of the coronavirus response? There's an oped in this morning's NYT. If I had a clue about posting a link, I'd do it. Donald Trump + Jared Kushner. Dumb and Dumber. Only question is when they’ll actually clash because they’re equally sociopathic, egomaniacal, narcissistic. There’s only room for one in that world. They can't both be the smartest guy in the room. "When New York’s governor, Andrew Cuomo, said that the state would need 30,000 ventilators at the apex of the coronavirus outbreak, Kushner decided that Cuomo was being alarmist. “I have all this data about I.C.U. capacity,” Kushner reportedly said. “I’m doing my own projections, and I’ve gotten a lot smarter about this. New York doesn’t need all the ventilators.” I'll try to post the link. Let's see if it works. link

LOL. Tell ya what, though, we can rest assured that he has far more expertise, more experience, more hands-on knowledge than Gov. Cuomo or Dr. Fauci. We're safe in his hands, especially because he has the trust and backing of The Donald.

because old white guys pick other guys that remind them of themselves to groom to be in charge.
AFter all, if the old white guy is so successful, he must be doing everything right, and what better recipe for success than another younger version of himself?

I saw something on twitter last night - where he says Federal stockpile is supposed to be our stockpile. It's not supposed to be used by the states - or something stupid like that.
Someone had replied - Put your son in law in charge of the car dealership franchise, not the pandemic response.

When asked about the federal government's response to states that have requested shipments from the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS), Kushner—a former real estate developer with no medical background—suggested states and the residents and healthcare professionals fighting the coronavirus pandemic are not entitled to the use of the government-funded stockpile of medical equipment. " The notion of the federal stockpile was it's supposed to be our stockpile," Kushner told the press. "It's not supposed to be state stockpiles that they then use." Kushner did not elaborate on what the federal government might use the stockpile for if not to supply the public with the equipment in the event of a national health crisis. According to the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials, the SNS is "designed to supplement and resupply state and local inventories of medicines and supplies during emergencies severe enough to exhaust local supplies." www.commondreams.org/news/2020/04/03/jared-kushner-no-government-background-scolds-states-requesting-supplies-national"Our" stockpile? What does that even mean? It's only for the nasty Trump family? It's only for the sycophants who work at the White House?

Unbelievable, you can't make this up Instead of complaining and risking Trump's wrath, they sent it to a company in the Bay Area to fix them and send them back to LA . They are also refurbishing 500 ventilators held by the state.

Maybe he's hoping if we use the masks, we won't find out the ventilators don't work?

The Trump administration just changed its description of the national stockpile to jibe with Jared Kushner’s controversial claimThe Trump administration on Friday changed its description of the Strategic National Stockpile on a government website after journalists noted that it contradicted a claim Jared Kushner had made about the program. Kushner on Thursday evening offered a novel argument about the national stockpile. He said some states still had stockpiles that they hadn’t been employing for the coronavirus outbreak and that localities should go to them first. And then he suggested that the national stockpile wasn’t even meant for them. “And the notion of the federal stockpile was it’s supposed to be our stockpile,” Kushner said. “It’s not supposed to be states’ stockpiles that they then use.” As reporters quickly noted, that didn’t match with how the Department of Health and Human Services was describing the program. On its website, it said, “Strategic National Stockpile is the nation’s largest supply of life-saving pharmaceuticals and medical supplies for use in a public health emergency severe enough to cause local supplies to run out.” It continued to say, "When state, local, tribal, and territorial responders request federal assistance to support their response efforts, the stockpile ensures that the right medicines and supplies get to those who need them most during an emergency.” Complete article here: The Trump administration just changed its description of the national stockpile to jibe with Jared Kushner’s controversial claim

Another interesting article: How Tea Party Budget Battles Left the National Emergency Medical Stockpile Unprepared for CoronavirusDire shortages of vital medical equipment in the Strategic National Stockpile that are now hampering the coronavirus response trace back to the budget wars of the Obama years, when congressional Republicans elected on the Tea Party wave forced the White House to accept sweeping cuts to federal spending. Among the victims of those partisan fights was the effort to keep adequate supplies of masks, ventilators, pharmaceuticals and other medical equipment on hand to respond to a public health crisis. Lawmakers in both parties raised the specter of shortchanging future disaster response even as they voted to approve the cuts. “There are always more needs for financial support from our hardworking taxpayers than we have the ability to pay,” said Denny Rehberg, a retired Republican congressman from Montana who chaired the appropriations subcommittee responsible for overseeing the stockpile in 2011. Rehberg said it would have been impossible to predict a public health crisis requiring a more robust stockpile, just as it would have been to predict the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. “It’s really easy to second-guess and suggest we didn’t do as much,” he said. “Why didn’t we have a protocol to protect the Twin Towers? Whoever thought that was going to happen? Whoever thought Hurricane Katrina was going to occur? You tell me what’s going to happen in 2030, and I will communicate that to congressmen and senators.” There were, in fact, warnings at the time: A 2010 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention-funded report by the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials urged the federal government to treat public health preparedness “on par with federal and state funding for other national security response capabilities,” and said that its store of N95 masks should be “replenished for future events.” Complete article here: How Tea Party Budget Battles Left the National Emergency Medical Stockpile Unprepared for Coronavirus

Seems like he was stopped from restocking it.

Trump doesn't trust anyone, especially 'experts.' He's running government the same way he did his business, just a handful of his loyal toadies and family members running everything. And also, shred everything so they can't nail you with written proof.
