5 mixed messages that have marred the Trump administration’s coronavirus responseThe federal government's response to the novel coronavirus outbreakrepresents a critical test for President Donald Trump and his administration, but some analysts say it's one that has already been marred by a series of mixed messages from the president himself. During a White House briefing with the coronavirus task force on Tuesday, Trump insisted that he "always viewed [the outbreak] as very serious." "I've felt it was a pandemic before it was called a pandemic," he said. "All you had to do was look at other countries." Critics, meanwhile, point to several occasions in which Trump either downplayed the threat of the virus or overstated the government's capacity to mitigate the crisis, leaving some Americans confused at a critical time. Do you think that the colour of one’s skin matters? whether or not I think it does, in real world application, it does. My FIL referred to anyone who liked Obama as a n****r lover, so apparently it mattered to him. I doubt he's the only one. and since 44/45 presidents were older white dude, maybe it's time for someone different? You may want to adjust that number or else define what you call older

Regarding this threads title...did anyone see his rant against the media today..I caught just part of it...and his self praising of himself and taking no responsibility... The man IS a mental case and needs to be removed...would suggest treatment but he would never sit still for that so better to just isolate and leave alone...disconnect his phone so his tweets go no where....LOL As far as the old cliché " N****r lover", best reply IMHO ,{smile} "yup, guess I am " and see the response.

Performing well.... Trump viciously attacks NBC News reporter in extended rant after being asked for message to Americans worried about coronavirus www.cnn.com/2020/03/20/media/trump-rant-at-nbc-news-peter-alexander/index.htmlDon't tell me it's fake news. I watched it unfolding live with my own eyes. What a despicable POS. He's becoming ever more desperate and unhinged....just want you want in a leader during a time of crisis.

Trump has been performing well latelyPerforming well? How so? I see him still slamming the New York Times and the Washington Post, whining that they're fake news and against him, while they report facts. I see him still lying. I see him still bragging about how well he's doing, while the Covid-19 infections just keep going up and up and up. I see him absolving himself of responsibility while telling the states to source their own masks and ventilators. Healthcare workers are forced to use the same masks for days at a time. I see him bragging that he knew this was coming before the WHO deemed this a pandemic, and then turning around and saying the US was blind-sided by this virus, I see him touting the benefits of unproven anti-parasite medications, while Covid-19 is a virus. I still see him standing shoulder to shoulder with people while the experts say they should stand at least three feet apart. By what metric is he doing well? He lied to the American people for over 6 weeks about the severity of this. Basically called it a "nothing burger", hoax by the Democrats and fake media, and that it would go away. . he is still blaming the press....TODAY. TODAY. like.....TODAY.
the day we have 5000 new cases. 2nd only to Italy.
he is a fucking imbecile.

You might want to do a % comparison as we have 350 million people vs Italy's 60 million. Then head out to the beach with the rest of the college kids on spring break. I'll be talking about ignoring global warming and it's effect on future generations while I'm there.

US cases are still going up exponentially.

I was trying to do some math. Does this add up?
In 2018 the flu was considered a bad year. That year in Italy there were ~5 deaths per 100k people. In a country of 60M, that means 3,000 people died during the entire flu season. Meanwhile, they had 3,000 people die in the last month.
Assuming we are a few weeks behind Italy, let's hope it doesn't go the same way, but....
In 2018 the death rate from the flu was closer to 10 deaths per 100k, so 35,000 people. Could we have 35,000 deaths from Covid in one month? How many months is that okay?

Nook at the curves showing out growth. Stories from NY are frightening, have friends there who are working in a disaster zone. My son has a friend who told him they had to put 20 people on a ventilator in one day at Cornell. That is not normal, and it will overwhelm the medical system in our biggest city. Unless we can bend the curve, other big cities will experience the same

dj, Do you have a link? Not arguing, but the Johns Hopkins site is still showing US behind Iran, Germany and Spain it changed again last night.
very fluid situation.
I was referring to ACTIVE cases.
WE ARE IN THIRD THIS MORNING, BEHIND SPAIN AND ITALY.
Italy 47,021 4,032 5,129 37,860 2,655 778 Spain 25,374 +3,803 1,378 +285 2,125 21,871 939 543 USA 22,085 +2,702 282 +26 147 21,656 64 67
so much for 15 cases, soon to be zero, eh?

in countries that don't have control of this, cases are growing 10-30% per DAY.
at that rate, the number of cases doubles every four days or so.
20k turns into 20M in 7 weeks.

I am figuring active cases are the name of the game. first country to get to zero active cases wins. You know we are getting ahead of it when the number dying is greater than the number of new cases. Since the incubation period is up to 2 weeks, some people getting sick now were infected 2 weeks ago. So as long as numbers are going up, we can expect it to get worse. Deaths lag infections because of medical interventions. We can keep sick people alive for a while. One reason Italy’s death rate continues to rise significantly

Every time Trump goes on TV for a Corona virus update, it's nothing but a brag-fest and insults. It does not inspire confidence. They're proposing "distancing", while all being bunched together in front of the camera.
"Tremendous" this, and "tremendous" that, while Americans are dropping like flies. Boasting about how he donates his salary and whining about the mainstream media being so unfair to him.
What a douche-canoe.

During trump's press conference update the other day, trump said something so ridiculous, Dr. Fauci stifled a laugh and facepalmed him.

I'll be talking about ignoring global warming and it's effect on future generations while I'm there. Nice try, but that too would provide a wildly skewed picture. It f you do this, you need to take population density and economic activity into account as well. Compare Italy to places like the SF bay area, Chicago, New York, Boston and on and on. Unless we shut down all travel between places, and we won't nor do I think we should (essentials like food etc. need to move from place to place) this virus will come to all parts of the country and we are nowhere near prepared for it.

North Korea said President Donald Trump sent Kim Jong Un a personal letter in which he expressed his willingness to help with "anti-epidemic work," according to North Korea state-run media KCNA early Sunday. www.cnn.com/2020/03/21/politics/north-korea-trump/index.htmlNooooo! Don't let him help you! Those poor North Koreans have suffered enough!

Well...the OP did say "performing" as in the Trump reality virus show. He didn't say leading, as in using any leadership skills. Which we know, he has none!

Just YESTERDAY Trump retweeted about "Democrat hysteria" ruining the U.S. You know, because the Democrats are responsible for the lying about and downplaying of the virus from the very beginning while senators took the opportunity to their stock. They are also responsible for not being prepared for a pandemic that we were forewarned about months in advance AND for not heeding the warnings that the LITERAL simulations just run in October showed how woefully unprepared we are. Not to mention forcing states to compete against each other for the supplies they need now that the pandemic is here, which could have been prevented if the federal government had done it's job and prepared adequately.
Oh wait a minute. That's not Democrats. That's REPUBLICANS.
