There's already a small lawsuit. The Dem Gov wanted to push back the election. Rep state supreme court said no the night before. If they take this up, shows even more how corrupt the Reps are to win elections

This is wonderful, I think it shows how determined democrats are to get rid of repubs.
It goes to show that if we turn out we can do this!! Let's keep up the good work and get these anti Americans out.

The supreme court judge that Trump threw his support behind (and claimed, just a few hours later, that there had been a 'surge' in support for him) LOST to a liberal justice - and now there with that judge, plus a conservative judge who has come out against the huge voter registration purge that the GOP was planning to do prior to the November election. So now, there will be no voter purge in a state where Trump only squeaked out a win with something like 20,000 votes, PLUS, Trump has egg on his face for coming out in supporter of the LOSER. And of course, the GOP in Wisconsin are claiming the Dems had some kind of scam going to suppress the vote.

Yeah, there was 1 lawsuit filed on Monday afternoon, specifically done prior to the results being released because they wanted it to be non-partisan. I assume there will be more coming. The County Exec. position had a difference of 1,039 votes, if my math is correct. That'll go to recount.
It sounds like the GOP is now going to be taking up the issue of mail in voter fraud.
I apparently missed a referendum on the ballot. I saw and voted for 2 referendums. Ooops.

Maine just re-scheduled our June primary to July 14. Just like that. No hocus pocus, no magic. Just change the date. Keep pushing it back and it will be after the democratic convention!

They talked about doing it for a while, but the official change did not occur until after the convention was postponed. Not that it mattered- we had our Presidential primary in March. This one is for Senatorial and other candidates. I know, confusing!

I really do not understand the states that have separate Presidential primaries. Indiana lumps everything together, local, state federal and presidential. Get it done in one day and done. I understand some states let the individual party run the Presidential primary, but do not think that should be done that way. Waste of time and money.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court just overruled the governor who tried to delay the primary election. It is back on for tomorrow, even though enough poll workers have dropped out that Milwaukee will only have 5 polling stations instead of its usual 500. In another decision, the Supreme Court just ruled that the time extension for absentee ballots was unconstitutional, so the voters won't have the opportunity to request absentee ballots under an extension. www.cnn.com/2020/04/06/politics/wisconsin-primary-election/index.htmlSo what would you do if you lived in Wisconsin? Would you turn out and vote? I would miss the election and stay home due to COVID-19. That's rough for Wisconsin citizens. Damned if you go to vote and damned if you don't. If your supreme court aren't appointed for life, they should be voted out of office. Our Supreme Court Seats are for 10 years, but this did not just go to the State Supreme court, it went to the US Supreme Court, where they struck down the provision that Mail in ballots could be counted as long as they were received by the 13th, The Supreme court struck that down, and said they have to be postmarked by the 7th (election day) and received by the 13th to be counted. The postmark was not in State Law to begin with, which caused a whole 'nother set of issues because many mail in ballots were not postmarked at all, but received on the 8th, so obviously mailed on the 7th.
We also have large batches of absentee ballots that never made it to the intended recipients, they were found just sitting in batches at the post office abandoned.

I saw an article on jsonline about the WI assembly having virtual meetings today and tomorrow. One twitter poster said if the legislation forced voters to go to the polls, the legislators should be forced to meet in person. I fully agree with this. Work for your constituents instead of putting them in harms way!!

Wisconsin - another notch in the belt of trumpism for the death of democracy. I disagree with this. Elected a Dem Gov over Scott Walker, who was in the mix for the Rep candidate in 2016. Now elected a Dem Supreme Court judge over and incumbent Rep judge.

Wisconsin- Fighting for America That is what I see. Kudos to them. A friend of ours is from the Badger State, stuck in FL at the moment. When they get back I'm going to give her a high five!

It seems like the conservatives in WI forcing the election to continue did not work out in their favor.

Now elected a Dem Supreme Court judge over and incumbent Rep judge. My comment was going to be we have been a strong Republican State for years.
Since I graduated from High School:
41 Anthony Earl (Wisconsin Governor). January 3, 1983 - January 5, 1987 Democratic 42 Tommy Thompson January 5, 1987 - February 1, 2001 Republican 43 Governor Scott McCallum 2001 - February 1, 2001 January 6, 2003 Republican 44 Jim Doyle January 6, 2003 - January 3, 2011 Democratic 45 Scott Walker January 3, 2011 - January 7, 2019 Republican 46 Tony Evers January 7, 2019 Incumbent Democratic
The Governor's office seems to flip back and forth, but the legislature is so Gerrymandered that "In 2012,...Republicans won less than half the votes, but conquered 60 of the state’s 99 assembly seats. The Republicans grew their majority in 2014 and 2016, despite earning just over 50% of the statewide vote." So, in short, Democrats can win Statewide Elections, but they would need a supermajority of votes to win even 1/2 of the legislature - THIS IS NOT A DEMOCRACY! www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/apr/10/wisconsin-voter-restrictions-democracy-coronavirus-primary

Gerrymandering. One of the most egregious faults in our system. Right up there with lobbyists, big money, the Electoral College. Shameful.

but why the hell our election season is 2 years long is beyond me. we could be more like the rest of the civilized world and do it in 2 months.

that is a national problem since Project Red Map.

Interesting thing I read on my Smartnews ap on my lunch hour.
The Supreme Court Ruling that ballots that are postmarked by Election day is a nightmare for the Republican Vote Suppressing Regime.
Apparently There are several 5-7 Southern States that say the ballots have to be received by election day. The Supreme court ruling that they have to be Postmarked by election day, and then given another week to be received - will be a game changer that forces states to change their election laws.
Really there are a lot of reforms I would like to see, but Baby Steps.

It is a systemic fault that we should work to minimize. There are ways to do that. Having boards of equal amount interested parties on them, overseen by the judiciary (or even made up of the judiciary) is one way to mitigate it a bit.

that raised the bar for Gerrymandering to such a degree as to render whataboutism impotent.
there has literally never been anything so politically craven in US history, and hopefully there never will be, again.
