Let's watch the religious discussion on here, please. Regarding the religious services, it isn't about whether they have free choice to trust in their God, it is about them infecting other people after they observe these services. People aren't quarantined to protect themselves, but to protect others. It is not about YOU Pastor.

If they don't have to follow stay at home rules, they shouldn't have to follow building codes.

If churches are essential businesses then they damn sure should be paying taxes Until they pay income taxes, property taxes, other state and local taxes, there is really no separation of church and state.

If churches are essential businesses then they damn sure should be paying taxes This is a debate about what should or shouldn't be. The building code thing is a clear, simple example of a law that is there for the safety of the people in the church. It costs the church time and money to follow the rules, and often disrupts their worship and fellowship (if, say, they are remodeling). I have never heard the argument that the first amendment exempts them from building codes. Yet, in the case of adjusting their schedule and methods to accommodate the safety of their members and the community, it is suddenly a supposed constitutional crisis.

I'm hearing noise about the CARES Act applying to Church employees - so Pastors and such... I'm thinking I'm not happy about that. Separation of Church and State and all.

Kansas governor has extended the stay at home order (and limits to gathering including churches) to May 3rd instead of ending this Sunday. Probably a good thing as the IMHE prediction for the peak in Kansas is April 29.
