Ok, I'll give a serious answer. I don't think I'll be getting one so it is a mute issue. But I don't mind since my life, income, outgo has not changed due to all the things crashing down on others. If I did get one I would most likely give it to Food Bank or my other favorite charity. Why don't you think you will get one? If you are married filing jointly, your AGI would have to be greater than $150k to not be eligible for the full amount.

No, we don't walk away. But when we're holding on to something precious, we run.

Our AGI was $113K so we're getting it, plus 2 kids. So $3400. Our tax refunds just hit too. We're going to sit on it for now. DH is worried about his job, come summer. He and I are both working now, him from home and me at my office.

Because I am 37 yrs divorced, retired and won't be posting income on here But if it shows up in my account I will just do what I said in the quoted post. And the only thing I will ever do jointly with someone is "smoke"!!

I won't be getting one, either. are you sure you will be, hoops902 ? Nope, not sure at all. I haven't really read up on it since we're not counting on it. But the fact that we're not sure if we're getting it might make it easier to convince my wife we should blow it on something stupid if we DO get it.

If you don't have anything to spend it on, feel free to send that check %Busymom. We're moving during one of the worst times in US history, and would welcome the $$.

My FIL is moving from FL to SC this week (started Monday), and plans to make 3 trips...and he's in his 70's. I don't like it at all, but what can I do? He doesn't seem concerned in the least.

It will most likely sit in savings or help with all the "support local business" spending we've been (gladly) doing. We really don't need this money, so if it just sits in savings waiting to be used for good then that's fine with me.
I'm actually feeling both grateful and guilty right now. Grateful because we both have our jobs and those look safe. We also keep our essential spending (mortgage, utilities, etc) low enough that we could (finally!) pay them on one income. We also have enough in savings to carry us for a while. Guilty, because we're somehow making more now than before everything changed. My husband's job is considered essential (grocery-related) so he's going to work still and he had an insane couple of weeks, so his paycheck last week not only had his OT but also a small thank you bonus. Since I am on mandatory work from home, I am exempt from the Philly wage tax so that's essentially an almost 2.5% raise (my local tax is 1% but I pay 3.44% to Philly). So yeah, very happy and grateful to be in the position we are in, but also just feeling some guilt because we are experiencing good fortune and so many people around us aren't.

I already spent $2800 of ours on training for a CPC certification. The other $600 will sit in savings.

Assuming there is ever anywhere to go other than the grocery store (which I am trying to stay far away from), I would like to spend it on a trip somewhere... I will donate some to our local zoo. With no ticket sales happening they need some help with taking care of the animals.

It'll replace the money in savings that I moved to my Roth last week. Figured it was safe enough to put some money in the Roth because worst case I can pull it back out. So far through May I'm only furloughed 2 weeks so I should be ok. Will the decreased spending from not being able to do anything I should be fine. Well, unless this keeps going well into fall. If schools don't open back up not sure what my job will do.

I won't get the full 1200, and I do plan to put it in my roth. I know it doesn't sound fun, but I've been spending more than usual lately being stuck at home. I am doing some home renovation projects and doing my spring yard work. I just started funding one again this year and just put 1500 in. I hope to put another 1500 in within the next month.

I am fortunate enough to still be working plus I get a military pension. If/When I get a stimulus check I have already decided that $500 will go to my local homeless shelter, $500 to the county Emergency Assistance Fund and $200 will be used for gift certificates to local restaurants.

I was going to donate part of mine, looks like we will get some after I saw the final income guidelines, we no longer make that much money.
But in thinking about it, may have renters not able to pay for awhile and may need to use it for taxes and insurance on properties and we will owe estimated tax payments for state and federal in June. So may not be able to be as generous as I want to be.

DH is putting his in savings...I'm going to give mine to my DGS since he graduates college next month with no job prospects in this economy & virus mess. Hope that will keep him afloat for at least a month.

Our 2019 tax return AGI is between the $150K and $190K so not sure how much we will receive. Looking to donate about half to local food bank and keeping other half to see how things turn out.

I'm not certain I will get anything either. My tax return numbers put me in a category of low income housing and food stamps...lol....I did see a glimpse of something that said you won't qualify if you didn't receive a refund....don't qualify for that either. Love my CPA and Financial guy, but maybe not that much. teehee.

I've seen this on several fb posts. People really do not understand how taxes work! (not meaning BG)

All I was doing was posting something that I read by glancing it. My other stuff is simply what I consider interesting. Not everyone pays no taxes for 2 years in a row. Sure makes me happy, to have little if any taxable income.
