Not to worry. Trump has said he knows more then any of them and the generals. Look how well he's done with Putin and Kim Jong-un.

'USA Intelligence' under trump is sorely lacking. , I believe we are at the point where it is going to be referred to as a contradiction in terms.

William McRaven: If good men like Joe Maguire can’t speak the truth, we should be deeply afraidWilliam H. McRaven, a retired Navy admiral, was commander of the U.S. Special Operations Command from 2011 to 2014. He oversaw the 2011 Navy SEAL raid in Pakistan that killed Osama bin Laden.Edmund Burke, the Irish statesman and philosopher, once said: “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” Over the course of the past three years, I have watched good men and women, friends of mine, come and go in the Trump administration — all trying to do something — all trying to do their best. Jim Mattis, John Kelly, H.R. McMaster, Sue Gordon, Dan Coats and, now, Joe Maguire, who until this week was the acting director of national intelligence. I have known Joe for more than 40 years. There is no better officer, no better man and no greater patriot. He served for 36 years as a Navy SEAL. In 2004, he was promoted to the rank of rear admiral and was chosen to command all of Naval Special Warfare, including the SEALs. Those were dark days for the SEALs. Our combat losses from wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were the highest in our history, and Joe and his wife, Kathy, attended every SEAL funeral, providing comfort and solace to the families of the fallen. But it didn’t stop there. Not a day went by that the Maguires didn’t reach out to some Gold Star family, some wounded SEAL, some struggling warrior. Every loss was personal, every family precious. When Joe retired in 2010, he tried the corporate world. But his passion for the Special Operations soldiers was so deep that he left a lucrative job and took the position as the president of the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, a charity that pays for educating the children of fallen warriors. To William McRaven I would say that quoting Burke after three years of this nonsense is being a little slow on the uptake. And, unless he does more than just write an opinion piece, he should consider himself as one of the men and women who stood by and did nothing. IMO that would make him indifferent to what his relative silence causes at best

This must be what it was like watching the Roman Empire fall.

This must be what it was like watching the Roman Empire fall. Except we have a much better view and our citizens do have the power to stop it. Unfortunately the GOP is all in with renominating Trump. We will see what the Democrats offer as an alternative.

Trump is attempting to silence the people whose job is to speak truth to power because he doesn’t want Americans to know what the Russians are really doing. Without our Intel community, how can we protect ourselves? Who will keep Russia in check? How many good experienced operatives are we going to lose? Putin must be laughing his ass off.

Who will keep trump in check too. I posted the below on another thread. Applies to your above comments. Our paranoid 'president' has begun The Purge': Trump embarks on expansive search for disloyalty as administration-wide purge escalatesPresident Trump has instructed his White House to identify and force out officials across his administration who are not seen as sufficiently loyal, a post-impeachment escalation that administration officials say reflects a new phase of a campaign of retribution and restructuring ahead of the November election. Johnny McEntee, Trump’s former personal aide who now leads the effort as director of presidential personnel, has begun combing through various agencies with a mandate from the president to oust or sideline political appointees who have not proved their loyalty, according to several administration officials and others familiar with the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations. The push comes in the aftermath of an impeachment process in which several members of Trump’s administration provided damning testimony about his behavior with regard to Ukraine. The stream of officials publicly criticizing Trump’s actions frustrated the president and caused him to fixate on cleaning house after his acquittal this month. “We want bad people out of our government!” Trump tweeted Feb. 13, kicking off a tumultuous stretch of firings, resignations, controversial appointments and private skirmishes that have since spilled into public view. Article here: Trump embarks on expansive search for disloyalty as administration-wide purge escalatesIt would be nice to know trump's definition of "sufficiently loyal".

And, unless he does more than just write an opinion piece, he should consider himself as one of the men and women who stood by and did nothing. IMO that would make him indifferent to what his relative silence causes at best Help me out here...what was he and others who had concerns do? Assassination is a no, no....Beyond speaking out and if a criticism then they are out of a job..I am sure many feel by staying in the assigned positions they can hold off the wrong decisions as best they can but after a while Trump fires or replaces them and he has no concerns if they are needed . The Germans did a great job of misinformation with the top military officers of the Soviet Union..Stalin bought into their misinformation 100% and either murdered his most experienced military folks or sent them to Siberian prison camps...When Germany invaded the Soviets the Barbarossa campaign, there were few qualified top military folks left,,,Soviets lost big time...U don't train most experienced staff officers who control millions over night.. With all the replacements by the Donald of the most qualified because of his gut feelings or worse..I am sure the Russian leadership is keeping count...probably the Chinese too... My longtime best friend and his wife dropped in for a visit last week. His son in law is with the State department..about six years now...he is in charge of a desk of a European country{no, won't say} Is unbelievable bright...My friends daughter is a lawyer, also working for the State Department...very, very , very bright and sharp...has been offered many six figure jobs but is working for State...with husband. Friend told me...man gets another term, both may leave.. Now before u say let em go...these are very bright people, highly skilled , both can earn much more in private practice...yet love public service, but this is the feeling of many of their peers too...and yet the Donald cares little about keeping such people working for the country.. Is suspicious of the whole bunch of them because they , in his mind, are not willing to kiss his butt in reverence. Seems to be the feeling of so many of our top military commanders too. ------------------------------------------- Enough about trolls. You folks are fully capable of using your individual discernment and the block function to meet your needs. This dart throwing is to stop. mmhmm, Administrator

I hope the good people stay, I know it has to be an impossible job but hopefully they can help keep the government from totally imploding.

Nope. Trump's got people making lists of 'deep state' (which means, anyone who hasn't fawned over him lately) federal employees that he's getting ready to purge. If he gets elected, it'll just be him, his kids, Jared Kushner and a handful of toadies trying to run the country from the WH, as we go to hell, our hand basket in screaming flames.

The original deep state conspiracy was McCarthy. How have we not learned anything? The good news, is that it will pass. I just hope it doesn't do irreparable damage before then.

I think it is rather terrifying. So even if we manage to elect a Democrat, the only ones left in Federal Positions are Trump Loayalists - so we force the rest of the Federal staff out and hire all new people? No one in the federal Gov't then has any experience.
Putin is Laughing his ass off right now.
