Just watched him state it.

Blaming the Dems. Then he just asked Sony Perdue, director of agriculture, how long he has been waiting for approval for a key position. 2.5 yrs. Hmmmm, the republicans held the House, Senate and Pres for 2 years until 6 months ago. WTF were they doing

Trump threatens to adjourn both chambers of CongressPresident Trump on Wednesday called on the Senate to either confirm his nominees to vacancies across the administration or formally adjourn, threatening to use executive power to try and force both chambers of Congress to adjourn. The president offered a lengthy diatribe against what he described as congressional obstruction in confirming his nominees, which he argued was more urgent than ever amid the coronavirus pandemic. The Senate, which is narrowly controlled by Republicans, is not expected to return until May 4 but has been conducting pro forma sessions in the meantime, preventing Trump from making recess appointments "The Senate should either fulfill its duty and vote on my nominees or it should formally adjourn so I can make recess appointments," Trump said. "We have a tremendous number of people that have to come into government. And now more so than ever before because of the virus and the problem." The president threatened to use his "constitutional authority" to adjourn both chambers of Congress, which would allow him to make recess appointments to vacant positions. "The current practice of leaving town while conducting phony pro forma sessions is a dereliction of duty that the American people can not afford during this crisis," he said. "It is a scam, what they do. It’s a scam. And everybody knows it and it’s ben that way for a long time." Complete article here: Trump threatens to adjourn both chambers of Congress

President Donald Trump’s appointees to jobs at Agriculture Department headquarters include a long-haul truck driver, a country club cabana attendant and the owner of a scented-candle company. Trump hires campaign workers instead of farm experts at USDA

Nobody can approve nominees who haven't even been nominated. There are 150+ vacancies for which he's made no nominations. He makes "acting" appointments because those don't need confirmation.

All these attempted power grabs in the last few weeks have me wondering just what was discussed in the undocumented extended meeting with Putin.

This is just amazing to watch. For some reason I thought it would be difficult for a dictator to set up in the U.S. Apparently not.

I'm seeing articles about all kinds of things he's gotten done in the way of revoking regulations and human rights. Defunding things he doesn't like, giving money to his friends...

Article I Section 5 ... 4: Neither House, during the Session of Congress, shall, without the Consent of the other, adjourn for more than three days, nor to any other Place than that in which the two Houses shall be sitting.
Section 7 ... 3: Every Order, Resolution, or Vote to which the Concurrence of the Senate and House of Representatives may be necessary (except on a question of Adjournment) shall be presented to the President of the United States;
Article II Section 3
...and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper; ... I think it is clear when he has the power to adjourn them and it is very limited.

Someone needs to unilaterally adjourn Donald Trump.

I agree with dj - he 's grandstanding.
I think he is deliberately trying to distract attention from his abysmal performance as a "leader" during a pandemic. Same thing with withholding funds from WHO

He also announced today during this presser that he's sending our ventilators to Russia. America first except when it comes to American lives. We can die for all he cares.

and if you are an anti-government insurgency, they probably look like accomplishments.
until the thing you dismantle ends up being needed....like....say.....the pandemic arm of the CDC?

Its probably still working for the faithful. They may not know or care Trump is the biggest reason his nominees aren't approved. He feels they are easier to get rid of, if it isn't official.

I don't think anything he is doing is good. My point is that you guys can't stop him. He wants to dismantle things and he's doing it. I repeat, I thought it would be more difficult for a dictator to take over.

Honestly as time goes on I'm starting to fear when we don't get an ignorant asshole in the office and it's someone who can actually figure out how to effectively walk through the holes he's blown wide open. I worry it'll be near impossible to close back up.

I hate to say it but 45 is not wrong in that the way Congress handles no one there and not officially adjuring/closing down is fucked up. And both sides do it. I mean, 45 is wrong about damn near everything else.

The question is, why? Why is this suddenly something for Trump to whine about? Who does he suddenly NEED to appoint that congress won't approve?
Or is it just more distraction to cover for some other thing he doesn't want us to notice?

I flipped past fox last night and they were ranting that this virus came from a lab, I just kept flipping. They are the only one that has said anything like that.

The morons will swallow that up and spread it on social media. The only reputable sources I've seen say it occurred in nature.

We could probably make someone head explode by suggesting that this means that their labs and scientists are so much smarter than the US's though.
