brunch was super late today, and I'm still full. I mixed up a quick bruschetta with a tomato that was on its way out. if I get hungry later, I'll boil some pasta and toss it in. if not, breakfast tomorrow will be bruschetta toast. 🤷♀️

I did homemade Italian wedding soup, a chopped Italian salad, and buttered crusty baguette. Pretty darn yummy!

How do y'all store recipes?
Books? Online? Box? Never use one?

I've got a bookmarks folder in my browser for online links, and a 3-ring binder for paper copies. I slide them into clear oversheets. that binder lives on the same shelf as actual cookbooks

I have some 3 ring binders with printed recipes. I need to go through them and get rid of duplicates and ones I'm never going to use. They are in clear sheets as chiver mentioned. Duplicates were caused by the years before I moved in to DH's house. The ones that get used a ton don't quite make it back to the binder and live on top of the microwave. Binders live on the bottom shelf of a cart on far end of dining area. Some books are in a basket by the cart and others are on bookshelf in living room.
I do love the printed ones for more complicated stuff I tape them up on a cabinet while I'm making it. I don't really care about the cabinets and we are gutting the kitchen in the future. Probably wouldn't do that with new ones. But then I'll have sufficient counter space to have a recipe stand. Online they are saved to my pinterest board. I should really print some of them I use a lot.

What we aren't having is stuffed peppers and yellow squash for supper as planned because DGS was at a trampoline park with friends last night and had a problem. Seems one of his friends accidentally kicked him in the face. It's bad. Four facial fractures and "demolished" nose. That's the word the surgeon used. Surgery is scheduled for 5:30 or maybe a little later. Fortunately, his teeth were spared.
Maybe we'll have tonight's supper tomorrow instead.

yikes. tonight I'm ordering Chinese takeout, I decided earlier. sauteed baby bok choy, rice noodles, and maybe some chicken teriyaki for a little protein. there will be leftovers, for sure. OMG, I have food for days now. I went with dumplings instead of teriyaki, and found a new menu fave in the bok choy. that clear sauce is crack. 🤤

He's been in surgery since 6:30. Doc said only about 20 minutes if... Guess it depends on what more she finds and has to repair. Last I heard, it's outpatient. What? I'd sure feel better if he stayed overnight.
She also said at least two more surgeries, then plastic surgery to rebuild his nose.
Guess he won't give a rat's rear what's for supper because all he can have is clear liquids and jello.

Shepherds pie. I was disorganized with the new recipe in my small kitchen. To add more spice to my frustration, H was telling me about his tennis match. Then the doctor's office called with lab results. A lot of numbers thrown at me with the cholesterol results.

Sorry about your grandson missrigby. I hope the surgery goes well.
Dinner was going to be parmesan crusted chicken and vegetables. I ended up reusing the mustard marinated chicken I cooked up for lunch. I did chop up baby potatoes and a zucchini. I tossed those with Italian bread crumbs and parmesan. It was okay. Needs more flavor next time.

Surgery took an hour and a half not 20 minutes! He now has metal plates and screws in his face. Was supposed to be in recovery about an hour, took two. DD is on her way home. I don't think she took him back to his place, probably spending the night here. We'll have the stuffed peppers and squash tomorrow, but something tells me he won't be interested even if he's able to eat. ETA: Yup. Spending the night here. There's a splint on his nose, probably because there's no way to put it in a cast

Glad there is an action plan set in place by the medical professionals. I've never heard of a trampoline park. I'm thinking there's a reason why...

I'm thinking chicken foil packets. They are Southwest themed. Chicken, rice, black beans, onions, peppers, salsa and cheese.
Wednesday will be mushroom Swiss burgers. It is grilling weather again.

I had leftover garlic shrimp, so I sauteed some red, orange and green bell peppers with onions in cilantro lime seasoning. Had my shrimp fajitas with taco dip and chips.
Extra peppers and onions will be used to make an omelet for breakfast.

When I was growing up, we ate on a pretty regimented schedule. We called it the 6-12-6 (6 am, noon and 6 pm) and we still laugh about it. My family has been a little more loosey-goosey with timing, but recently my family is doing this very annoying thing where they all eat a full meal at like 2 in the afternoon, and then they aren't hungry when dinner time comes, and I am usually starving. So, I snack thinking they will catch up, but they don't start roving for food until ~10 pm, and I'm over it, and I go to bed.

Dinner? I'm done cooking for the week. I'll fix some peanut butter toast for myself. I bet if I delivered something to the front door in a sack that said Uber Eats, rang the bell and left, they'd be all over it like white on rice.

I'm cooking off a few chicken tenders, will shred and have some in a Caesar salad later. I made sourdough croutons this afternoon, will get a start on using them up. yum! the rest of the chicken will be lunch tomorrow with the last of the leftover Chinese bok choy and some white rice I'll swipe from the pup stash.
tomorrow night's dinner will use up the end of the tenders value pack. I've got a package of mushroom ravioli in the fridge that needs using by the weekend. I'm planning to make a very saucy chicken Lombardy and pair with the raviolis.

Y'all won't believe it! DD made tostadas for supper. Woohoo. It's one of those things that's easy to do and that I really, really like.
A crispy tortilla loaded up with refried beans and cheese, topped with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sliced avocado, more cheese and a generous dose of salsa. It was so good!
In the olden days, I'd eat three. A couple of years ago, three went down to two. Now I can usually manage one. I'm stuffed.

I love tostadas, too. last summer, I was making breakfast ones with leftover pulled pork from an amazing BBQ place kind of near the summer rental. all of what you listed, plus some unsauced pulled pork and an over easy egg. and yes, one was a project to finish.

We went to the club tonight for dinner. Tonight was prime rib night, and despite both of us ordering the smallest cut, we brought decent sized chunks home with us. The also had a very nice wine on sale....we bought 3 bottles to bring home.

Tonight is veggie fried rice and egg rolls. DD got take-out last night around 9, which is way too late to eat, so mine's in the fridge for tonight's supper.
Wishing I could make a cake or some kind of dessert. DD/DSIL/DGD demolish sweets like nobody's business, and if I bake I feel guilty because it's just helping them pack on more pounds. It just feels mean to make something that merely tastes good and has no real food value then stick under their noses. Sigh.

I've had a Hillshire Farm kielbasa in the freezer for quite awhile.. Going to cook it tonight then add a package of Knorr spanish rice. That should last for 3-4 meals.
Little by little I'm getting the freezer a little less jam packed.
