The city mayor finally issued orders for more non essential businesses to close, and for us to shelter in place. The suburbs are expected to follow suit.
The city mayor has been slower than I’d prefer in shutting things down, but at least he’s been moving faster than the governor.

T1 thinks she's going to go batty in her apartment by herself so she's coming home and will quarantine here with me. I drive her batty, so I don't know how she thinks that's a good idea.

it, and liquor stores, provide a product that keeps some people calm. I get it. I was saying last night that I was amused by liquor stores being essential and T1 goes "Think about it. There would be severe alcoholics going through withdrawals and taking up more room in the ER." I guess I never looked at it that way. Our liquor stores are run by the state and they are closed. But beer distributors are privately owned and considered essential. Kind of bullshit if you ask me. But I might be bitter because my liquor stash is going faster than I thought and I hate beer...

I get liquor at Sam's in MO all the time. Plus the closest Sam's to me is in MO even though I live in KS.

MN doesn't allow alcohol to be sold in grocery stores (well, 3.2 beer...) Up until recently you couldn't buy alcohol on Sundays either.

I just had a really interesting telephone conversation with a customer service agent who lives somewhere in Kansas. (She didn't say where.) She'd heard that soon, in her city, if you were out driving you were going to need some sort of note giving you permission to be out and about?!? WTE? andi9899, have you heard about anything like this?

WTE? andi9899 , have you heard about anything like this? Not in KS, but we got an email from work last night with this wording.., Should you hear that your community has issued a shelter in place order, please contact your manager to see if you are to report to work. As our tagline says, “When it Matters” and right now, your role is essential as we support vital infrastructure in several sectors like medical, defense, and transportation. These are some of the sectors that have been identified as ‘critical’ by governments, meaning exceptions are in place that apply to products we manufacture. In communities where this has happened and [Redacted company name] has an exception, we are able to provide employees with a transit letter so that they are able to report to work in order to continue production on critical products.

Rub it in my face that you can get liquor at a grocery store! I live in PA, our liquor stores are state owned :-( There is one state store that is located inside a grocery store but it is it's own entity and they just rent the space. It's closed :-(

I don’t believe we are “shelter in place” yet so don’t know if he will need it or not.

Michigan controls liquor distribution, but it is available in any grocery stores with a liquor license. I always get it at Meijer.

We have a stay at home order in place starting at midnight. Our contractor thinks he'll still be allowed to come here to work. I don't really know. It's kind of a gray area. I wish he'd just hang tight for a while, but understand this is his livelihood. Wish they'd hurry up and pass the stimulus to help people with their bills.

Since we're a city that straddles 2 states, we're all being treated the same way regardless of state. Our order is for the 5 counties that make up KC, not a specific state.

I've seen that some tattoo shops are donating their gloves and masks to medical facilities since they have been forced to shut down.

And how do I PROVE I'm on my way to the grocery store (I suppose it's easy to prove on the way home) or to donate blood (due for that 3/31)?

One place we get take out from regularly posted they will ask you to wait outside if your food is not ready. They don't want people just waiting.

I'd assume you would be on the route between your house and where you claim you are going if anyone should stop you and ask? I've heard one of the problems with the state mandating people shelter in place without the feds sending in the military is there isn't a lot of enforcement possible. I'm kinda interested to see how that unfolds....

You get pulled over. They look at your license which has a home address. They will ask where you are headed. You say grocery store. They ask which one. You better be ready to name one that you are headed towards.

The enforcement is necessary to keep all of the vacant businesses safe, I would think.

I think a lot of enforcement will be like, "Hey, this is the third time the last two day I have spotted you driving around. What's up?"

You better be ready to name one that you are headed towards. The address on my driver’s license is about 40 minutes from where I actually live. I think I still have the email from where I updated my address online though. This is getting really complicated.

My emails are on my phone, I just need to clean up my inbox so I can find it easily if I need to. If I leave my house, it will be because I have to, so if I have to explain why, at least I won’t have to tell a lie lol. My job isn’t shutting down in any capacity, so I’ll have to leave the house at least 5 days a week. I’d be fine if I didn’t have to leave home for that either.

All non life sustaining businesses had to shut down Thursday night. There are fines and penalties for any business that remains open. But the list of life sustaining is ridiculous.
