I'm not stocking up on anything in particular. I did buy a 3 lb bag of shredded cheese instead of the 1 lb. But that was because I figured we'd be cooking more taco meals for the kids.

Went to the store Tuesday for a couple of non-necessary items. While passing the fresh meat area, everything was gone but for fresh pork items like chops and loins. No beef, chicken, or turkey. But plenty of pork. Found that interesting. Are people thinking pork has something to do with the virus? Maybe a local myth here? I don't know. Chinese year of the pig I have no clue!!

Do you think we should form a diet pepsi underground network just in case
LOL Problem is, old Diet Pepsi can get NASTY. If this goes on for years we might have to <gasp> QUIT.

By then I will have figured out the formula and be making it in the back yard/woods ala moonshine. So be sure to keep in touch

I haven't done groceries in over a week and can go at least another week or more without needing anything and only veggies and some meat.
I stocked up on veggies that keep-carrots, squash, romaine lettuce, potatoes and celery. DD and her boyfriend have augmented a bit with tomatoes and other perishable veggies.
I already had plenty of canned tomatoes and pasta. A few cans of tuna. A few pounds of rice. Barbecue sauce. Salad dressing. Canned pineapple. Dried milk, evaporated milk and condensed milk. The spice cabinet and baking supplies are overflowing as usual. I make just about everything from scratch and like to have what I need whatever I feel like making. I have a feeling that I'll be doing a lot of bread baking in the near future.
As the bakery was closing down for the foreseeable future I got flour, some bread, some cookie dough and heavy cream. I can always go back and get more supplies if needed. The upside of working for a small family business.
We're in good shape.
ETA: There was a sale on my favorite rum a couple of months ago. I make rum buckets for everyone (25 people) when we vacation in the summer. So I have 10 bottles of rum to take the sting out of quarantine if it comes down to it. Two full canisters for the soda stream. We are good for the go.

The good Lord only knows what might be getting mixed in with any pork products. If you buy anything, cook it well!

I'm not really stocking up on food more than I normally do. I already have about 150 pounds of meat in the freezer and lots of potatoes and rice, so we can live off of that fine if we can't get anything else. The animals concern me more. I have a feeling there will be availability to people food for a lot longer than pet. So, I bought 5 tubs of cat litter recently and have more cat food and grain than normal. Not a tremendous amount, but probably 6 weeks worth. Thinking of maybe buying a couple more bags of grain to add another month to that, but really in a worst case scenario they don't need grain and could get by with just hay....which I have over a year's worth.
Do you think we should form a diet pepsi underground network just in case Honestly I'm not stockpiling anything since just me. I have a freezer full of seafood (not meat, poultry eater) so no problem there. Stores here seem to have plenty of fresh veggies so far. Son and I planted bunch of veggies Saturday (it's an annual thing for last 10 plus years not a reaction to ongoing virus scare)
I can see where your animals would be a concern but you seem to have it under control.
Heck yes on the diet Pepsi underground! I can't drink coffee anymore, so that's how I caffeine up in the morning.

Cat food and litter.
I'm vegetarian so no concerns about meat.
I did buy some non perishables that will be easy to cook if I get sick.

Living 20 miles from the nearest grocery store means that we are stocked on everything at all times. I am the only person in this house (me, DH, DD21, DS18) who ever steps foot in a grocery store and I refuse to make a run because we are out of something. Here, when you OPEN the last jar of peanut butter it goes on the list and gets restocked within a few days. System works 99.9%, the .1% it fails - too bad so sad.
The only thing we bought this week was new washer/dryer. OUCH.
ETA: Also helps that DH hunts, so we have 2 freezers to stock full of meats, breads, etc.

Sent my poor mom to Aldi with a long list and told to just get what she can. She got about half of it. I'll trying and get the rest this weekend. Still better than the luck I was having before. Maybe the hoarding is starting to subside so the rest of us can get essentials.

With huge ass cuts DH has brought home before I usually let it thaw just enough that I can handle it and then wrap it up to put back in the freezer. We haven't had any problems. Just don't let it all thaw completely. At a 10 lb block you'd have to let it sit for a pretty long time before it gets to the danger zone temperature wise. Thanks. It was a solid brick! I left it in the fridge overnight and this morning it was still frozen, but thawed enough that I could rip pieces of it off and put them into individual freezer bags.

I think someone said there was a myth about the virus being transmitted through pork that conservative conspiracy theorists were believing. I can't remember what thread it was on though. There are so many about this virus that it's hard to keep them all straight.

I’m in pretty good shape. I will try and replace chicken, beef, and fish as we go because veggie garden season is almost here.

We had eaten down the house and were low on supplies for everything when we get back from South America. So since the middle of Jan, I have had several major shopping trips to restock. I had one $400 Costco shopping trip, which restocked up cleaning products and meats, and a smaller $200 trip.
Last stop was cat and dog food, and I bought large bags of each. We will probably need dog food first though. Cat litter, I buy on sale at Costco, but we have 4 x 40lb bags in the garage and a half filled bag downstairs. I may see what is necessary to get Chewy to deliver food, but pet food I really do prefer to buy from the local independent dealers. Worst case, I can get it from the vet. More money, but still supporting local small businesses.
These days, my biggest purchases have been on the number of books I have downloaded to my Kindle. I think I’m doing a little hoarding there!
ETA: we are stocked for the next 20 years in alcohol! Last year at one of the auctions, we bid on and won 5 cases of wine. That is in addition to what we already had. I’m almost embarrassed at the excesses we have there!

Out here in Washington County it's not allowed. In a worst case, I can make my way into West Virginia, where the grocery stores sell wine and beer, but I would probably just stay home and do without.

I have about three months worth of cat food, but the third month would be older cans of flavors that my cat previously rejected.

Beer and wine sold in grocery stores here. Not sure about wine but beer sold in service stations too. Don’t drink either but there for gas up and beer run. Hard liquor sold liquor stores!

It is by county. I didn't realize it is only allowed in 4 counties. I had to look it up. So you can stop here, in Talbot, on your way to Ocean City and restock there. In OC gas stations also sell beer.

I told my daughter that my closet looks like a convenience store since I am storing several 12-packs of beer in there. I gave away most of the hard liquor after DH died because I don't drink it. I kept the champagne and tequila. So on the day the world officially ends, I will be on the deck drinking either a margarita or a mimosa. I haven't decided which yet.

I grabbed an extra bag of cat food last week just to make sure they cats are set for the next few months. As far as food goes we have our normal stuff as I always have perishable goods in the pantry and meats in the freezer. Admittedly I did buy a few extra things of pasta but I made sure they weren't the last ones left and I got these later in the day from stores that had been open for hours. When TP is on sale we usually load up on it so we had some before all the panic buying started and won't need any for at least a month. I don't want to panic buy and take things away from people who don't have as much. One of my friends I'm almost curious to ask because he and his wife don't usually have much food at home as they eat out a lot. I imagine people like them are the ones who did a lot of panic buying or we can call it cabinet filling because they didn't have anything to fall back on. I've had luck going to different stores getting various items with the one caveat being eggs which I either need to get in line when a store opens or find some back alley deal to get some. I've been told Trader Joe's locally has been able to replenish their shelves so I may go today just to check it out and if needed I'll get there before they open in the next week to get anything they're currently out of.

We have plenty of booze. DH hit the liquor store to buy his beer the day they announced liquor stores in PA would close. We have lots of snacks. And a case of toilet paper. I bought more eggs since we are home and DH is eating eggs for breakfast.
I try not to run out of stuff anyway. I don't want to have to go to the store because we need x for dinner.

Absolutely nothing else. I've got about two months of supplies and I work in a grocery store. I don't need more supplies and walking through the ransacked non-perishable aisles freaks me out.
I know that we are getting more trucks than ever. I know that most of the general merchandising team has been pushed or lured into stocking non-perishables. I know that the calories are being shipped and that there are plenty more in warehouses. And yet, seeing those shelves does something unpleasant to me.

Walmart was completely out of TP & paper towels, even 15 minutes or so after opening for the day. I noticed they were busy stocking the wine & beer section. If you can't get TP, you might as well drink.

I'm not seeing the end of this hoarding mentality any time soon. A friend who works at Sam's Club posted this morning there were 300 people waiting outside before they opened. Similar to daisylu , we live 20 minutes away from the nearest grocery store, so we tend to stay stocked up on most things. The issue this month was it had been several months since we made a Sam's Club trip, so our canned goods were quite low. While there Saturday, I didn't buy anything out of the ordinary (tuna, coffee, Gatorade Zero, baggies, Dawn, tea bags, olives, mayo, dried apricots). We also keep extra deodorant, soap, allergy pills, etc. on hand. Last year I was on an Amazon stock-up kick for awhile and thankfully bought a few 12 packs of TP, one of which we have left. We bought 1/4 pig and 1/4 cow last year, so our extra freezer is full of protein. What does have me concerned is eggs. When I went to the grocery store Tuesday morning, the bin was completely empty. There was a sign saying they only get so many delivered each day. We go through about 18 per week as I boil them for breakfasts and snacks. I told DH I am going to stop doing that for awhile, as we'll need to ration eggs if I have to start baking if things get REALLY bad. I checked with a friend who has access to fresh eggs, and she said they haven't had any for quite some time.
Tuesday I asked the gals at the liquor store if there had been any talk of closures. They said not yet, and only one distributor stopped delivering, as the drivers had been exposed to a county with a large amount of folks testing positive. I'll order another 3 months of RX, and ensure the gas tank is full. Good times. ETA: I did have the water delivery guy leave an extra 5 gallon jug here at the office, just in case we need it at home.
