Short QQQ (Nasdaq 100 etf and our benchmark) I don't see any reason to come off this pick. The weekly chart is just now looking somewhat oversold but the market trend is bearish. People can spin the corona virus concerns anyway they want but this is a black swan event that will have global economic impact. The market will eventually recover but I think it is unlikely to happen this week. schrts.co/VIZhxpXY |

Hello everyone!
Hope everyone is safe and healthy!
I guess I am back as of today, although, to be honest other than the investing threads i have not really missed all the negativity of most of the threads I participated in.
Just wanted to check in, I might start playing next week, although evey headline seems to blow up the game by the day. Sort of like a game of musical chairs with the last person sitting, wins,
I am hoping I can get back to what I was involved in within two months, but like much of America, I have been sidelined (not sick) from participation as our work was so hands on with the public and was curtailed.
Hope everone's portfolio held up under this disaster.
I will probably get sort of active on the board later this week. Right now trying to be there for family (adult kids and grandkids) and some of our neighbors if they need some assistance. So far all family members are ok. Surprisingly, the neighbors are all in good spirits and claim they are all fine, and all returned the idea of helping us out...... my wife told me they were all pretty good, but I have been away for most of this outbreak.
We are having a block long get together on our cul de sac sitting in our lawn chairs in the driveways tonight where we can talk to our immediate neighbors OR walk down the middle of the street to talk to others at a good distance apart.
Brave new world out there!

though I have to say this feels to me like the market is considering bottoming.

I have not moved one item yet into my new quarters. I'm using one of my computers at my son's house (a few miles from where I expect to finally hang my hat). side note to everyone:
I took a gander at the market winners for 2020, and culled out the "special situations". here is what I found:
1) the telecom companies are doing great. esp those that have streaming services.
2) SOME of the food companies are doing well. I think that also makes sense. if you like the sector, PBJ might be a good one to buy right now.
3) consumer staples like paper and cleaning products are also doing quite well.
4) delivery service companies are doing well.
5) grocery stores are doing well.
6) gold is doing well, but miners are underperforming.
I bought some REIT ETF shares on Friday. this Sector was -90% before the stimulus package passed. it is now off "only" about 70% for the year. I have no idea where the dividends in this sector are heading, but I would be shocked if they fell 70%.
