Peter Alexander asked a very legitimate question at the news conference and Cheeto blew up! Just disgusting!!

The people want to be comforted dear leader, what do you say.
I say you aren't comforting them because you suck.
What the fuck?

Yup, he just can't handle those tough questions. You're not supposed to challenge his authority, you know. I was watching a lot of it, and just shaking my head.

The DJIA reaction to trump's press conference today: down 913.21 closing at 19,173.98. That's below the closing number on January 19, 2017, the day before trump's inauguration (19,804.72.).

Look at how riled up all those democrats got!! He truly deep down cares about us, he was just putting on a show to teach those fake news people a lesson. They deserve to be yelled at for daring to do their job by asking questions and stuff. Their job is only to issue praise of our dear leader's greatness. Isn't that what his die hard supporters will say?

The really sad thing is that the question teed him up for an opportunity to give a hopeful, compassionate, presidential response. It was not a confrontational question. He blew it again.

Exactly... Given to Obama the Right Wing Media would have complained incessantly about 'softball questions'.

The really sad thing is that a reporter has to ask him about Americans being scared. Any other President would have addressed that in their very first press conference about the virus.

I was thinking about this some more.
Maybe Trump was right. The reporter asked Trump a question that only highlighted Trump's personality faults. I seriously believe that there is no way Trump could answer that question without coming off as the uncompassionate, cold, asshat he actually is. He can't say a few polite socially acceptable sentence. Surely, his handlers considered this type of question would come up - and how best to utilize it and how best Trump might answer it.
So, yeah, maybe the reporter was trying to "politicize" the fact that Trump is an asshat by giving Trump the opportunity to look bad by his lack of empathy and inability to offer succor to the American people in this time of fear and uncertainty.
What gets me is that his followers and his administration are OK with Trump being an asshat - they just kind of work around him. What also gets me is that no one tries to make Trump more 'human' nor is there much in the way of promotion for all the good things he might be doing. I'm willing to accept that someone with a deficient personality can do credible, reasonable things. I just mostly see examples of Trump beaming about the dumbfuckery he's accomplished.
The worse part is that Trump going off - did almost exactly what answering the question would have done. I take that back, he might have been better off attempting to say something rehearsed and socially acceptable. I'd be a little bit more compassionate towards him if I felt he was trying to over comer or cope with his faults. The man fully embraces his faults.

The way he goes through them, I have to guess that many are tired of banging their collective heads against the wall in order to improve his optics.

Yeah, at this point, I assume the people who surround him are mostly there to keep him believing he's in charge - while other people make actual decisions.

What bothers me about his recent pressers is his whiny insistence that each state needs to help themselves. Get your own ventilators. Find your own masks and gloves. He just doesn’t get that he’s supposed to be leading the whole nation, pushing for resources and solutions for all of us. Like enacting the federal emergency powers act that would get manufacturers like GM switching over to make ventilators. (Lucky for us, I think one of the car manufacturers volunteered to do that).
Seems like trump is gearing up to start blaming the ‘Chinese ‘ virus on the Chinese and the mayors/ governors - he’s already insisted none of it is his fault.

But that is why he was elected President - so there would be less government and so that States would get LESS government assistance. Isn't that the Republican position - "states rights" -- except when it comes to legislating morality - then everybody in America needs to act like a Christian? Wasn't Trump elected on getting people to stop sucking the Federal government tit? To let people with money keep it (not pay federal taxes) and to not have to support all the lazy ass people who only look for free handouts? You know why they are so against the "entitlements" like food stamps, healthcare, rent subsidies, low income housing, public schools, SS, Medicare, Medicaid, etc And Trump shirked responsibility for the poor US response to the pandemic days ago...

It's behind a pay wall, but I've read other articles about it. I would think the upper management of American International MegaCorp companies with offices in China/HongKong had a "clue" about the possible pandemic potential in January.... I think the MegaCorp's started making "how is this pandemic gonna effect us/our business/our people" in January. even if our Government didn't do much (other than to make sure all the people in power got prepared financially for it - I'm pretty sure they all "put on their mask" on and then did nothing else. )

It was a total softball question. Trump is so stupid he doesn't even know how to recognize an open ended opportunity to say "People of the US - I am here and working for you. We are all working for you, just sit tight, don't watch the news and it will all be okay."
Granted, the news that Trump is working for us is terrifying to like half the country, but it is what he should have said.
