The've already found students are testing positive for after picking up Covid-19 while on Spring Break. After they were asked NOT to. Several times. Dumbass KidsI'm sick and tired of how selfish people are. Our peak isn't supposed to hit for a month yet, if the link on the money side of here is right. I'm really getting tired of getting penalized for other people's selfishness.

T1 used to live in NC. She said a girl she knows there is going to the beach saying that they've been cooped up in the house for too long. She's a SAHM, so I would think that she's used to spending a fair amount of time in the house. She took the kids to the beach with her.

YDS’ University’s plan at the start of Spring Break was that students could stay on campus at no additional cost for break but that everyone had to move out by March 23rd and go online for the rest of the semester. Many students still left campus with plans to return in time to collect their belongings while most stayed on campus. YDS stayed in his frat house with 12 other guys for Spring Break. The fraternity, since it is not owned by the university, planned to stay open until the end of May. That was YDS’ plan, figuring he would be safer in such a remote area. In fact, those who stayed at the frat house warned those who left that they could not come back in. One guy tried. Was allowed in to retrieve a gaming system and promptly kicked out. Most of the students who stayed in the dorms for Spring Break got the hell out before their dorm mates started returning, afraid to be exposed. In hindsight, the University should have told the students that once they left for Spring Break, they could not return. But there is no playbook for this pandemic. It’s hard to blame the school for its misstep when everything is unfolding in real time. Ultimately, the Fraternity changed its mind and kicked everyone out by March 27th. YDS was bummed to be forced to join the unwashed masses.
That said, neither of my kids would have gone to Florida/wherever for Spring Break in this pandemic — by their own choice. I would probably disown a kid who was so openly cavalier on a tv news camera about choosing bacchanalia over communal good. (Only partly kidding.)

Niece's son goes to college in N Dakota and the school was closed after spring break. Now they have been told to vacate their dorm rooms by this coming weekend.
Niece and son are flying up there Friday to put his things into storage and coming home Sunday. Just hope there isn't a sick person on the flights.

They could probably get a moving company to do that for them. Cheaper than flying in, less risk. I checked some out before we knew for sure what we were doing.

I’d abandon things before I’d go on a flight. He’s s college kid, how much is that stuff worth anyway

I was seeing on the parent Facebook page for one college that students still living on or near campus are running a little side business packing up other students for them and either moving it all to a local storage facility or shipping them their stuff.

Our university hired movers and paid for storage for those in the dorms that left stuff behind.

I'm tired of this too giramomma I live in a neighborhood of 2800 homes on a golf course. My county boarders some of the worst hit counties in georgia. Despite that the majority don't believe there is an issue. Even though we've gone from 2 cases to 60 in a matter of weeks in my county and have a few people from the neighborhood sick in hospitals that appear to have picked up covid 19 from somewhere local. One set of older neighbors near me had a bunch of people over on Saturday. They all sat in the front yard and some were wearing masks. The old men have not stopped playing golf, they sit 2-4 in a cart, you can see them congregate on the greens. Some of the folks concerned have been posting how they see tons of kids playing on the volleyball courts and basketball courts. Their parents either claim this isn't a real issue or that you can't control teenagers. Then I go to the grocery store and see the mom, dad, and all the kids running around. Can't someone stay at home with the kids? You wonder why Louisiana and Georgia are so hard hit right now, it is because the huge republican constituency believes that this is made up by the media and democrats. There is pretty much no testing unless you are over 60, work with people over 60, are a cop or work in healthcare, or if you are already in the hospital with everything else ruled out. So I think the reported numbers are a lot lower than reality. But I even saw a lady I know from high school that is a CNA at a nursing home posting pictures of herself and her friend out at walmart and the dollar store together. She doesn't live with the friend so she knowingly exposed herself just because she didn't want to go shopping alone. It is really unbelievable. If everyone could stay at home for 2 weeks we could be finished with this. Instead morons are making it drag out longer.
