article said it would be a real mess, as refugees would stream out of NK, and if there is a worldwide recession, things are going to be tough.

I thought his sister was in line. Or do they have a "No girls allowed" rule? I read an article today saying that female dictators were extremely rare. If his sister were to take over, it would likely result in a military coup.

Women can be VERY cold & ruthless, especially if they want to grab power.

Isn't this were the military powers that "serve" Kim Jong Un declare one of Kim Jong Un's progeny the next "leader" and declare a Regent (maybe Jong Un's Sister?) who will "help" the kid until the kid is old enough to take over? I'm pretty sure Kim Jong Un has some people in the military who are loyal to him (and the dictatorship in general no matter who sits on the throne). I'm pretty sure Kim Jong Un has a leash on... if the people with the power to carry out his commands - say no.... then well, his commands don't get carried out. Heck, it doesn't even need to be Kim Jong Un's actual kid... who's ever in power can write the kid's history and parentage how ever they want.

If it’s true I hope the surgeons who botched this have been able to sneak out of the country. NK is known to execute people with ballistic arms.

The report said the surgeon maybe had "shaky hands". LOL, just what you want, a surgeon with some sort of palsy affecting his hands trying to insert a stent! Maybe he was North Korea's only heart surgeon?
Note: Not putting a lot of faith in that report.

I woke up from surgery to have a stent inserted to learn the surgeon had nicked the artery on the way and had to abort the procedure. Had to hang out in the hospital a couple more days. The next time the original surgeon wasn't available (at least that was the story) so a different surgeon inserted it. What was cool was the new guy had the skill to go through my wrist instead of my groin. I still have the nifty little screw clamp they used to plug the hole until it sealed itself closed. I appreciated not dealing with all the pain I had experienced with the first stent I had put in years before.

I wonder if he really had heart surgery. When I look at his more recent pictures, he appears to have lost a lot of weight. I always felt he may have had stomach reduction/bypass surgery - and the mortality rates for those surgeries is pretty high. Just saying.

Apparently, satellite pictures show luxury yachts at a resort, so they think he's holed up there - but it's not clear what physical state he's in.
I would think if he's in any kind of shape t all they'd trot him out in front of the cameras.

But what difference to whom does it make in a controlled society like North Korea? Why would it matter to the rest of the world?

Is that anything like Trump and Pence refusing to wear masks? They don't want people thinking they're weak and vulnerable?

Is state run television letting his citizens know anything? Might he perceive it as a sign of weakness to have to show the world he is okay? Yes it makes sense he would appear if he could but with the games played by him and that regime it just always makes me question a "makes sense" interpretation of what they are doing.

There was some fake video someone launched in NK showing footage of Kim's dads funeral, and then showing fake photos of Kim in a glass coffin, laying in state. It apparently upset a lot of the NK's (they think Kim is a god on earth). I would think, if the guy was capable of walking up right and smiling, that he'd be out in public somewhere, just to make sure his people know he's still alive. Just to make sure no-one is getting any ideas.
