I disagree that "we all know". There is a difference of opinion as evidenced by the votes in GOP primaries so far. I post things like this in the hope that posters like @x see it. I have to hope that he and people like him will reach a point of not being able to justify supporting Trump, at least on a secret ballot. I have to have Trump for another four years. I have never made so much money on bonds in my entire life, considering the time frame of this last month or so. Thank you Trump, for continuing record breaking stock market highs, pulling down the price of federal bonds the last year. I bought millions worth after dumping stocks through 2026/2017. Now I've sold them in the ensuing flight to safety from the stockmarket. We also have another Supreme court judge ready to be replaced, whether she knows it or not. What are the chances of her making another 4 years. You know me, I'm in it for the long game, not the last week's news on the liberal mainstream media. (Guess who's been buying stocks on those record down days ?) My close neighbor to the north, Missouri, has crossed a positive threshold of more recoveries from covid -19 than new cases. This article I read this morning seems appropriate to highlight here: Why Trump doesn't want to wear a mask

You should know by now that if he chooses to or not, to wear a mask, means nothing.

Wandering a bit, are we ? You should know by now that if he chooses to or not, to wear a mask, means nothing. sure. and if you walk around with a load of dogshit smeared in your hair, that would also mean nothing.
however, people would take that as a symbol of your mental health, right?
if you are saying that presidential behavior has no impact on public behavior, I would call that naiive at best.

But it's not dog shit, and the masks are a secondary consideration at best, if you don't cover your eyes also I'll have to admit to having dried chicken shit on me when I went into town, after they flapped around while feeding them on a rainy day, lol. New shirt too, kind of annoying. Of course I voted for Trump also.

In addition, he would be setting a good example, especially to people who take his lead. They might actually believe this is important, and won't congregate by the thousands on Easter Sunday. That would be an infection control nightmare.

Again, we used to believe that setting a good example matters. Now it appears to be do as I say, not as I do. That's going to work well.

As in, he's wearing a mask so we will too ! Weee, fun ! We're learning by example ! Anyone with even minimal background in epidemiology, knows the masks help prevent you from spreading to others. It just might be that Trump is expecting adults to be as. If you don't have a minimal medical background, follow the guidelines provided by the CDC.

When you live on a ranch in the middle of nowhere, your priorities are different. I could comfortably live here for years, without crossing the property lines. Covid-19 ? What Covid-19.

Look at how you started the post that I quoted: "I have to have Trump for another four years." That is what makes the article Why Trump doesn't want to wear a mask appropriate. It isn't about Trump not wearing a mask. It is about "why" President Trump doesn't want to wear a mask that will, has you point out "help prevent (him) from spreading to others."

I kind of do live in the middle of nowhere in upstate NY. However, this area has the statistically largest growth of COVID in NYS. It's not going to make news because the population is so small, the net effect isn't "impressive," but the rates of infection is increasing frighteningly fast. I'm glad you can live years without leaving your property. Not everybody is you. I can't. I'm pretty well off and live outside of town but I still have to go buy milk. I have to work. DH does too, he's in the healthcare field

To what degree is someone like @x truly self sufficient and to what degree are they simply able to have others take the risk of exposure while keeping themselves safe?

The DW and I are 'kind of' peppers so this is easy for us. I was published on this decades ago, but with more of a biologic weapon angle to it. The process is still the same. I'm not posting these things I post because of any ill will to anyone, it's just what's happening and everyone is in their own situation. Interesting you would choose that one line out of the whole post. Unfortunately the virus won't care if your response is only about me. My current privilege as you call it, was self earned. Tone deaf maybe, but I'm a realist who doesn't sugar coat things. That's more the department of a politician. Trump did that at the outset of this virus, even with the WHO saying similar at the time. In that 20/20 hindsight, only he is remembered as not taking the right tact.
