Does anyone have references for small group international travel? My Spanish class is looking for a trip to Spain in 2021. I used to get brochures from travel agents that offered guided travel but it's been years; and I don't recall the names. I appreciate advice on any companies I can research. I might check with the local university to see if we could join in one of their travel groups. I also thought about missions work but I know my H. would not go for that.

I have been to Costa Rica with Roads Scholar and was very impressed. Their travel philosophy would probably work well for a class trip.
We have friends that swear by O.A.T. I do think that clientele skews older for both of them.

What is a "small group"? 12? 24? less?

Thanks, lynnerself. The small group would be about 12.

I looked for Roads Scholar and got truck driving. Can you give me a link? Thanks. And O.A.T.com doesn't work.

My in laws have used Tauck. They offer some small group tours in addition to larger ones. They had several Spain itineraries in the last catalog I saw. They are not cheap but it's worthwhile.
My aunt used Go Ahead tours when they went to Germany. They are based out of Boston and it looks like they do smaller tours as well.

Thanks, wvugurl26. I will make a note and check those out. We are tentatively planning for Spring 2021. In some ways, I think it might be easier to book with a local travel agent. Probably won't be cheaper. Then, on the other hand, do I really want to travel so close to the middle east?

I looked up some travel groups on mythreecents.com. Wow was that an eye opener. I will continue checking.

DH and I like Ricksteves.com - he does a european travel show on PBS. His web site has links for group travel, but we like to get his books and plan our own trips. He covers transpiration, hotel recommendations, restaurant recommendations, and site seeing tips. His site also has message boards where you can post questions. DH successfully booked hotel rooms and train tickets from Paris to Brussels to Brugge and down to Ambois using Steve's book.

No reason you can’t use Rick Steves’ guides, get a local travel agent to do all the booking for you. DH and I mostly travel independently, but for Europe, the RS guides are indispensable
