sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Video-Eagles-workers-leave-pile-of-snow-in-gove?urn=nfl-301454Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell lamented that the delay of the Philadelphia Eagles game due to this weekend's blizzard was another example of America turning into a "nation of wussies." On Tuesday night, the staff at Lincoln Financial Field did its best to ensure that Rendell doesn't join the unmanly masses. When Rendell took his front row seat at the team's game against the Minnesota Vikings, he was greeted with a pile of snow and a sign declaring that the seat was for "non-wussies" only. Six hundred workers had spent the previous 48 hours clearing snow out of the stands but managed to leave a little bit for the governor, who had said he would have preferred to have watched the game during the blizzard. LOL, LOL, LOL

wow, that's some oomph. I totally agreed with him on this. I remember a game in Foxboro a few seasons ago, I would have been there had a contact answered the phone to pass along tix (but that's beside the point) but people had to dig out their seats. this was within the last 10 years, have we really sunk this much since then? sad....

Rendell is a HUGE Eagles fan. The sky could be raining fire and he would still make it to a game. Seven inches fell between 8 p.m. and 1 a.m. (Philly got a little over 12 inches total), so it would have been a nightmare for people to have to dig out their cars, the lots, the streets, etc. Philly is pathetic when it comes to snow. The snow clean up was Monday but there were still rail delays due to snow on the tracks. THAT'S our alternative to driving, a transit system that will get you where you need to go, but can't guarantee you'll get home.

Except the issue wasn't "people will have to dig out their seats", the issue was "what happens when the heart of the blizzard is supposed to strike during the game, what if people can't get their cars out, where will they go, what if there are car accidents and people hurt/killed as tens of thousands try to get out of the parking lot". People had to dig out their seats because they got there post-storm. It's easy to clear a parking lot post-storm, not as easy to do when it's full of cars because the heart of the storm hits during the game.

Good joke on Rendell! That wuss probably had his security detail dig out the seat though!
