Monday night bbq pork sandwiches and salad. Estimated costs $5. Pork roast is from pig my family got last year. Dad wouldn't let me pay towards it.
Tuesday night, leftovers glorious leftovers. I'm thrilled to not have to cook.
Wednesday night DH will grill steaks. Sweet potatoes and salad for sides. Estimated costs $18. If I'm remembering what the 4 pack of steaks cost correctly. There's 2 left that we will grill on Wednesday.
Thursday night take out.
This cooking every single day, multiple meals is for the dang birds.

I roasted a huge broccoli crown and have some chicken steaming to shred. will be tossing that with pasta, chicken broth and parmesan cheese. there will be leftovers for a few meals. I have one piece of chicken left (half a BCSB) from the big package. I might cook it for the pups tomorrow when I make more rice for them. I'm sick of chicken lol...

We're going full on fat kid tonight. Fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, and some kind of veggie. Don't know what yet. I'm going to be on My 600 Pound Life by the time quarantine is over. I'll be sure to shout out YM in my episode.

I made another quiche. Am I tired of quiche, yet? No, because every time it's different. This time it's leek, chicken and broccoli. I like having "instant food" in the house for when I'm feeling peckish, but don't feel like cooking.... just warm up a slice.

I pulled a turkey out of my chest freezer last Thursday night. it still feels like it is frozen solid. I was hoping to be able to brine it tonight so I could roast tomorrow, but that's not looking like it will be feasible. is it reasonable to think Friday is okay, since I won't be here Thursday afternoon. I am shocked at how long this is taking to thaw.

That's how I do it. It never takes several days.

If not than definitely by tomorrow morning. I would think tonight though unless it's a huge turkey.

it is in the sink now, definitely bigger than I remember buying - almost 15lbs. the tag on it said the sale was 39 cents/lb. even if it mostly thawed, I can put it in the brine to finish the thaw. I have a couple options for containers, depending on how inflexible it is at that point.

I am having a frozen dinner. I just am not that interested in food. Plus, I figured out the frozen dinners in the freezer are taking up too much room. I am thawing bbq that I bought at a local take-out not long after this all started. I froze about 2/3. So I pulled it down for bbq sandwiches tomorrow. That I am more excited about.

I had enough Mexican casserole left for 1 serving for each of us. Then prepared fried potatoes and fried cabbage. I use avocado oil, no cholesterol, so we can fry veggies safely.
I had 3 bananas going bad so made a loaf of banana bread. My oven isn't working right so had to play with it and cook an extra 45 minutes to get it to bake. The first 35 didn't do it. Hubs said measure the temp, one time its ok, next it isn't. And even if it says its the right temperature its not baking right. This stove isn't that old, maybe 4 years? I hate appliances now, mom had a stove that lasted 50 years I guess. I was going to keep it, but when we started to move it the bottom areas were rusted. The thing still cooked good, was a Tappan if I remember correctly.

Thursday night will be leftover pork chops, green beans and baked sweet potato. Baked in the instant pot anyway. I would love to get takeout but we have too many leftovers to use up.

I had no idea what I was having until I saw this. Now I'm having nachos. I was planning on putting some BSCB in the instant pot tonight for pulled chicken. I can make different things every night with it for a few days until we get tired of chicken. Tonight it will be nachos.

I'm leaving it there til maybe 1 or so, just to be totally sure.

DH and the kids are loving it.
Tonight is either spaghetti with meat sauce or homemade pizzas.

turkey and stuffing are done. squash is currently in the oven (higher roast temp) and my house smells amazing. going to drop off at least the drumsticks and some stuffing for Dad when I head up tomorrow to have the pups sniff out the house.

I had a big lunch instead. I had some bbq (no sauce) frozen that I brought down. I had a half-ear of corn and some baked beans with it.
It was good, but the only bbq sauce I had wasn't that good. I usually use just a little on bbq hot dogs, but a bbq sandwich takes a lot more. I am tempted to swing by the restaurant where I bought it and pick up a bottle of sauce in the drive-thru. I am going out, anyway, to do a curbside pickup at Michael's.

It's really good. www.allrecipes.com/recipe/27250/canadian-barn-bbq-sauce/

I packed up the drumsticks and wings, most of the dark meat (by request), the rest of the roasted butternut, and half the leftover stuffing. going to drop it off at my parents' house tomorrow on my way up to the house.
I straight out froze 2/3 of a whole breast (it broke that way when I was breaking it down) that will likely end up being for the pups. have slices of white meat and a little of the dark meat for myself, as well as a container of white meat for the pups in the next day or so.
not too shabby for a $6 turkey. 👍

Tonight is leftovers. Tomorrow will be turkey breast, dressing, mashed potatoes, and gravy. I forgot to pick up dinner rolls. I need to see if I have any dough balls left in the freezer.

Leftover mac salad, fried hot dogs, oven fries, I was going to do the dogs on the grill but to cold out. From 82 yesterday to 55 now and was a whale of a storm with it. And the wind gusts up too, hubs mowed and he was frozen when he came in.
I hope the wind and hail didn't ruin my apple and peach blossoms. The lilac bushes were ready to full out bloom too.

I'm roasting a handful of tiny potatoes and half a broccoli crown. going to pour a quick cheddar cheese sauce over that and some leftover turkey. I'm exhausted, it's been a long day.

more roasting tonight. there's a pile of veggies in the oven, and some shell pasta boiling. will toss with parm cheese and a little pasta water. after this dinner, I've got a box and a half left of shells - that the mooch insisted on. I doubt I'll ever buy this shape again.

I jumped in the car and went 2 blocks away and stopped at McDonalds. Haven't been to one in years, but I ordered a double qtr. pound combo. Even when I got home the fries were still hot, and the burger was a big double greasy good dripping with cheese, onions and ketchup. I was in heaven!!!!! Total cost $9.87 and worth every penny.

Yesterday, TD went to give blood and stopped at the barbecue food truck. When he got home, I was just pulling out lunch meat to make a sandwich. Pulled pork sandwiches definitely trumped lunch meat!
Last night I made chili for dinner. That should keep him in lunch for awhile.
Tonight, I have pulled out hamburgers. Costco has some really good sirloin burgers, and we picked up fresh ciabatta rolls for them. Lots of fresh veggies, and I made cole slaw. I have batter for snickerdoodles cooling in the fridge, will bake those off after dinner.
Easter dinner is going to be grilled leg of lamb. I think I’ll make rice pilaf to go with it, and roasted asparagus. If I get ambitious, I may use one of my yeast packets for a batch of cinnamon rolls for breakfast.
Nothing else to do, but cook.
