trump has learned nothing. Why am I not surprised. Trump says what he learned from impeachment is that 'Democrats are crooked'
President Trump told reporters Wednesday that he learned from his impeachment that Democrats are “crooked” and “vicious.” Trump was asked by reporters in the Oval Office what he had learned from his impeachment by the Democrat-controlled House. “That the Democrats are crooked,” Trump replied. “They’ve got a lot of crooked things going, that they’re vicious, that they shouldn’t have brought impeachment and that my poll numbers are 10 points higher because of fake news like NBC.”Complete article here: Trump says what he learned from impeachment is that 'Democrats are crooked'a lie from beginning to end, including "and" and "of".

So when is John Brennan going to jail for lying to the Congress?? Or is this only reserved for people associated with Trump?
You tell us. President Trump had the House his first two years. Now....think really hard, why do you think they are not all locked up.

Memphis woman, head juror in Roger Stone trial, stands up for prosecutorsFormer Memphis schools board member Tomeka Hart is speaking out about her role on the jury that found Roger Stone, an ally of President Trump, guilty of lying to Congress and obstructing an investigation into Russia to protect Trump and his presidential campaign. Hart was the foreperson, or head juror, for the November 2019 trial. She spoke up about her experience in support of the four attorneys who recently quit the prosecution team after the Justice Department, in an unusual move, backed away from the stiff prison sentence recommended for Stone. “I want to stand up for Aaron Zelinky, Adam Jed, Michael Marando, and Jonathan Kravis – the prosecutors on the Roger Stone trial," Hart wrote. "It pains me to see the DOJ now interfere with the hard work of the prosecutors. They acted with the utmost intelligence, integrity, and respect for our system of justice.” Complete article here: Memphis woman, head juror in Roger Stone trial, stands up for prosecutors

Senate Democrats Demand Barr Resign Or Face Impeachment Over Roger Stone CaseSenate Democrats have called on Attorney General William Barr to resign or face impeachment after President Donald Trump appeared to confirm that Barr had intervened in the case against the president’s longtime friend Roger Stone. “Donald Trump is shredding the rule of law in this country,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) tweeted Wednesday. “Congress must act immediately to rein in our lawless Attorney General. Barr should resign or face impeachment.” Sen. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, another Democrat, told NBC News earlier in the day that he believes Barr has “no choice” but to resign. “He’s acting simply as a henchman of the president,” Blumenthal said. I really don’t understand why The Impeached got his undies all in a wad over this. All he had to do was wait for the sentence tben pardon his old pal.
Either he miscalculated the political capital or he’s arrogant enough to think he can do whatever he wants without consequences.

Either he miscalculated the political capital or he’s arrogant enough to think he can do whatever he wants without consequences. He announces that the sentencing recommendation was too harsh. If the judge gives out anything close to it, he corrects the injustice by issuing a pardon. His actions make sense to me. Don't agree with them, but they make sense.

The damage has already been done. New York Times article. Behind a paywall for some. After Trump’s Attacks on Justice Dept., Barr Says He Will Not ‘Be Bullied’The attorney general said that the president’s attacks on prosecutors’ handling of his friend Roger Stone’s sentencing undermine the legal system and the Justice Department. WASHINGTON — In an extraordinary rebuke of President Trump, Attorney General William P. Barr said on Thursday that Mr. Trump’s attacks on the Justice Department had made it “impossible for me to do my job” and asserted that “I’m not going to be bullied or influenced by anybody.” Mr. Barr has been among the president’s most loyal allies and denigrated by Democrats as nothing more than his personal lawyer but publicly challenged Mr. Trump in a way that no other sitting cabinet member has. “I’m not going to be bullied or influenced by anybody,” Mr. Barr said in an interview with ABC News. “And I said, whether it’s Congress, newspaper editorial board, or the president, I’m going to do what I think is right. I cannot do my job here at the department with a constant background commentary that undercuts me.” Mr. Barr’s remarks were aimed at containing the fallout from the department’s botched handling of its sentencing recommendation for Mr. Trump’s longtime friend Roger J. Stone Jr., who was convicted of seven felonies in a bid to obstruct a congressional investigation that threatened the president. Mr. Trump’s criticisms “make it impossible for me to do my job and to assure the courts and the prosecutors in the department that we’re doing our work with integrity,” Mr. Barr said. He added, “It’s time to stop the tweeting about Department of Justice criminal cases.” Complete article here: After Trump’s Attacks on Justice Dept., Barr Says He Will Not ‘Be Bullied’

Roger Stone case: chief justice urged to step in as Trump's 'abuse of power' condemnedDemocrats call on John Roberts to intervene to protect judge DoJ lawyer quits after Trump pulls nomination for treasury job The scandal embroiling the White House and US justice department in the case of Donald Trump’s former confidant Roger Stone deepened on Thursday as senior Democrats condemned an “abuse of power” by the president and called for the chief justice of the supreme court to intervene to protect the judge in the case. And a senior law enforcement official quit after her oversight of the prosecution of Stone cost her a top job at the treasury, CNN reported on Thursday. The abrupt resignation of Jessie Liu, who previously led the US attorney’s office in Washington, poured fresh fuel on a political fire lit by the president’s perceived interference at the justice department. While Trump continued to deny wrongdoing, Democrats urged the chief justice, John Roberts, to defend the independence of the judicial branch from the president’s continued attacks. Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut tweeted: “Convince me that what Trump has done since the impeachment vote isn’t worse than what he did to warrant impeachment. Like we warned, acquittal has turned out to be a green light for him to take a wrecking ball to democracy.” Complete article here: Roger Stone case: chief justice urged to step in as Trump's 'abuse of power' condemned

Barr's got an appointment to testify about this to congress next month, I think you could be right about him conspiring with Trump to make it appear that he's pushing back against Trump and remaining an independent person. A little too late to try, but they probably figured it was worth a shot.

I think its going to get worse and worse. Hubs thinks finally even the repubs will get enough of it. I just don't, I fear what more he is going to do. He has filled all the offices with corrupt people all the way to the top. I think he is dumb, but man he knows every crooked, devious way of doing things. And on top of it, he is evil. If he acts this way as the President where every breath and passed wind is scrutinized...u can imagine how he acted as a private business person...I am sure many of those he did business with were aware and acted accordingly to protect them selves...

Say the man who kisses the ass of The Impeached Is it possible trump told Barr to 'turn' on him and trump would take the heat? It's possible. This all needs to be investigated by Congress. Attorney general Bill Barr gets an ethics complaint for Valentine’s Day
Today, he became the subject of a complaint to the Office of the Inspector General (OIG). The government watchdog Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) is requesting an investigation into Barr’s alleged violations of Justice Department (DOJ) rules and ethical conduct standards for executive branch employees. Barr came under fire Tuesday after career prosecutors withdrew from the Roger Stone case, following president Donald Trump’s tweets disparaging their sentencing recommendations. The proposed punishment for Trump’s associate was within statutory guidelines, yet the DOJ subsequently filed a new sentencing memo with a reduced recommended sentence, claiming the action was unrelated to the president’s sentiments (meanwhile, an emboldened Trump suggested that the prosecutors doing their jobs had gone “rogue”). So, some question whether Barr really needs the president to stop tweeting because he’s sincerely interested in the DOJ’s integrity as the nation’s chief law enforcement officer. Perhaps, in fact, his real complaint is that he can’t act as Trump’s puppet if the president discloses his desires on social media and exposes Barr’s role in making those wishes his command. “It sure looks like what he really meant was that it’s hard to keep acting to protect the president instead of enforce the law when Trump keeps saying the quiet part out loud,” CREW spokesman Jordan Libowitz told Quartz today. “He should be judged by his actions, and his actions harm the integrity of the Department of Justice.” Complete article here: Attorney general Bill Barr gets an ethics complaint for Valentine’s Day

Either he miscalculated the political capital or he’s arrogant enough to think he can do whatever he wants without consequences. If I had to guess (and I don't know a ton about Presidential pardons) I'd guess Trump didn't want to fully pardon him so he was making it clear that he thought the sentence was too severe...and so if the sentence was reduced to what he thought was more reasonable...he could let the sentence go without issuing him a full pardon and release. I'm guessing it's posturing/signaling based on the rather cut-and-dry pardon which doesn't provide a lot of wiggle room for things like reducing to a reasonable punishment, just no pardon or off scott free.

technically, pardoning is not supposed to "spring" people, but clean up their records.
Trump, of course, doesn't care about the technicalities.

Deplorable. The 'man' needs to be stopped. Dems tried...GOP no help beyond Romney....need change in Senate in 2020, keep hpuse. Naturally to change the executive too though that is not going to be easy...If that doesn't happen, then what we get for next four years is on our own head...The Donald believe all happiness boils down to the accumulating of mucho $ and can't understand it when others don't feel same way. Good example is his peace plan with the Palastinian...the mystical $50 Billion...{where it's coming from I don't understand} should solve all their problems..{Palestinians}
