Trump planning to divert additional $7.2 billion in Pentagon funds for border wallPresident Trump is preparing to divert an additional $7.2 billion in Pentagon funding for border wall construction this year, five times what Congress authorized him to spend on the project in the 2020 budget, according to internal planning figures obtained by The Washington Post. The Pentagon funds would be extracted, for the second year in a row, from military construction projects and counternarcotics funding. According to the plans, the funding would give the government enough money to complete about 885 miles of new fencing by spring 2022, far more than the 509 miles the administration has slated for the U.S. border with Mexico. Trump took $2.5 billion from military counterdrug programs for border barrier construction in 2019, but this year his administration is planning to take significantly more — $3.5 billion. Trump administration officials also are planning to take $3.7 billion in military construction funding, slightly more than the $3.6 billion diverted in 2019. I feel like Trump's base is oddly quiet about this. I'm not sure what they say when two priorities clash. Maybe they don't know what to think?

need of a Congress...he knows what he wants and by hook or crook will find a way to get it..I always thought Congress controlled the nations purse strings...and to just take $ from one project and spend it some where else with out talks and decisions by both the congressional and electoral branches was a no, no...Doesn't seem that way anymore...Seems the Donald is taking $7.2 Billion from defense department and spending it on the wall... ------------------------------------- Trump wall Reuters/Kevin Lamarque "The Trump administration is preparing to divert $7.2 billion from the Pentagon's budget to fund the president's US-Mexico border wall this year, according to a Washington Post report published Monday. The reported figure is five times greater than $1.4 billion Congress allotted for the project in the 2019 and 2020 federal budget. The new plan suggests the administration will increase the amount taken from military construction projects to $3.7 billion." ------------------------------------------------------------ www.yahoo.com/news/trump-reportedly-plans-divert-more-033318723.html

Of all the GOP Senatorial cow towing to all things trump, this one probably amazes me the most. Have they no sense of institutional duty, pride or preservation? Not as long as they don't upset the base so they get those votes....they want to retain power...that is their main goal, and then convert the country to their way of thinking...which is NOT the majority thinking. We need to stop them at the ballot box in Nov.!

No. My conservative Representative voted against his emergency declaration based on institutional duty. She has been sounding a bit more moderate these days. So much so that I am wondering if she will be running for the US Senate in 2022?

OK, so if we're diverting all this money from the Pentagon, how are we now supposed to pay for the various military thingies going on?

My conservative leader was not happy the last time funds got diverted. Mitch McConnell Suddenly On Thin Ice After Trump Pulls Funds From Kentucky Military School To Pay For Wall While it’s nice to see at least a shred of human decency out of the Trump sycophant, it is worth noting that it was McConnell himself who helped ensure that Trump would be able to do exactly this when the Kentucky Republican voted in favor of Donald’s national security declaration back in March. Also, notably, Mitch doesn’t appear to care about any other schools that have had their funding yanked for the vanity wall — just the one in his own state, that will no doubt be built by contractors he knows well. politicaldig.com/mitch-mcconnell-suddenly-on-thin-ice-after-trump-pulls-funds-from-kentucky-military-school-to-pay-for-wall/

OK, so if we're diverting all this money from the Pentagon, how are we now supposed to pay for the various military thingies going on? You mean like this:
"WASHINGTON – The U.S. Navy’s top officer said his service must have a larger percentage of the Defense Department’s budget if it’s going to grow the force and execute the strategy laid out by the Trump administration.
Adm. Michael Gilday, the chief of naval operations, said in a speech at the annual Surface Navy Association symposium that the cost of the new Columbia-class ballistic missile submarine was eating a disproportionate share of the shipbuilding budget, and that even a minor single percentage realignment would make a difference. …"

Deficits, if you didn't care under Obama, I don't care now. No infrastructure spending, you have to be kidding, here in AZ there are Government funded projects everywhere. Sorry to see your leaders missed out. Tax cuts worked for me, I got a nice refund, Maybe you need a better accountant. We can pay here or we can pay there, no credits, the cost of oil products goes up! how about $10 a gallon gas? NK, When they did not want to play marbles, Trump picked up the "ol" marble bag , came home,, unlike the Clinton and Obama, tried to buy their way into a deal,, sure did not work! Billions $$$$ wasted! Iran,,, Woooo Hooooo, Trump took out like the # 2 man, very little retaliation, then they screwed up big time blowing the plane out of the air,, Trump won this big time!! Here is how you can tell, last week, Trump is going to get us all killed ,,, this week,, any one see the debate,, All of America,,, nope, who was in it?? Climate Change, when are you going to figure out it is only weather!! Military spending great,, since some of it is going to build that wall!!
