Iggy aka IG -- Welcome back! RX and medical are needs not wants. Take care of yourself. Have been doing a bit of spending -- mainly on restocking the pantry. Was low on several items and figured it would be better to get to the grocery now and get items that I know I will use. Some items can easily be used as hurricane emergency supplies if not used now. Planning to stay in as much as possible. Of course I have two events this weekend that I have to attend. I think I have to get a new dishwasher. Mine is currently not responding to the control panel. I will be doing the dishes by hand for a few days because one 1. I have too many things this weekend and 2. I want to avoid exposure to as many people as possible. I will limit my errands asap and stay home. Like TheOtherMe I am comfortable being alone and I have plenty of things to keep me busy.

Spent $12 for trash bags, Boy Scout fund raiser and I needed them. $10 yesterday for fast food after my colonoscopy, something I hardly ever spend for; DD was nice enough to take me by Culver's before taking me home. If all this Covid 19 stuff continues, I'll probably save money by not going anywhere. I had planned a trip but am waiting to see how things go in the next few weeks.

Update: March 3/10 NSD You would think that being in the heart of the COVID-19 stuff in Seattle, I could manage not to spend. But no. We did a CostCo run on Tuesday. On Friday, we decided to do a run to the south end for dinner and to hit our favorite Asian grocery store. We got regular groceries on Saturday. Sunday was going to be an NSD, until our best friends texted and asked if we wanted to go out to dinner (for the last time for who knows how long, since dine-in service in restaurants is shut down starting today). This week I expect there will be some more NSDs. But not today. I think today the plan is for one more CostCo trip (we're mostly worried about dog food) and to see if they have rice, since that's the main staple we have that we're starting to run low on. Hopefully after today, I'll get some NSDs in.

Saturday DH and I braved the big city in order to conduct our semi-annual Sam's Club stock up. I figured the cuckoo is going to continue for awhile, so we might as well do it now. Stuck to my list. I also used two clothing store gift cards and half the balance of a restaurant gift card. I did go over the gift card balance at one clothing store, in order to buy some new PJ bottoms, which I've wanted for quite some time. They were on the clearance rack. Went to WM this AM, stuck to my list, and saved $17 using coupons.
March unnecessary spending: $41.60 Clothing store $12 Car wash $14.11 Cupcake shop $10 Easter candy $12 last week's fast food Total $89.71

I lost track when this coronavirus came along. All I really know is that my SS check came today and there is plenty in the checking account. I may just blow this month off completely, YNAB and all.

Add two trips to the liquor store (who knows if they'll run out of stock and/or be forced to close??), $20 for my niece's BF for his birthday, and a pair of novelty skivvies. (Deadpool underwear? Yes, please!) MTD unnecessary spending $207.19 I also bought a jump rope, a la Carrie Underwood, to help with cardio, but I'm considering that a necessary health expense.

I am so glad that I did my stock up earlier this month. My last outing was last weekend as DSS got married. It was outdoors and most people were being very cautious and social distancing was evident. Wasn't perfect but the attempt was made. Haven't left the house since and with the exemption of DSS coming by on Monday morning to pick up something with social distancing in place haven't had any contact with anyone except by email, text or phone. Only good thing is that this is keeping me at home not that I am accomplishing much while this is going on. My broken dishwasher is non-essential at this point and will be replaced at a much later date as I can deal with doing the dishes by hand a little longer. It is only me and doesn't take that long to get a day's worth done. I am not a big online shopper so this inconvenience will help the budget this month.
Stay healthy all!

Update: March 7/10 NSD Pretty certain I got 4 NSDs last week. It's hard without a calendar. I did order one (on Thursday, when we also did one more CostCo shop, and I got a chai from a drive-through local shop). Hopefully, it will be here soon.

NSD = 20, CSD = 3, SD = 4
Still staying in place so my spending has completely stopped. Only money out of the house has been for the usual bills. Last one was scheduled today.
Stay safe all!

I have been doing very well with only buying necessities.
However, I saw a Facebook ad for a memorial candle. My sister has the ones for my parents from the funeral home. I went on Etsy and found a beautiful one. I am putting mom and dad's wedding photo on it.
This is a necessity for me as part of my grieving process.

I spent double my grocery budget this week, but I should be good for the next month on food (minus bread, produce, milk). It should all even out then, money wise. That brought me a lot of peace of mind and calmed my anxiety about not being prepared for a lockdown situation.

Still staying in and I have no plans to venture out. Seems most of my emails are trying to get me to shop and I delete them without even looking. These are places I usually shop and don't want to lose the coupons so I won't unsubscribe from them. I have plenty of things to keep me busy and no pressing need to get anything else.

Update: March 11/10 NSD Apparently stay at home orders keep me from getting Starbucks a couple times a week, which increases my NSDs. We did some Amazon shopping last Wednesday (sudafed) and got a Papa Murphys pizza. Saturday we took advantage of the Jersey Mike's half-off deal and got a couple of subs for lunch, and on Sunday, I did some grocery shopping. I expect that I will get two more NSDs this month.

I bought a Starbucks this morning. My usual order increased by .32. Not sure if they raised their prices due to the main dining area being closed and they need to recoup costs or what. The coffee puts the total March spending at $216.08 It helps I was stuck at home sick for 11+ days this month.
I also I bought two things on Amazon, but they are health-related, so I won't count them as unnecessary.

The candle is supposed to arrive on Thursday. I can't wait to see it. It truly was a necessity in my mind.

I am sooooo looking forward to tomorrow. It's going to be April, perhaps spring might show up (not likely, but I can dream). Best part is that this awful month of March will be over and my budget and spending can finally get back to normal.
on edit: I called my cleaning service this afternoon and canceled them until at least June. Hoping they can come back sooner, but for now, not only will I save some money, I can save the worry of having people in my house that could possibly undo all these weeks of being in this house in order to self isolate.

I canceled mine for Friday but mailed them a check. This is what they do for a living and they need income to survive.

Getting the flower beds mulched today; that's a planned expense for April. I think I'll delay having my AC checked out until later; it seems to be doing fine and I'd rather not have anyone in the house. The yard men are no trouble; I leave the money under the front mat for them.

Update: April 4/18 NSD Increased my NSD goal days basically by 2/week, to reflect that I am not going to Starbucks twice a week right now, and that we are doing our best to stay home. But this still allows for some grocery shopping, ordering take-out/delivery at least once/week to support local businesses, and seeing a new movie in the comfort of my living room. Otherwise, things are pretty quiet here. Biggest excitement of the day tends to be getting the dogs out on walks.
