Maybe I'm reading the linked article wrong, but I didn't see any reference to him weighing in on trade policy. It was basically about him telling DT not to tell people we have a treatment when there is no proof of it. Can you maybe point out the part where Fauci is trying to influence trade policy? I didn't see it.

Did you see the part where President Trump's lead trade negotiator was arguing medical issues with Fauci?

Did you see the part where President Trump's lead trade negotiator was arguing medical issues with Fauci? Why would anyone who is not a doctor feel qualified to argue with a doctor regarding medical issues? I read about Navarro thinking that he is qualified because he has a phd, but unless his degree is in infectious diseases, he is not qualified to argue with a doctor who specializes in them. What's your point?

Who would go on national television and voice support for the position held by such a person over the position of someone with a great deal of expertise in the area? Again, what type of idiot would do that?

Trump had a relative that went to MIT. So by osmosis trump is apparently more qualified than any MD because he has an MIT once removed. At least according to trump this is so. Using his vast store of MIT knowledge, once removed, trump has determined that a malarial drug is pretty hep for the Wuhan flu too.
So I can see how Navarro, by inference, can use his Social Scientist cred to be down on medical stuff and all as well.
As to whether or not Fauci is qualified on trade policy, that is questionable. He has shown decidedly non-trumpette tendencies at times, and is probably NOT capable of incombobulating the economic gobbledygook needed to be a stable genius on financial matters, especially regarding trade.

My dad, uncle, and grandfather were all dentists with medical degrees from Tufts University and McGill University (Montreal).
With all those dental and educational genes in my body, I don't need no medical degree to hang up my dental shingle on my front door and start treating patients.

The interesting point about this is very few physicians are thinking this is a miracle drug as is being tauted by non-physicians. Medicine is littered with ideas that seemed to work with anecdotal data, that turned out to be wrong. In addition, no treatment is innocuous. We wait for data. But now every body is an expert. See fit to criticize our actions all the time.
Saw Navarro's reaction. He is an idiot. Maybe he should stick to trade policy. It is clear he still has a lot to learn

Are you just bored? There is a disagreement in the Trump Administration over the anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine. President Donald Trump's top trade adviser Peter Navarro is pushing its use. Dr. Anthony FaucI is urging caution about the drug. Trump in recent days has pointed to hydroxychloroquine as a treatment so obviously he is taking medical advice from his trade adviser. I am sarcastically (as pointed out by irishpad) suggesting that only an idiot would take the advise of the non-expert by switching the topic from one person's area of expertise to the other person's area of expertise. And, yes, I am bored as hell.

Satire from The Borowitz ReportTrump Optimistic About Winning Nobel Prize in MedicineBy Andy Borowitz WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Borowitz Report)—Calling it an “amazing accomplishment,” Donald J. Trump said on Monday that he believes that he is the “clear favorite” to win this year’s Nobel Prize in Medicine. Trump said that he was a “lock” to win the Nobel because of his pioneering work in prescribing the drug hydroxychloroquine. “I’ve been talking about hydroxychloroquine so much that a lot of people think I invented it,” Trump said. “You have to give the Nobel to someone who invents a major drug like that.” He dismissed any claim that his lack of medical credentials disqualify him from winning the Nobel Prize in Medicine. “Just the opposite,” he said. “The fact that I’m not a doctor makes my ability to prescribe drugs that much more impressive.” Trump said that he hoped the Nobel committee would be a “hell of a lot more fair” about giving out the Nobel in Medicine than they were in bestowing the Nobel Peace Prize. “I did peace, I did peace great, and I didn’t get the Peace Prize,” Trump said. “If I don’t get the Medicine Prize, then the whole Nobel business is rigged.” He revealed that his medical discoveries had “blown away” the doctors on the White House Coronavirus Task Force. ... Well, we all know what level of intelligence our fearless leader possesses. ... I disagree that "we all know". There is a difference of opinion as evidenced by the votes in GOP primaries so far. I post things like this in the hope that posters like @x see it. I have to hope that he and people like him will reach a point of not being able to justify supporting Trump, at least on a secret ballot.

We are just starting to see the ramp up. Have been at far too many meetings and it only been a few weeks. it is like a slow motion disaster for us right now. It is raining, the river is rising, and you expect it to flood sometime. Just don't know when or how high. Like Tom Petty said, "the waiting is the hardest part. Yes, people like me are in high demand. Wish it wasn't the case

Just pliers and a bottle of whiskey ought to do it. As long as your gut is egging you on.

I have to hope that he and people like him will reach a point of not being able to justify supporting Trump, at least on a secret ballot. I have to have Trump for another four years. I have never made so much money on bonds in my entire life, considering the time frame of this last month or so. Thank you Trump, for continuing record breaking stock market highs, pulling down the price of federal bonds the last year. I bought millions worth after dumping stocks through 2026/2017. Now I've sold them in the ensuing flight to safety from the stockmarket. We also have another Supreme court judge ready to be replaced, whether she knows it or not. What are the chances of her making another 4 years. You know me, I'm in it for the long game, not the last week's news on the liberal mainstream media. (Guess who's been buying stocks on those record down days ?) My close neighbor to the north, Missouri, has crossed a positive threshold of more recoveries from covid -19 than new cases.
