Andy Beshear calls on 3M to release patent for N95 respirator amid pandemic The N95 is considered top-of-the-line face protection for the professionals on the front lines of this pandemic, but Beshear said it's been especially hard to procure. "The procurement is incredibly difficult, as is the manufacture because it’s under patent. I’d like to see the people with that patent, which is 3M, provide that to the nation under a license for this period of time," the governor said. "I believe it’s their patriotic duty, and they should put it out there so everybody else can manufacture it," he said of 3M. "That hasn’t happened."

The patent isn't the issue, it is the retooling of the facilities to make the N95s. Honeywell is expanding its facilities to make N95s, it is just going to take time to get the proper machines, space, permits, people, etc. Just like it's going to take GM and Ford time to switch to ventilators.

weltschmerz I said it was a kakistocracy early into his administration on an FB post. My FB friends must be oblivious because there was not one comment. Oblivious, didn't understand the meaning of the word or were too lazy to look it up. Now that I think about it, my FB "friends" are mostly family. As we say in the South, my mama didn't raise no dumb kids. So what do I attribute it to? Gardening Grandma WaPo and NYT have both removed their paywalls for Covid-19 news.

We have so many ignorant. I know in our area a few of us hate him and what he has done to the US domestically and internationally. But these people will likely vote for him again. I cannot understand why, we won't and many others.
But remember we are dealing with so much voter suppression and gerrymandering and now he is packing the courts, I don't know what we can do. Soon it will be the majority out gunned by the minority. A very bad situation for us to be in. Hard to vote them out anymore. A sad, sorry mess we don't approve of.
