I wonder how many months of food we have back in warehouses? Like I said I got some items the other day that were dated 2023, that is out there, so concerning. This is not the growing season and everything else is just in time, so do we really have a lot of food? I wonder. My garden will be going out, no push back from hubs! Also read an article that said we are not letting Hispanic migrant workers in. Man, we are cutting off our noses to spite our faces. He could end up creating horrible shortages, what a mess. I noted a lot of people at our local Walmart, did not stop, also a line at McD's. The grocery didn't look very busy, have no idea if they have food or not. I guess people have forgotten how to cook. I saw our local Chinese buffet was closed today. I didn't look at the other restaurants but our nearby town looked VERY dead. It won't take much to kill it off. I am not much of a germaphobe, but you couldn't pay me enough to eat at a buffet right now, even if you could find one that is open!

I already have, just a way of life from how I grew up. But I didn't even realize we no longer had reserves, damn. We could be in for a bad way. Read that article, its scary.
Hubs was telling me NO garden this year. I told him I was planting one, no disagreement from him. He has been listening to me lately. We are also being careful, I told he and DD, no wasting food. We will use it up. I did throw away a bit of mashed potatoes tonight, I told hubs, that would have made 2 potato pancakes. I need to think carefully.
Also went to 1 load in the dishwasher per day, and a load of dark clothes and one of white. If this is still on and as it warms up, will use my wringer washer instead. That will save a lot of soap. Growing up we were careful, need to do that again.
I am still researching sergers, I hate to give $1400 for one, my 40 year old one was a demonstrator for $250, but it is horrible to thread and will not sew knits. A lot of money, I have a very good Memory Craft professional, probably 12 years old now?? I traded in a machine and still paid, hum, $1400 or something for it. But it sews knits and has a walking foot with differential feed so its good. I want one that has the jet air threading. It blows the threads through all the intricate manipulations to thread one. Ok, back at it.

Hi GRG! I am quietly reading. I rarely post. My mind has been all over the place with what is going on to all of us here in the US and to the rest of the world. It feels very surreal to go to the supermarket and have shelves be empty of items that were were always fully stocked before. It feels like the day before a major holiday when you have to pick up the one forgotten essential item but all the stores were picked clean of the same item. I am very lucky though to have a lot of stores to pick from to get my groceries. I live in city that is densely packed with every imaginable type of store. Chinese, Korean, Italian, Greek, Indian markets near home and work. I am considered an essential worker so have been driving to work with no traffic on NYC highways with no traffic on weekdays (feels like Sunday morning commute). The other time that traffic felt like this was after 9/11 when I would drive over the Williamsburg Bridge to get to my command. Let me tell you that the feeling of not seeing the twin towers every morning had that surreal feeling. Just off. So I come to these boards on my down time to catch up with all of you. Hearing the good news, some not so good news and the funny things some of you post has been my therapy through the years. (I do skip all the political posts though )
