$2400 for a couple, plus $1000 for our 2 kids. How should we spend this coronavirus windfall? I was thinking maybe we could have a big party and invite lots of people over...just really fill the house, pack them all in, and celebrate?
I assume the stock YM answer will be "we're investing ours because it'll turn into billions".
Is anyone doing something specific with theirs other than the goody-two-shoes answers of investing it or donating it (not that those aren't good answers, they're just expected)?

I would certainly spend it tomorrow just in case Wonder how many people have bought stuff on cc in anticipation of the great windfall.

Considering I got my first three tattoos in part as a form of stress release I imagine $3400 could make a good dent in my current stress.
Bonus is I support local artists!

I'm lucky to have a job I can do from home while my wife has an essential job so we're both still getting paid while our expenses have actually gone down on account of following a stay in place order. Anything we get I plan to send to a food bank and another group my wife is a fan of that helps out abandoned/stray animals and I'll add some of our own funds on top of it.

Or how about something like: I survived COVID-19 - but my marriage didn't (each in a half of a broken heart.)

I am pretty sure we won't get one, and I am certainly fine that we don't. There are people in need that should have it. However, it we did get a check, we would be donating it somehow.

I won’t get one. I don’t need one so I’m fine with that. I sure hope my tenants use theirs to pay their rent!

We make too money to get anything. If we were getting anything, it would go to house projects.

Too much uncertainty to spend. I suppose if we’re still employed this time next year we will use it on a spring break trip.

We'll probably give it to our kids who likely will have their hours cut or lose their jobs.

Mine will be $1700. $1200 will go towards property taxes and $500 to credit card debt.

Ok, I'll give a serious answer. I don't think I'll be getting one so it is a mute issue. But I don't mind since my life, income, outgo has not changed due to all the things crashing down on others. If I did get one I would most likely give it to Food Bank or my other favorite charity.

We will be getting the same amount.
It will go to savings. We just replaced our well pump on Monday, so $947 will go to replenish what was spent out of savings for that.
If we all make it through without any layoffs or other disasters, it is going to finish the bonus room of the house we are hoping to build next year. Because if the coronavirus has taught me anything, it is that I definitely need a dedicated office space if my children are at home for any reason.
Or I might spend it on a vacation to take my kids to Disney World for the first time. Because I'm a heathen like that.

My DH is laid off and waiting for UC to start. He is 60 and has never not worked. We both make too much to get this stimulus check.

I don't think I'm going to get any stimulus money I make too much money. If I do get some, I was gonna give it to a friend who won't get any of this money because she doesn't have any income.

I will get $1,200
The money will stay in my savings account until all this craziness is over.
There's no guarantee I'll be employed when we go back to normal life, and I may need the money for basics.
If I make it ok then I'll decide what to do with it. I was thinking using it to pay the car loan earlier, but I'm leaning more towards spending it in a well-deserved vacation.

If we live to get it, I'll consult with DH about it. I think most if not all might go to charity. What we need, like masks, $$ can't buy so why keep it? There are some really great local groups struggling to survive right now, folks that will help the unemployed and underemployed going forward.

We're getting 4400. I'm going to spend 1400 of that and pre-pay karate for the peanut for a few months, and cheer for DD1. My hope is that 1K for one small business and 400 for the other will help with their cash flow better than anything else they can come up with. Plus, if I lose that money I'm OK with it. 1K towards a small vacation this summer.
2K towards braces for #2. Between that, and insurance, we'll have 5K..I'm hoping that's enough to cover. DS's mouth was bad, and that was 7K out of pocket. Hers are not as bad.

If we actually DO get $2400, it will almost cover the closing costs of our refi so I wouldn’t have to pull the funds from the IRA accounts
OTOH, Dh wants to spend his $1200 on parts for the car he is restoring, so I don’t know

We should get $3,400. We will just put it in the bank. DH already got a 10% pay cut and we're expecting he will get a furlough.

My check should be $1200. My plan is to transfer it to my savings account. I'm sure something will come along to take it.
