Safe trip Busy!
Moneysquirrel I'm sure walking outside will do you good.
This week- edit Y's article (ongoing)/Tues+Wed: 15/21 pp In addition to all the marking I'm getting this week, I have to edit another article. I want to finish it by Friday so I can mark this weekend. I feel so overwhelmed. I know much of that is just anxiety about the current situation. is the article editing a freelance gig? I remember you had 4-5 jobs at one point! but I've only seen the two teaching gigs reported on lately.

My abbreviated priorities until Saturday Morning: - KKF - Keep Kitchen Functional!!
- dayjob
- research
For research, I'm just looking to do 1-2 hours per day to keep momentum up until I catch my breath. I've contacted all coauthors, so far one thinks they might need to drop out. One I'm done with my piece (I am neither 1st nor 2nd author on that one!). Waiting on others.
That's all I got in me right now!!

is the article editing a freelance gig?
I remember you had 4-5 jobs at one point! but I've only seen the two teaching gigs reported on lately. No the editing is not a freelance gig. The professors at Job 1 who teach in English can request an English "coach". Their department head needs to approve the request but they always do. (For staff, not so much). I get paid the same hourly rate for "coaching" these professors as I do for teaching an entire "regular" class, with all the marking that goes with those "regular" classes. So the "coaching" is a VERY sweet deal for me. So this is actually part of my main job (Job 1), and about 20% of my income. I DID have a third job, but I quit it in Jan. It would have been dead anyway now, since that job was administering Cambridge English speaking exams to MS/HS students. Those exams have all been cancelled (like the orals I do for both jobs).
So now I'm indeed down to two jobs/schools. I'm VERY happy with that. Many adjuncts teach at 4 or 5 schools. I feel very blessed to teach at only two.

I am slowly getting a few things done. The first level is fairly clean. DH has pitched in a lot doing the heavy cleaning while I organize. My next big goal is our bedroom. I think it could be the better workout space but it needs cleaned up.
I am trying to mix in fun things and some rest as well. I may finally be beating this sinus infection after a month.
I could easily spend all weekend just cleaning but I want some enjoyment. I don't want to start the week drained of energy. I assume we are here for at least another month and maybe longer. It will get done. We finally have plans for some things.
I started a notebook tracking things by area that I want to do. Some are fun like Easter decorations and others not so much like cleaning the oven.

nikiz628 what color did you choose for your front door?! We chose this color. Our shutters are a light gray, so I needed a darker color with a gray undertone. (our house is white)

I LOVE that shade of grey nikiz628 ! Great choice!

wvugurl26 , I feel like I have ZERO fun these days too. What sort of things are you doing for fun? I'm hoping for some ideas. I also realized that we'll still be under quarantine next week when DH has his birthday. I'm planning to organize a Zoom drink with his close friends/bandmates. DH has already told me that he wants to be serenaded with "When I'm 64". I passed that info on to our best friends.

I had a When I'm 64 birthday party for myself. I saw Ringo Starr that night in concert. Took a sign I had made that said it was my When I'm 64 birthday and he sang a couple bars of it to me. One of my best concert memories.

Well I'm at the airport to go out and look at the house and it is deserted. There are 3 terminals going through one security checkpoint and no wait. Then at the gate and there are maybe 5 people here for a full sized plane. I'm really glad I didn't pay to check my luggage or choose my seat since I might have a full row to myself. There was a couple departing on another flight in full head to toe hazmat suits and masks.
I finally got the payout from the house and it is weird to have that much in my bank account. I'm moving money over to savings but it's very odd.
I have 2 N95 masks to wear and my dad gave me 4 or 5 of his old masks that he used while painting which are my "last resort" masks.

I enjoy baking and craft stuff. I usually don't have a lot of time for either between work and traveling. I am also trying some online workouts. I have a pile of books and movies I hope to get to.
I am currently putting up all of my Easter decorations for the first time in a few years. I have an Easter version of a gingerbread house to assemble.
I made a Scooby Doo cake for DH's nephew birthday. He requested it last year. I also made cupcakes. I gave cupcakes, icing and sprinkles to two of DH's nieces. DH dropped off to their respective garages. As a bonus, I decluttered all of my Easter/spring sprinkles except 1 bottle.
I am finally trying the recipe I saved to Pinterest for M&M ice cream cookie sandwiches. I dug out all of our jigsaw puzzles and bought some new ones.
I liked the idea my friend had of writing down ideas. I saw early on that it was too easy to work to 530 or 6 just because I was already home. I started trying to put some more structure in my day.
I didn't want this to end and me regret all the things I didn't do while I was home. The house cleaning and organization is moving along. This will last for at least another month, likely longer. I have time for everything now.

Yesterday they finished the actual siding installation. There is still some other tasks to complete before the job is done but we are so close. Today I went and picked up my paint. It is supposed to be showery over the next several days but I'm hoping to the area around the light blocks painted. Then next week I can have the electrician out to install the light fixtures.

Hi all - I just read the last 7 pages to catch up! What a crazy time! My work started getting crazy on March 16, when we came to work and were told one of our 3 directors would be fired that day for various reasons. It's not that he didn't deserve it (basically he was promoted way past his capabilities) but it's hard when you worked with someone for 20 years. Then that afternoon, our boss said we should pack up everything (including computers, office supplies and telephone) and work from home the rest of the week. Then we would shelter at home for the next 2 weeks, the first one on paid leave, and the second one we could sign up for unemployment. Before the end of the first week, the governor closed up most things until the end of April. The weird thing for me was that I actually felt somehow that those two weeks were like a gift, and I would get so much decluttering and organizing done. The last time two times I took more than 1 week off were for major surgery, once in 2012, and before that in 2008. When the time was extended, it was like I just spiraled into a depression, and have had a hard time getting into the projects I had planned. Playing way too much solitaire on the computer.
I have a double home, and my sister-in-law (69) and nephew (41) live in the other half. My son (30 in 2 weeks), my husband (70) and I are on the other side. It's a toss-up as to whether our sons take care of us, or the other way around. It's very common here in Hawaii for grown children to stay home due to the very high cost of housing. My SIL works in the hotel industry, and that has gone to hell in a hand basket, too, so she is also home. But she is a do-er, and had already started making home-made masks before the lay-off. I am her assistant, and help with ironing. One of my cousins and a co-worker are coming by tomorrow to get some masks, so I guess we will meet outside, and they can use tongs to pick masks while we stay apart. The local hospitals are going to have a drop-off at the State Capital for the home-made ones, as it's getting so difficult to get the regular ones. Our Governor responded pretty quickly to the crisis, but crazy tourists kept coming, even with a required 2-week quarantine. They said it was a chance to come to Hawaii at a bargain price! But they can't go anywhere! My SIL's hotel phased out room service several years ago, because they had so many restaurants on site. Now the restaurants are all closed, so I don't know what those tourists are eating. I have also had a few GoToMeeting meetings with my boss, so I got a good laugh at your Zoom pie chart. I have claimed (but I'm not sure I did it correctly!) Unemployment for the first time in my life, and am thanking the good Lord for a cousin's leaving me a small inheritance last year. I had hoped to use it for a new roof and house painting, but it's a relief to know I have that cushion in case more crap hits another fan.
I shocked myself the other day - the neighbors behind us have never been friendly - Dad is OK, dog is great, but Mom is a total witch. They argue a lot, and she is so mean and vicious to him, and now is that way to the kids, too. Well, she was just laying into one of the kids about Math homework (and I probably would have been pretty mean if I had to explain negative number square roots, too) but good grief, her tone was just so nasty. I had just gone to SIL's side to iron, and we were shaking our heads at each other, and I just yelled J_ _ _ _ Ch _ _ _ _, and everything went silent, and we haven't heard her since! Well - it looks like I have really vented myself here! Thank you all for listening, and I hope to get back on track with cleaning. Stay well everybody!

This week- mark 8 final presentations/Wed- edit Y's article: 6/21 pp left (ongoing) I'm glad to hear that! I "meet" with my classes every weekday, so I try to get everything ready the day before and have it scheduled to launch at 6 a.m. Today, my classes are having a "work day." I just couldn't do any more. And it's ok. They need the break as much as I do. And we'll start fresh tomorrow. It helps that my principal is a big believer in self-care. Organization-wise, I'm still trying to get back on track with my graduate homework and the house. We're clean, have food, and have clean clothes. That's about all any of us have the energy for right now.

lol - none of this happened..... I planted some lettuce, peas, and spinach in the back yard.... so that is something I've been wanting to get back into gardening the last few years - in general and just in case food becomes scarce!!! also - DS put some seeds inside to go - peppers, tomatillos, we will do more today at lunch break. A bit late for the seeding, but been so busy!

I let my second class go 45 min early because I. just. couldn't. anymore. (These are 3h classes. I also give them a 15m break, plus time in small groups.) This weekend- finish Y's article (6 pp left)/Fri - mark 30 reports - mark 3 mock exams Quite a bit of marking but definitely doable. I'm off tomorrow (as always) but also most of Monday (exceptionally). I'm looking forward to going for a few walks, I wasn't able to get much fresh air this week. PS: Job 2 spring semester is over (except for final exams in May). Just Job 1 and Job 2 summer term left, plus my professor students.

My pleasure, debthaven! I've always lacked in the "what fun did you have today" area. Inspired by WVU's post, I started a list in my phone. Things to do individually, and things for DH and me. Naturally, one of the line items is "bake cupcakes".

I also did a load of laundry today, watered the plants, and ran/emptied the dishwasher. Just started another load of laundry. Didn't have the energy to change all the bedding today, just the bottom sheet.

I have been wanting to try some online Zumba classes, wvugurl26 has inspired me to actually do it. I have been wanting to try barre for a long time. Unfortunately the studios in my area do not schedule with consideration for those of us working 9 - 5 or anything close. The one positive thing I'm finding is many gyms and studios now offer online classes. I have my eye on another class I want to try next week. All of my sheets are finally clean. I caught up at the beginning of the week. The folding is waiting for another day! Washing the sheets and getting them folded are clearly two separate things.

wvugurl26 I absolutely don't want to be a PITA, but you could decide that washing, folding and putting away the sheets are all the same task, rather than 3 separate tasks (washing, folding, putting away). I CONSTANTLY have this issue with DH. He'll do something (ie fix a plug). He fixed the plug, yay! But then it will take him 3 days to take his toolbox back to the basement, because after three days I lose it. To DH, he fixed the plug, so to him, the job is done. To me, his toolbox is sitting in the middle of the LR, so the task is NOT done. Another example: last Thursday morning DH kindly vacuumed downstairs ... and then left the vacuum in the LR ALL DAY. I finally put it away at 11 pm. To him, he vacuumed. To me, he started to vacuum but never finished because he didn't put the vacuum away. Needless to say, when I finally put it away at 11 pm, I was irritated. I tell DH, to me, a job is finished when it AND all the tools used to do it are put away. Otherwise, it's NOT finished. The funny thing is, it usually takes (literally) 5 minutes tops to put things away and really finish the job. Just trying to offer another perspective.

I have the same problem with folding clothes. I put them away as I fold. The clothes sit in the laundry basket too long.
I'm getting better about emptying the dishwasher.

I make a game of emptying the dishwasher. My record is 3 min (but it usually takes me 4).
I guess I'm pretty neurotic LOL. But having clean/clear spaces truly helps me function. Sometimes I envy DH's nonchalance about all that. But I still refuse to live with his "baseline" of "acceptable", because it's not "acceptable" to me.

When she was visiting our home, I told my neighbor a few months ago I cannot stand cluttered counters, etc. It makes my head go all (insert verbal noise, LOL). Oh, to have visitors again... Those were the days....

Add me to the "clutter makes my eye twitch" club haha.
I got some weeding done in my backyard flower beds today. Our poor backyard is always the last thing we work on, and by the time we usually get to it, we are so busy and it is so hot (no shade) that we let it go. Needless to say, it's in a sad state and needs some TLC and attention this year. Our deck has two rot holes in it, which makes me so mad because it's not that old. My flower beds need completely de-mulched and then re-mulched with new landscape fabric. Lots of other little tasks like that.
We might as well get even cozier, the Indiana governor announced today that all school's in the state are officially out of the classroom for the rest of the school year. We have to complete 20 more days of E-Learning to satisfy the state mandate. Right now they are just doing E-Learning on T,W, & Th. I foresee this staying the same, as it was set that way to lessen stress on teachers & students.
Tomorrow is supposed to be BEAUTIFUL so H and I plan to powerwash the house and maybe start tackling the garage (finally).
