Which we can't afford. And as soon as this crisis is over, Trump and company will start talking again about cutting Social Security and Medicare to help the national debt.

Hopefully he won't be reelected and it will be up to the Dems to again come up with a solution, ala Obama with his stimulus package and saving of US automobile industry's... Will there be raised taxes? Probably and other doings to start paying off debt...long over due...Possible cut in defense spending...who are we defending against? Well possible all those countries the Donald p off but really...why three and four times expenditures of possible enemies? Just saying.

Lisa Simpson had to out in austerity measures after Trump functionally bankrupted the country.
Elizabeth Warren sure looked a lot like an adult Lisa Simpson.

I have a friend who is constantly complaining about socialism on FB, and the government giving taxpayers' money to worthless spongers. Yesterday, she posted asking how her daughter could get benefits because she is not allowed to work right now.

If we get this proposed stimulus, will it be taxed as regular income for this year? Or bonus?
Curious minds are asking.

Anyone else thinking this may be a way for Trump to "buy" votes? Yes. He operates from the Democratic Party playbook daily. He was a Democrat after all.

Where I see the problem is that there is no evidence that President Trump has an adequate knowledge base in most areas from which to process. Nor does he appear to work to gain it. I consider his recent comment about the malaria medicine as a great example. He "feels" it is a "game changer" because he is a "smart guy". Other people who are also smart and have a knowledge base are to whom the President should defer. He is not smart enough to realize that fact.

The likelihood that medicine makes a significant difference is near zero in my opinion. It has no antiviral effect. It works as an anti-inflammatory agent. It is being used for people with severe lung injury. This has been tried on repeatedly in these instances and has never been shown th work. May be different in this case, but I doubt it. There is no magic bullet. A treatment that has a significant impact on this should not be anticipated before the end of the year. Physicians are used to giving bad news, and one thing we are taught is not to give false hope. He is still doing that. It does not help to come up with a rational game plan. Problem solving is what is needed, not having smoke blown up our rear end

the longer we fail to change our behavior, the greater the chance we will get it.

Anyone else thinking this may be a way for Trump to "buy" votes? The senate as well. This is an election year after all. The campaign ads will all feature that “they voted to give us money, so remember that at the ballot box”. Yes, I am cynical about this.

If we get this proposed stimulus, will it be taxed as regular income for this year? Or bonus? Curious minds are asking. I've seen a couple different ideas thrown around. 1) Tax free. 2) Gift, so taxed as income. 3) Advance against your future refund (if you would normally get a $1000 refund at tax time and get a $1000 check, you'd get $0 refund instead). I would imagine if you normally either break even or pay at tax time, you'd end up having to pay it back in this scenario.

I figure advance against future refund. And his dummy followers won't realize it till after the next election.
They will be screwed but to late to do anything about it.

You don't know much about the stock market. markets hate uncertainty. the less certain he is, the poorer the market behaves.
he is actually pretty certain most of the time. the only problem is that he becomes certain about positions that directly contradict his earlier positions with increasing rapidity. and yeah, I think that drives markets crazy.
