I am an introvert/homebody when I can get away with it, and I love working from home. I also have no reason to believe my income could take a hot from this. Still, even I am growing tired of the shutdowns, and I am very much in support of them I don't think we can or should close things down for months on end. I think we lost our chance to really squash this thing, and now it's gotten too big. Now we're on a slow roll, so I guess I'd be okay with people who have already been infected and are recovered to proceed with their business. Or if people were truly informed, and still willing to take their chances. I simply don't feel like most of the people in that last category are truly informed because their leader has lied to them over and over again.B I guess it's a question of informed consent. Is it possible to give informed consent if the information is false?

Generally, I don't question polls too much. I have a vague understanding of statistics and how the polls are done. When a poll states something different than my personal experience, I tend to believe the polls, because i know what a small, specific world i live in. However, i am really struggling to believe this 85% of people want to extend the lockdown figure. I would say 85% of people (friends IRL and Facebook, etc.) want to start opening. I am drowning in lefty-liberals over here and spend a lot of time rolling our eyes at Trump and criticizing Republicans, my facebook feed is usually full of articles supporting progressive ideas. So seeing so many people clambering for re-opening makes me question what these polls are asking. If it was announced that world-wide we were continuing on in isolation/shut down mode till 2022 - the who, the united nations - everyone came together and said that's what was happening, I'd hardly bat an eye. I know some people are having a hard time, but IRL I don't know any. I'm worried about a lot of things the may occur - food insecurity, etc. - but there is nothing happening during lockdown right now that is terrible for me. And I don't know anyone who has mentioned anything like that to me either.

My 9 year old is getting zero learning right now, and that's with me at home at least trying. All the parents that can't work from home, what are they going to do? Just leave the kids to their own devices for nearly 2 years?
And people ARE having a hard time whether you know them or not. I could just as well say that I know people are dying, but I don't know any IRL so open things up.

I'm sorry - I was relating my situation and those I'm immediately in communication with. I said I knew some where having a hard time, so I'm not sure what else you want me to say about it. I wasn't advocating anything - I was only mentioning that it wouldn't bother me.

We've been playing a lot of Exploding Kittens lately, and there is a card called the "Hairy Potato Cat". That is what my kids are turning into. Hairy potatoes...

I can't imagine many jobs that would remain in place with a lock down through 2022. All the shit will just start to roll downhill and put most everyone out of work. Banks and other institutions can't waive fees forever without putting themselves out of business. Sales tax revenue is already way down and cities and states are going to have to start cutting more people. Nobody having money to buy tech gadgets will put tech companies out if business. And so on and so forth...

Just personal experience here...I think a lot of people started out with the best of intentions when this started 8 weeks ago but now it has consumed every moment of our lives and people are growing tired. I know retired folks that have decided they are sick of not seeing their grandchildren. They are starting to weigh the risks. If they are in their 60's with a lot of life left to live they decide to stay away but those in their 80's are saying forget it...I don't have much longer to live anyway so I will risk seeing my family.
The young people in my city are still gathering. Their risk factor is low and asking people in their teens and 20's to not socialize is a tall order. I'm extremely happy i didn't go through this back in the 90's. I was a social butterfly. I'm not sure I could have handled it...

I hope the rest of the questions were a little more specific. I couldn't answer 'Should people return to work' with a yes or no. Should me and my office, who are all doing quite well working from home return to work? No. Should we open some things and have some other voluntarily return to work? Yes. Should we open everything and force everyone to return to work? No. Did NPR and PBS do a random sampling, or was this focused on their listeners? Because.... Here is the link to the site from which you could download the answers to all your questions and much more. I got an error. All in all, I hate polls when you are talking about a decision that has a spectrum answers. Are you voting for candidate A or B is clear. How should we open the country - there are literally millions of answers.

Is it possible to give informed consent if the information is false? The experts are given plenty of chances to talk. They show up on Fox News almost daily. If someone wants to take the gut feelings of a politician or pundit over the advice of experts, that’s on them.
